Hi all, finally got a demo of my latest game ready. Training levels and the first 14 easy levels only I'm afraid, it's a commercial project.

Full version has over 100 levels, 4 music tracks, and 4 different backdrops.

Feedback appreciated.

Excellent work VanB! I assume this will be for AppUp as you posted an early screen in the ADG thread? Send me an email if you want a review OK?

I only just saw the WIP thread

Excellent graphics and very nicely executed gameplay. I like the menu too. Heck, I love it all

Well done!

Thanks guys. I'm hoping to have it somewhere for sale at the end of the month - there will certainly be an AppUp version. A review would be great Baxslash, I'll get in contact with you about that soon.

Hehheheh, this is so sweet, Van B! Awesome game, that's all I can say.
The graphics are super, and the gameplay aswell.
The 'puzzle' variant is really nice too.
I died on the easy level in the survival mode the first time I tried. Guess I'll have to play some more to enhance my skillz. Heheheh.

As baxslash mentioned, I love it all too! Excellent game!

Cheers

This is quite addictive. Music starts to grate after a while though. Then my mouse arm starts hurting!

Water looks really nice. How are you doing it?

Thanks guys.
If your mouse arm gets tired, you can use the cursor keys, you can also use a joypad which works quite well - I used a wired XBox360 joypad.

The water is done using a segmented plain, then that get's vertex adjusted to suit the water level at each point, which is stored in an array. The water physics are really just a fancy smoothing routine, smoothing with forces assigned to each point, so water can bob up and down. On the iOS version, the water leans slightly with the device.

Van B, I get a problem on my work PC which is dual screen (both 1680x1050 resolution).

The problem is most of the graphics are not visible...

Fizzy and dizzy are not visible and nor are the bubbles but when I hit a bubble I do get the particle type effect for a hit.

Not sure what else I can tell you at the moment but I'll see what else I can find out!

Ohh, that is a strange one!

Do the bubbles or monkies ever show up? - if it's a z-depth issue then maybe the monkies would show up when near the edge of the screen. I use a multiplier for the zdepth so I will see if I can replicate this issue - I'm thinking it might be an irregularity in the Z ordering, as the monkies and bubbles are closer to the camera. I never tested it on a dual display setup, so I'll be sure to try that as well... maybe dual displays mess with DBPro's camera settings.

Thanks for letting me know.

Thanks dude. I assumed it was a shader or something because it is so smooth. Must be a lot of segments!

Nice to know I can play with cursor keys too.

The water uses 64 segments, so a reasonable amount of points, I think the highlight trick makes it look smooth too, that's done with some UV coord trickery.

It's written in DBPro, I'm not hugely experienced with C++, so I find it easier to get things working in DBPro before trying to translate to C++.

the game play is fun. i like this one and the bruce also. those dang monkeys are so cute kinds of distract my focusing on destroying the bubles. does the game use any phsyic add on or did you code it your self.

this game is challenging has a good replay value. music is catchy and the game art is cool.

Van B, I tried it on my home PC too and both monkeys were only half visible on a standard 4:3 ration screen. Seems odd. Perhaps the sprite scaling is a little out somehow?

My son loved playing it nonetheless as did I. The other sprites were all visible and the game was very playable, just the monkeys were of the edge of the screen.

Sorry I didn't take a screenshot, I was hoping to find time to do it over the weekend but I've been helping a friend out with some CAD work and I've been up till past midnight since Thursday!

Thanks Leo. I didn't use any plugins with this, it's all basically trial and error physics.

Cheers.

Baxslash, I'll look into that - I have it offsetting the monkeys based on the screen aspect ratio, but I don't think I tested 4:3, widescreen is so common these days. Maybe I have to add a little border at the top and bottom to being the monkeys into view.

Although its not a game I would ever buy or play if at all. But I did try it out just so I can let you know that it works well on my 5570 ATI card and 4 gigs ram ( with 6 Core CPU ). Good job on the game. Also, I do love your bubble menu effect. That part is sweet !!!

Well done.

Well done,

Graphics 4/5 - Some seem sharper than others but still very good, though the saw blades could do with a bit more work.

Game play 5/5 - not an original concept but with new twists i like. It has replayability and a nice pick up for a quick game that then lasts much longer than you meant to.

Music 4/5 - fits the theme of the game but gets repetitive. Great that you can turn it off.

Lastability 5/5 - With 100 levels and survival modes It should keep people entertained for a long time.

Overall 4.5/5 - job well done.

The only thing I did not like was how the credits just disappeared off the top of the screen. leaving you with nothing to look at. How about restarting the scroll when they go off the top. Or did they do that and I never waited long enough ?

The demo is great. I'll be waiting for the release of the full game! I also had a problem. I tried the game on a pc with the dual screen option activated, without having actually both screens connected, just one, but the bubbles were not visible still.

Looks great. I'd love to play it, but I need WinRar to run it right. Is there a free WinRar anywhere? thanks.
