Hi,

All pledgers can now download FPSCreatorReloadedBETA-311013.exe from their TGC order history.

Have fun with this first release. We know we have a lot still to fix and tweak and add. Just try it out and let us have your feedback.

We'll be working on far better speed optimisations in the coming days and we plan to release a new build in a weeks time.

Windows 8 users; You should 'Run As Administrator' when you launch the icon from the desktop.

Here are some important key commands you'll need in edit and test mode;

Test Mode
TAB - calls up performance and graphical slider controls
F1 -Pre Bloom Boost
F2 - Bloom Threshold
F3 -Post Bloom Threshold
F4 - Light Ray Factor
F5 - Brightness
< and > - Use these keys to change the above values

F11 Set night sky map
F12 Day Sky maps - keep pressing to rotate around six of them

Editing Mode
+ and - Control the size of the terrain painting brush
i - Spray entity mode (randomly place entities, random rotation and angle)
u -Toggle auto floor levelling when placing entities

Have fun!

Here's my first reloaded screenshot - a tropical island.

In terms of FPCSCR itself, it looks very good. I'd argue the zooming should happen quicker (took me a few minutes to zoom out far enough to be able to see the whole map). I don't have any sounds for some reason - but that's probably a bug. And in time I'd like to see a few more customisation options in terms of the terrain painting and sculpting features (but I know there are plans anyway).

Performance is OK, but again I know there are plans to improve this further. I'll keep playing!

@ TGPEG - I totally agree and it's on a list for Lee to sort. When I was with Lee I noticed he has a mouse wheel that he can flick and it spins fast, so he didn't see the issue.

@otrov77 - are you using + and - on the main keyboard or on the numeric keyboard? Also, what language keyboard do you have?

Here you can see quite a number of model packs from FPSC-Classic do indeed work in Reloaded As excited about this as I am, I do recommend people to use the new Reloaded models as they are quite well designed.

I'm quite glad to see the FOV options added, the view in-game looks exactly the way I have always intended FPSC to but failed to achieve in the past. I also admire the light-rays those are a great touch.

One odd thing I noticed is once you create a map and alter the terrain then attempt to create a new map... the terrain is still altered from the previous map. I'm assuming Lee is aware of this. Got a couple other things I noticed I'll leave that for comments to his blog :p

I don't think you can build games in the BETA. Which makes total sense considering there is much work to be done still on the engine.

I'm currently experiencing 15FPS. Which is a bit odd considering the type of games I play on this computer.

no compiled game in Reloaded beta; that will be for the 1.0 release. I tried some NightCity models and they work great. I am however now aware that I painfully need to upgrade my computer. What are the suggested system stats for FPSCReloaded?

Unfortunately I can't download it. I've tried twice now and each time the download has been interrupted with a security warning. Each time I was given the option of "resume" but when I tried that I was asked whether I wanted to Run anyway or not. Since I was merely trying to save the file that choice was unhelpful. On my second attempt I opted for Run Anyway and I got a message saying the file was incompatible with my version of Windows.

I'm using W7 and Norton. Any ideas what I should do to download this? (And why make the download an exe file for heaven's sake?

I'm going to try one more time using Run rather than Save As to see if that makes a difference.

sounds like Norton interfering. Disable it for a short time.

Yes, I'll try that if my latest attempt fails (it says 1hr remaining at the moment ).

Edit Yeah, latest attempt failed.

Now trying to temporarily disable Norton. Anyone know how to do that? There's a myriad of settings to choose from.

You mean the BETA 1.0 or FPSC-Reloaded Version 1.0? I'm assuming you mean the BETA. They are being rolled out today. Some of have already received it. You shall soon to. Keep checking through-out the day.

Not convinced it's Norton. Looks like MicroSoft's SmartScreen Filter might be the culprit. I've disabled that for my 5th attempt. This is getting tedious.

Gandalf, I'm using W7 and it worked fine.

Have you downloaded the following and ran it before trying to install beta?

FPSC Reloaded BETA - DirectX Web Installer

Installer requires some DLLs that I didn't have on my W7 system.

