For anyone who wants to create a hex-based strategy game, creating seamless tiles can be a pain. This tool lets you specify a seamless image, and it creates a seamless hex tile that you can save.

This was just a quick tool I made for a side project and figured someone else may be able to make some use of it.

It uses a little bit of BBB Gui(Thanks Brendy Boy!) and also N3wton's resize image snippet(Thank you as well ).

A screen shot that shows a converted texture rather than a layout:

What exactly is a hex-based rts, and where can it be used? I've never heard of that before...

I think Starcraft and Settlers2 are hex-based. :S

He said hex-based strategy, not real-time-strategy.

Hex tiles are popular for wargames and other strategy games. Google search for Battle for Wesnoth as an example.

Hex tiles are a throw-back to strategy war board games where units could move a certain number of spaces per turn. With squares when you move on a diagonal, you actually move more distance than you do when you go straight, so players would cheat by moving diagonally as much as possible. With hexes you don't have that problem. Some games skip both systems and just use a ruler and assign each unit a distance value.

Neat code.
