Hello comunity! Here is my first work and scene in UDK. Before UDK, I worked in FPSC for more that one year and then I decided to move to better engine. I decided to choose UDK for it and I'm very happy with it. I'm working now in UDK for 7-8 days and I already created first scene. Also I met with Kismet but I didn't learned all functions in it. Comment please on this work! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Your signature has been erased by a mod |

Very nice work, are you registered on the UDK forums themselves? They're the best place to go for very finite advice. I dabble in UDK a little myself. Is that custom assets or the ones packaged? I'm loving the level design work, though. Very archaic. |

No I'm not registered to UDK forums but will do in some time, thanks for suggestion UDK is really great engine, I'm enjoying working in it. 80% of assets are packaged, I have few stuffs that aren't. In next weeks, I will start to learn 3DS Max because I will need my own models for first game. Thanks again for comment and compliment. Will also update this thread with more stuffs that I done in UDK later. Your signature has been erased by a mod |

Best thing to do with UDK, is learn everything to a basic level, then specialise yourself in one field. You seem like Level Design would do you well, but more sought after positions are content creators and scripters. Build up a decent portfolio, and you might get grabbed by a fairly serious project. |

I'm planing to do the whole game by my self, so I will learn every program that will help me to create a good game. That means that I will go with Kismet and Unreal Script. I'm pretty confident that I can learn all of these stuff that I will need. 3DS Max also Of course I'm far from begining work on my first game. Thanks again for comment. Ummm... Wow! Awesome views, great scenery shots, erm... If you have actually developed these levels yourself then you doubtfully have a knack for level design. As Sep says, very visually pleasing. Just a thought from a programmers point of view though (because of the amazing detail that you've added), would you be able to split the map into sections, ie, the scenery into separate objects/sections for the poor programmer to distance/separate? Or have you already thought of that? (which I reckon you have. You don't appear that daft.) Mental arithmetic? Me? (That's for computers) I can't subtract a fart from a plate of beans! Warning! May contain Nuts! |

Sorry but my native language isn't English, so I can't catch up you correctly, if you can be more "simplier" or if you can say me more details? Thanks again for comment. Your signature has been erased by a mod |

I am also learning to use UDK. I recognize the tutorial you followed to create this map, because I watched it as well. http://eat3d.com/udk My version: I like the changes you made for your version of the map, and you definately continued well beyond the end of the tutorial. It's certainly much better than what mine looks like. However, you need to specify that you created the map based on a tutorial, it's not right to say that you created it all on your own. What you should do is create your own map completely from scratch, even if it looks like crap. Getting a feel for the workflow between the UDK editor and your 3D modelling program is at first far more valuable than making it look nice. I'm currently in the process of doing that myself, so I can't offer any more advice than that. I'm very much in the same boat as you. Just out of curiosity, what is your game going to be? FPS? I forgot to say that, but I mentioned it here : http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&b=25&t=188405&p=1 Also as you can see I made many changes. Like i said earlier, soon you will see more of my magic work, from a scratch Yeah when you have 3D modelling skills, it's a lot of easier to create what you have in mind. I already begin to learn it, it's going nice. Quote: "Just out of curiosity, what is your game going to be? FPS?"
I will probably re-create the FPSC game that I started to work on and stopped when I decided to move to UDK. I already have story, levels on paper, everything in mind, just need to learn more UDK and modelling programm. It will be horror adventure Your signature has been erased by a mod |

I've mainly been working on vehicles. Sadly, I haven't got anything to show yet, but I aim to have a video or two, soon! Just finished a tank, very fun to roam around the map with. |

Well, I have a placeholder for my gunship. I can't model for crap, nor texture. I've been using Dexsoft models for other stuff, though. I'll show you once I get a video together. Filming and running UDK at the same time stress my aging PC out. |

Cool. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Quote: "Yeah when you have 3D modelling skills, it's a lot of easier to create what you have in mind. I already begin to learn it, it's going nice."
Luckily for you, it seems like you already have some 3D modelling skill, which is something I can't say I have. Quote: "Nice looking, maybe to much lights?"
Well, I stopped working on that level much sooner than you did. I figure if I'm going to invest the time and energy in a level, it may as well be one that I did from scratch. Formerly known as Housewares |

First i will make little "holiday" away from UDK because i need to learn 3Ds Max, but after you will see what I have Quote: "Luckily for you, it seems like you already have some 3D modelling skill, which is something I can't say I have."
I have very little modeling skills but as I said up I'm learning it now in full intensity. Quote: "Well, I stopped working on that level much sooner than you did. I figure if I'm going to invest the time and energy in a level, it may as well be one that I did from scratch."

You will not regret believe me. Before more than one year I opened the UDK for first time and it was pretty complicated for me at first look so I didn't tried even to create anything. But now when i'm little "older" and I have motivation, I believe that I can create everything with this engine. For me it's just perfect, so please try with it and you will be amazed if you stay with him ( UDK Your signature has been erased by a mod |

Just a tip for you. If you want to use FPSC models for your UDK games, this is what I do: Import the model into fragMOTION and export as .obj. Import the .obj into 3dsMax and UV map everything. Export as .ASE Export into udk. Fruitella's a badman sweet, do you get me? |

Thanks Beno09 I'll post some more in a little with the capture area corrected. Wolf: When ever I try to apply a material of a texture to a model imported from fpsc the material does not show up in the editor but does in game. Do you know how to fix this? Moodier lighting's something I've been finding difficult to nail in this engine. Especially in this setting; apocalyptic, war-torn night. The aim is to have the foreground be fairly dark, so enemy weapons and distant battles seem more vibrant. ![]() ![]() Done a lot of work on weapons and vehicles behind the scenes, though. This is just a little tester level for design concepts. |
