I need help with three problems within DBPro. (1.) The first is, when I use the command
, once I turn a object using a 3RD Person Camera in a certain direction, my level automatically disappears, but when I face another direction, my level appears. (2.) I can't add limbs to my objects because everytime I use the command
, DBPro reports a error saying "You must link limbs". I already tried using the command
, but the same error comes up. (3.) I cannot use the GUI commands in eXtends. Everytime I try to run the samples it always says "DBPro project has stopped working".

If anybody knows the answers to the problems, I will be very happy.

And one more thing, how do you know where to position a gun as a limb in a character model's hand?

1. Sounds like a culling issue. No model and no code, so can't investigate further.

2. No code, so can't see what you are doing wrong. It's not a DBPro bug though, because the few pieces of example code I have for limbs continue to work just fine.

3. Can't answer because I don't own that plug-in.

4. I'd use trial and error because I can't model, but if I could, I'd add a limb at the correct position.

Thanks a lot for replying very quickly.

For the first problem the code is

Basically when I face backwards with the object the level disappears, and vice-versa.

Nevermind the limb problem.

And I have another question, using a Xbox 360 controller is it possible to use every button, the D-Pad, and both thumbsticks on the controller?

Thanks A lot!

I'm guessing it has something to do with SET CAMERA TO OBJECT ORIENTATION 1

As your using turn object left + turn object right this evaluates to a total y value of 180 degrees, from -90 to 90

will display this.

Personally i prefer to use the command, set camera to follow hope that lends some in-sight into your problem

also - I have seen things like this (disappearing, or odd rendering) where a "large" model, plane, object.. whatever partially goes out of the camera "distance" and part of it is within the camera distance...

If THIS seems possible.. try breaking up the "big stuff" to smaller "chunks"...

(Raw Direct X does this as well .. you can have a SINGLE Huge mesh.. and portions just "turn off" when bits go out camera range.. not individual meshes go off.. "PARTS" of a single mesh won't draw.. turn cam a bit.. WHAM.. there... odd...

1)You could try "set object radius objnum,0", though it might be better to upload the model or a version of the model that you don`t mind uploading which acts the same.
2)As IanM has stated
3)Extends works fine here - perhaps your setup is not the same. I`m using U7.1beta11 on Vista Premium 64

I'm using the same DBPro version, but on Windows Vista Premium 32.

Nope. The dll mentioned can be found in windows directory and contains a lot of functions(1806), but other than that I haven`t a clue. I`d guess that those examples work with XP and not Vista as I`m sure I had them running on my old machine.

Sorry for the double post, but got it working now, I forgot about this - its a known issue. Under Vista you must create the exe file, then right click the exe and change the compatability mode to win 98/me. The details are here in the last post http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=133828&b=18

I don`t have an Xbox 360 controller so can`t help you there.

Actually you can just apply win 98/me compatability to your IDE exe of choice - ie the editor file "Crogram Files (x86)The Game CreatorsDark Basic Professional OnlineLaunch.exe" for the default IDE. No need to create a project exe and apply compatability mode every time you make a change to your source now!

Edit : This however limits memblock sizes to 256 mb and reports the wrong value for system tmem available() - Using Vista and U7.1b12
