I paid for this product through TGC and I cannot even use it on my intended system due to it having problems either with Vista or my Phenom CPU. I think I'm gonna contact TGC about this, I want a refund if this product is discontinued. WARNING! The author of this post is most probably drunk or asleep. |

Maybe, but there is no support from the developer at all. I have been on the forums for this product and there has been no feedback from him since early this year, yet many people are having problems running this software. If the author is not prepared to offer fixes and/or support for people who bought this application, then it should not be sold. I kinda feel as though I've been ripped off, this software has bugs that need fixing and the author doesn't seem bothered about this. In actual fact if you check the last login time for the author you will find that he logs in every other week or so, but he doesn't actually post anything. So he is still around, just not interested in supporting a product that people have given him money for in good faith. I'm not a happy bunny. WARNING! Quote from the TGC Texture Maker Web Page regarding the system requirements in particular supported operating systems: Quote: "Windows 2000 / XP (Home/Pro)"
No software manufacturer guarantees their software will run on future operating systems. I use it on XP and its a superb product. I'm sorry to hear that the author may not be currently supporting the product but he deserves imo a bit more respect than he is getting on here. If TGC have indeed bought the product then it's my experience that you can kiss goodbye to any future support let alone development of it. Sorry to be blunt! No matter how good your code is, someone will improve on it |

I have tried running it on my laptop with both XP and Vista installed and it ran perfectly. It just doesnt run on my desktop which is running a Phenom X4 CPU, it seems to be a common problem because many people on the forums have the same problem and they are running the same CPU. It seems a little strange I know, but it seems to be the only explanation as of now. As for the respect, I'm not so sure. It is a great product for sho, but selling a product and not supplying any support what so ever is bad of him. I spoke with someone from TGC about this and they said that if he is no longer providing support they are going to drop the product from their lineup. It is a shame though because this is a nice little tool, but what can you do. WARNING! The author of this post is most probably drunk or asleep. |

Unless he's made a statement that explicitly states it runs on Vista and is supported on this operating system then its debatable however Quote: "selling a product and not supplying any support what so ever is bad of him"
I agree, if this is the case he should at least make some statement on this to clarify the situation. No matter how good your code is, someone will improve on it |

I haven't had any problems running it under Vista, however there have been several people who say they have, but I haven't. I tried running it under XP on my desktop too, but to no avail. Alas the product..... WARNING! The author of this post is most probably drunk or asleep. |

Interesting that the Phenom X4 seems to be the problem. I was thinking of upgrading my system to a Phenom X4. This has made me think twice now! No matter how good your code is, someone will improve on it |

Yeah I find it very unusual that a CPU by a respected manufacturer would cause a problem. I haven't had any problems other than that, they seem pretty nice (cheap) CPUs. To any people reading this thread that may be considering buying this product, download the demo first and try that. It is a smashing tool and if it works. WARNING! The Texture Maker demo will not run on my Phenom X4 desktop running Vista or XP either, But it runs just fine on my HP laptop with a Core2 Duo Cpu running Vista. I pretty sure its a Phenom problem. |

Just for the record I've still not heard anything back from the developer of TM, so if you buy this product and it doesn't work your stuffed. WARNING! The author of this post is most probably drunk or asleep. |

I've just installed the trial version on my laptop (had no trouble locating a live download link from the sticky thread at the top of this page). When I tried to run it from the desktop icon it crashed. But it seemed to run perfectly from the executable in the folder I'd installed in. |

It's sad that this product has such non-existent support. It's the best program I have seen for creating seamless textures from photographs, and I can't even get the demo to work on my new computer (Phenom Quad Core with Vista). Does anyone know of any other products out there that are comparable to this one? |

I read in the forums that Tobias Reichart (the creator/mantainer of the software Texture Maker) is dead. True or Lie ? Maybe TGC could give us an answer .... Riccardo |

I'd pay little attention to what you read on the interwebs. I read that he got a job which required his undivided attention so he abandoned the product, who knows. I've spoken to tgc about this a while ago and they had no idea either. 01100001 01101110 01101111 01110100 01101000 01100101 01110010 01110000 01101111 01101001 01101110 01110100 01101100 01100101 01110011 01110011 01110011 01101001 01100111 |
