July 8, 2008 Started a cloth demo. I will be demonstrating several different ways to use cloths. So far I have a scene containing cloth as grass. Here's some pics: ![]() http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/8/613117/cloth0.jpg ^ Ball rolling through field, pushing grass out of way. http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/8/613117/cloth1.jpg ^ Wind blowing field Will show more pics as I progress. peace. ------------------------------------------------------------------ July 9, 2008 Created a scene where cloths simulate glass. ![]() http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/8/613117/glass1.jpg http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/8/613117/glass2.jpg http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/8/613117/glass3.jpg http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/8/613117/glass4.jpg ^ mmm shattering cloths |

Very nice. I would start thinking of adding your scaling code in there so you can test the demo out on a min spec machine (little bit of grass) and a super rig (more grass, more glass), and maybe use the template demo that came with the free trial version to wrap your demo in, give yourself that edge before the deadline hits. Finished version 1 for july 20. Added a 3rd scene, where cloth resembles water and rigid bodies interact with it. Added better scaling more gfx more sounds added music added help screens added a menu added a pause physics feature. hmm... can't remember what else. Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vViQN1qdxMU and pics: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/8/613117/cloth4.jpg http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/8/613117/cloth5.jpg ![]() |

best cloth demo i have seen! well done. in the glass breaking section, do you think it would be possible that the glass stays fixed to the frame and just the centre parts breaks up? also will the sources of the winning demos be published with the next dark physx update? once again, well done i hope your efforts will be rewarded. |

Actually i tried doing that, but was having trouble tearing the cloth where some pieces hanged. While playing with the cloth tearing I noticed in the Dark Physics reference file, it says the value in function 'phy set cloth tear factor' can range from 0.0 to infinity. But I always get a runtime crash when the value is less than 1.1 I know wouldn't make much sense being less than 1, but it's a little typo I've noticed along the way. I'm still going to play around with the idea, might be another way to achieve the same effect. Thanks for the kind words everyone. |

Yeah that'd definitely be worth experimenting with more.Actually i tried doing that, but was having trouble tearing the cloth where some pieces hanged. --...snip..-- I'm still going to play around with the idea, might be another way to achieve the same effect. " All up though, that is a very impressive demo, and such creative use of cloth. Good going games and stuff that I've made: www.rickyvuckovic.com |

Whoo, I won a beta prize I've had requests for the demo, so if you want it, here it is: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/1/8/613117/PhysX_Cloth_Demo_-_Jesse_Schipilow.zip Should note that I used the Trial version of Dark Physics, which expired on Sept 30. So I don't know if it will work anymore... I have included the source, so I'm thinking you should be able to build if you have Dark Physics. Anyway, cheers |

that`s a good demo, well done soul sucking devils, twisted body of the damed, slivering slim drips from every poor, sin licking at your ears, and the smell stinging your eyes, and if you don't like it, get out of my kitchen! |
