Deprivation : Direct Action

Made by Wolf

Description

This is a Game made in only 8 hours. Its an somewhat tactical
Shooter and its not perfect.

Well, the game was made to test some script "puttogethers" for
Disasterpiece. I didn`t want to add a story to it, but you guys know that I always have to

Story: You play as a Mercenary of the Silent Waters Agency. A Merc. Group innoficially sponsored by several governements. You joined 3 Years ago, no one knows about your past or your real name, no one knows what happened to you and made the cold, brutal Mercenary out of you. All they know is that you always complete your Missions as long as the pay`s good. You are "Silent Waters" Top Men for Dirty Business... one man who can kill hundreds. One man without a name, without a past and without any conscience

You`ve been contracted by a person who called himself "the french" to break into a secret bunker complex of the german terrorgroup "Tollwütige Schakale"...Your Mission: Recover a Laptop.

Features:

- Airmoded highly upgraded weapons
- Cool Graphics
- Tactical Shooter Action
- Voice Acting

Screens

http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/big/41mk-89.png

Additional Info

This is not the usual FPSC Game....if you want to make it, stay low, always get to cover and use the "q" and "e" button to peek around corners.

The Title/Loadingscreens etc. look crappy.

Looks good; but as per the rules of the Showcase, you'll need to lose 2 screenshots (you can have links to the rest, if you like).

Finally been able to play it today, and it's outstanding.

+ "Pretty" and detailed level-design
+ Great textures
+ Nice sounds
+ Good Enemy-AI (for a fpsc-game)
+ Utterly authentic atmosphere (well, can't really judge it, but it felt like being a kinda rambo-like agent)
+ Beautiful weapons
+ Talking enemys

- Enemys talk even after death (could been fixed easily)
- Really short game
- Has been quite boring to travel back, after picking up the laptop... would've been more interesting with new enemys

Lastly, I'd like to say, that this game runs, regardless of my old pc, greatly and without any, heavy, lag.

I may be no videogame-journalist, or such, but I rate it nonetheless: 86%

This was one of the most exciting fpsc-experiences by far.

For me, a definite BOTB-Candidate.

Looks good so far; except I'm stuck at the place where you meet your contact. I'm not sure where to go or what to do (I tried opening the door to the left, but it won't open)?

@Metal Devil: Thanks for the "Piece of Art"...did you like the game?

@KeithC: Listen to the contact man...I might have an accent, but in the end he says what you have to do...(if not, read doomsters "code snippet )

I`ll keep that in mind for a possible sequel.

Just played through it... That was amazing, best FPSC game I've ever played! The mood of the level was set perfect, the guns had great retextures, it was exciting to play, the environment was good, the lighting was aced... What about the negatives? None! It was hard to understand some of the voices, but was awesome, great work. It was a tad short, however. If you had more levels, I'd recommend going for BOTB or even VBOTB

Got the laptop; but have no idea as to where to go next. Am I supposed to just go back again? I thought the red door would be a way out.

@PWP: Thanks there! I used your custom media as well

@Hockeykid: I actually do not know I upgraded and downgraded and messed around due to my shavra error...but I guess it was 1.15 if thats possible.

@mgarand: Thanks! Yeah, they react pretty cool sometimes, but I still need some fixing to do on em

@KeithC: I tried to give the contact man a german accent, maybe its not ununderstandable , so here`s a translation:

[i]Ah, you made it! I`m Becker! Listen...there is a way to the Bunker Area right through these rooms. Take that equipment...I`m sure you got a hand for it. The laptop is in the last room of the bunker area... The area should be heavily guarded, stealth isn`t your thing, huh? Anyway The Door behind me leads to a warehouse and its the savest way out. I make sure that door is open as soon as you arrive with the laptop I`ve hidden your pay well so do not try anything funny There is a secret switch in this wallpanel right next to me ...good luck!

Okay I played the game and here's my little review:

The gameplay was really good and refreshing through the whole game, though I must admit that the same tactic (peek around corner and shoot) was getting a bit boring in the end. Maybe add some different enemies which need different tactics? Like guard dogs or machine gun spots where you need to toss a grenade to the unlucky machine gunners for example. But all in all this was a really nice alternative to those over used run 'n gun games we've seen too much lately.

The soundtrack (voice FX and music) were overall good, but the loading screen music annoyed me a bit for some reason but it was balanced by the awesome menu music, which for some reason reminded me of Max Payne. When I took my first steps in the game, I was positively surprised: There were custom floor sounds! You've also redone some of the reloading sounds which also gave me a positive impression on the effort you've put to the game.

Now here's something you should be proud of and develope even further: Level design. I know that the quality of FPSC games have increased lately but damn, your level design is off the charts! Every single corner was done with care and professionalism which kinda annoys me because you are much more new to FPSC than me and still you make far more impressive levels than me (or most of the forum members if I dare to say).

The graphics were also very nice, I really, really like your skills on making so good textures. My suggestion is to put up a CGS store account and sell some segments (if you haven't already done that?)

The art was pretty simple but effective. What I didn't like about the HUD, was the blockyness of the health image if you know what I mean.

I found pretty much bugs, which isn't a wonder since you made this in only 8 hours (which is incredible). There were some sound bugs (cutting out and such). Also if this can be categorized as bug; the voice overs were some times a bit difficult to hear. Captioning might be good, though I'm not really sure how to do that (Scripting?). When I first time played the game, the AK didn't have hands and it had iron sights but when I loaded the game, it had hands but no iron sights.

Here's a small good/bad list for you:

Good

- Level design and gameplay
- Sound FX
- Custom media

Bad

- It got a pretty repetitive by the end of the game
- Some minor bugs.

Hope to see much more amazing games like this from you in the future!

@Juzi: Thanks for the Big Review, dude

Quote: "Like guard dogs or machine gun spots where you need to toss a grenade to the unlucky machine gunners for example"

Thats cool for sure...but a bit too much for an "one level" game.

Quote: "run 'n gun games we've seen too much lately."

Yeah, I agree... most people need to focus more on there enemy AI and spawning. (especially in larger projects)

Quote: "There were custom floor sounds! You've also redone some of the reloading sounds which also gave me a positive impression on the effort you've put to the game"

Sure man I hated those default sounds

Quote: "because you are much more new to FPSC than me"

Actually I`m in since 2006 I bought FPSC even before the release of any modelpack as far as I remember.

Quote: "My suggestion is to put up a CGS store account and sell some segments (if you haven't already done that?)"

I thought about it, but I haven`t done it yet.

Can't tell you the exact specs, but it's working on my pc without any serious lag:

AMD Athlon 64 3800+
Geforce 6600
512 MB Ram

So, it doesn't need a high end computer to run great.
