I realized that people might actually want a place to discuss the games that will be locked away in the BOTB Thread. Do it all here.

Thinking of anything that can be added to make the BOTB better? Let us know as well. Keep it civil, forum rules apply.

First post!

I don't know if this is the right way to do it, but:

My thoughts on games that should be listed:

Demon Sun, Fall of the Fireflies (if anyone could get a download working for the demo), GraveDanger, Anderson and the Call of Cthulhu, and Darkest Island.

I think (like KeithC said in the other thread) that the one's
that will be listed must:

Contact the mods,
or
The mods contact them.

But i think that when someone will be listed that there must be a
sort of explanation why he belongs in the list of "Best of the Best".

And also that there is no limits for...let just say..

5 Creators, so when you are in the list no one can replace that game.
(but that doesnt mean that there is a limit for 5 creators, the list can go on and on and on)
That game will always belong in the list.

Anyway i like this idea!

Oh yeah and also:

The games doesnt have to use custom media to appear in this list.
It just has to be a good game!
Sorry my mistake the Best game!
(story, gameplay, idea, etc etc)

But those are just ideas.

Yep, there can be more than one specific game of any (or the same) type; and yes, you don't need to have custom anything...it just needs to be good (of course not using custom media means you'll have to make up for it in other areas).

Once you're on the list, you're on the list; there will be no removing the game (unless the member wishes their game to be removed, or they do not maintain a valid download link).

I've already contacted Wehtam myself (haven't heard back yet though), and I'm waiting on responses from Ertlov and Butters (Umbra).

You can also have more than one game per member...if it's good enough. A member that has one good game listed, won't automatically get every game they make thereafter listed.

If your game isn't accepted, we may offer you advice on it; but I highly suggest starting up your own thread first and getting input from everyone.

All (constructive) opinions and ideas are welcome.

You'll be seeing that trophy later on, in a different venue....

Alright, in case you haven't seen it; here's a link to our section in the Newsletter. Congratulations again to those who are now and forever "branded" as a BOTB Developer.

You now have coverage of your work outside the FPSC forums.

You'll be seeing some brand new badges next to your avatars, when Rich can get the time. I look forward to adding to the list in the future!

I think umbra was a bit tedious. When it's not unbelieveably creative, it's slightly frustrating. Those "dark" sections didn't seem to enhance the game, just slow it down. Congrats to Butters for getting it up there, though.

Well, that just goes to prove the maxim:

you can please all the people some of the time
and some of the people all the time.
but you cant please all the people all the time.

or something.

I have played Darkest Island and I liked it...mostly. It definitely deserves to a BOTB game. It also reminds me of BioShock. It seems to be the same basic premise. The elevator glitch was the only thing that I felt hurt this game. A simple fix, though, would be to move the checkpoint to hallway next to the elevator. Otherwise, it is a very good game.

You know your code sucks when it does what you want before you know what you want.

His game is looking pretty good...

But in my opinion not good enough for Best of the Best.
Most of the people that are selected now...
have spend alot of time and effort in their game\demo.

Darimc just started compare to the ones that are listed.
But i am not saying that his game doesnt look any good...
i am just saying that it takes alot of time for making a "Best of the Best" title.
But his game is looking good...so who knows...
Maybe his game will be selected.

I would like to make a title in this list.
Wouldnt be that easy but still...
I think its funny when you see your own game in a list
for the "Best" game.

Anyway great job! To the ones that are on the list.
You deserved it all.
And hope you will make even better titles.

Cheers,
Cheese Cake.
