"Task Force 341" Pack for FPS Creator has been released today.

This force's task is to help you make that modern war or tactical shooter idea you've had into a reality. Part of a planned series of game assets, this pack features a LCAC-load of USMC inspired characters and weapons. This pack also puts many of the latest and greatest FPSC features to use.

Wow... I seriouusly woke up not 39 seconds ago. I must have felt a disturbance in the force

@ Everyone- Please heed the notices on the product page as to compatability and updates. There are a few known issues with some assets in the pack and there will be a proper update to the pack when 1.18 is out of beta. Thanks for looking!

You need to be running 1.18 beta7 or later for this pack. Also, it is meant to be used with full shaders enabled.

Attn:

I accidentally copied the M9 gunspec into the O3SDX folder when transferring files.

To fis this, open gunspec.txt in gamecore\guns\TF341 and replace all text with the following then run bin/dbo cleaner:

Attached arcive replaces the 341\appear scipts. Fixes a faction typo in team6 and adds a set of appear2 scripts to spawn from triggerzone.

Probably too good for FPSC. Let's hope the engine can do them justice. I'm especially loving the dance moves. Nothing like a little victory dance after a handing out a butt whoopin'.

Thanks everyone. I'll be making a support thread to address speciffic questions and inform of updates, etc.

@xplosys I've designed the pack for longevity so the media doesn't quickly out-date itself as FPSC continues to grow more powerful. Hardware setting the graphics to a minimum of 2xAF and 2xAA go a long ways. The settings used for the pics above are 16xAF and 8xAA but such high settings are definitely not conducive to good FPS on my 256MB integrated graphics card. As time goes by, the FPSC graphics load is getting shifted off the software onto the hardware so PC power will make considerable difference.

@MK83 I'll make a vid of that this afternoon and post some new scripts which make better use of the system. Please note however that unlike bond1's new upgrade for his zombies I don't special anims for each limb but rather the more generic left right and center-line animations seen in the anims vid. The crucial point of the limb detection system for this pack is in the precision of hit detection in general. The old system you didn't have to be precise at all for head-shots and it was very easy to hit allies by accident when trying to shoot around them. This is now totally precision detection and using weapons without cross-hairs makes for some pretty intense action.

@syko games animate=137. There are 70+ new animations on these characters.

Fantastic pack EAI, definitely on my list.

But this "As time goes by, the FPSC graphics load is getting shifted off the sofware onto the hardware so PC power will make considerable difference.", I'm really interested in.

This is already apparent now, to a degree. I'm using a laptop with 256MB integrated graphics and in a small empty room with postprocessing enabled, my yellow bar is nearly maxxed; Whereas on beefier machines there would be hardly a sliver of yellow. I'm pretty certian that speciffic bar now represents GPU load for the specific PC and not the threshold of the engine itself.

Thanks again guys!

In a couple days I'll have something up for that. I need to free up some more HDD space for recording and set up a more efficient level with spawn triggers rather than everyone active at once. I had some crazy 5 on 5 battles going but with fraps going made it too choppy on my PC.

Did manage to save a fun capture though (attached)

I'll be waiting

and I have another annoying question: as a rigger I notice that alot of the hand positions are the same on the weapons, are a few of the anim sets modified versions of the old scar anims and g36? by modified i mean better

@Bootlicker Ironically the G36 anims were based on the old SCAR rig but the new SCAR runs on the new M4 rig which yeah- was modified from the G36 rig. Confused yet? I am lol

The new rigs were done with modders in mind. So, the .x files are still binary but not compressed format. So it should be easier to mod in fragmotion, etc. The anim set also includes seperate simplezoom anims for Irons and 3D scope in one timeline. So if you want to have different optics it's a lot easier now because you just choose different anims to run in gunspec to avoid the issue with 3D scope being far away from the camera. And of course you can tweak height positioning via gunspec for calibration.

The only thing that will take some getting used to is the UV layouts are treated different to work with shaders. You'll no longer just be able to add the additional texture into the folder and have it work well. There is a 1024x1024 region on the upper right-hand corner of the map (next to the hands) which is allocated for accessories. Modders will also have to be mindful of maintaining a correct object heirarchy so that alpha z-sorting stays correct if they do optics mods. Swapping hand textures will also require image editing now.

@EAI

wow, thats pretty much gotten a sale xD Now, whenever i get the cash there shall be one added sale. Think I'll be rigging quite a bit more when this first finishes downloading to my pc

I still cant believe the price, and if i could afford it i would buy it twice, but i cant even afford one purchase atm! The amount of work is phenomenal, how about you put some of the stuff on turbosquid to bump up your income by a bit hell, you deserve the extra with all this added stuff! wish i could help you out a little more :\

Thanks,

Ben

Nice! I hoping this pack will spurn a lot of cool character retextures and weapon mods/rerigs. Nah... I hate the squid. I'd rather die poor than let them make any money off of me. No worries, man. Whenever you do get it, just make some cool new mods or tuts and inspire other people to buy it

I have a dream that one day FPSC become so powerful that it can compete with commercial engines and say '****' to them.

I have a dream that one day we can sell our games without fear of being ridiculed.

Wait, something tells me that this dream becomes reality, gradually.

Please apologize my bad english, I'm French.

Hey Errant, is there a specific version of the beta I should be using? I'm using Beta 5 at the moment and the knife acts like a gun. It shoots and once it is out of ammo is unusable.

edit: I updated to Beta 7 and it still acts like a gun.
