hi, i was just thinking about the rpg i am planning to make in the future, when i came to a problem what was i going to do about trees. So i tryed my luck and modeld a ree in wings3d yes it looked nice but it was high polly infact it was over 3k pollys, so i thought that was just a min too much for just a tree. So what i am looking for is a free treemodeler, any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

Ahah, I've tried looking myself, you will find it very difficult to find one, after hours of googling, I found no result, any I did find where extremely high poly, and exported with missing polygons. They had a Treemagik Plus which was free, but there is a download no where to be found of it as its not supported any more.

So what I did was look at how trees are made and tried it, my texturing skills let me down, but I know the technique for both the modelling at the texturing (even if mine did turn out crap) and I interpreted that into a tutorial:

Its done in Cinema 4D, but everything done is generic and can be done the same way in almost every 3D app, and the photoshopping can even be done in Paint.NET or GIMP. You should be able to shape it a lot better, but the tutorial is to teach the technique, considering I wrote it over a year a go

Treegen eh? Well I don't think I've heard of it myself, actually I think there was a program by the Gile[s] lot that you can add to giles if you already own it, if you don't then bugger And hope the tutorial helps.

You can save to .X if you unzip the contents of "TREEmagik_update_1_0b " then overwrite the original files in C:\VisZero\TREEmagik
When saving as an .X it will be saved to "
C:\VisZero\TREEmagik\X_exports"

No, sadly the tree pack won't be free, it will probably be something like 9.95 USD or 14.95 USD.
Yes, in Te.d you can move props up/down, you can scale them, and rotate them too. Te.d is probably the best terrain editor there is (almost).