This is good, but i wonder if there is going to be greater options for the player object. Id like to change the unrealistic sprint speed and things like view bob? Would these be included in the future?

No I haven't - for two reasons: (1) the TGC instructions say its included in the main download, and (2) I haven't been able to complete the download yet so installation isn't the issue.

I've now tried twice on my Vista machine and each time the download "completed" with only part of the file downloaded, 30 MB in one case 62 MB in the next. It's beginning to look like a network problem. I'll keep trying.

Edit Well, my 8th attempt on my Vista machined reached 72 MB. Now trying the 9th attempt. Is there any way of telling when I've actually got the complete download (yes, I know it's 182 MB but what if it's just a few bytes short)?

I could download the installer, but would get this message when i tried to open it. (see image). Downloaded the installer again, but it still didn't work. Then i tried to run it as administrator, but i got the same result. What do i do? Do i need a different copy like the error message suggests?

I'm having the same problem. I get that error when I try to run an incomplete download.

How big was the downloaded file on your machine? Was it the full size or was it smaller? My 9th attempt failed as well with only 72 MB downloaded - and no warning about incomplete downloads.

i needed to download with opera, all other attempts resulted in a corrupted file.
Now i have a good copy, installed it with all deps and now i have a FPSC-Mapeditor.exe not found error.
I checked it and the file is not in the folder.

System: Windows 7 Home 64bit, german
Path: first standard path (programme (x86)),
now "c:\games\fpsc reloaded"
Virusscanner disabled
UAC disabled

Edit:
opening the installer with 7zip, i can see the FPSC-Mapeditor.exe (compressed size: 2103935) but it's not possible to extract it. i get no errors, can see the decompressing progressbar but there is no file.

For some reason, FPS Creator Reloaded is very laggy.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

My process/Graphics Card is Intel Core i7 26000

I have 8 GB of RAM

I have the latest DirectX Version.

Edit: When I lowered the settings, I managed to get a lot of less lag.

Also, I've noticed that a lot of you are experiencing no sound, unlike me. I have actually heard footsteps in game, even gunshots.

I did find out the problem, however. It appears when the player marker isn't placed, no sounds are produced. Whereas if you place down the player Marker, sound will appear.

As mentioned within the Beta, it's to test out on what PC's can handle it, etc. Looks like mine has lag issues, due to having my Graphics Card being built in. Yours should be fine, if not, then within a Beta or two later, you should get a good feel.

Just had 30 mins playing about. First impressions, the editor seems way too dark to see anything at first. Perhaps the default brightness could be upped a touch? Of course I didn't know about F5 altering it, I just jumped in lol. Still probably worth doing, I found it way too dark until I plopped a light down.
The player start marker seems to vanish after testing the game.
Apart from that it seems pretty nice. A little slow on mine perhaps, but hopefully that will be addressed in future updates. My computer is 6 years old or so, but I did build it to last at the time. It runs stuff like Dead Island smoothly and at high detail, so should have no real issues with the kind of scene I was testing here. I'm running a Q6600 with 8 gig of ram and a Geforce 260GTX on Win 7. It's getting on these days, but still runs any game I have thrown at it to date.

Oh, if you right click the player start marker and set him to say, have a weapon at the start, it doesn't seem to work. Picking on up off the floor does however.
Still, I'm looking forward to what this package will do, and hope that future updates won't serve to slow it down more than it is at present.

Don't know whether it's a bug or not, but the camera has a sort of infinite pitch, so you can do a forward roll, which is amusing.

Downloaded (only a couple of problems). I usually opt for the Run and Save option, which works fine for me. I have Windows 7 and Norton on my computer. Had to switch off UAC (User Access Controls) first before the program would run completely, though.

It really is awesome. Managed to design a simple set and run through most of the options across the top bar.

The main problem I have is that the whole terrain jerks a lot and I find it difficult to manoeuvre around because of it. Has anyone else got this problem? Is it a software or hardware one?

That's all for now.

Just downloaded with only a few problems, ie had to switch off UAC (user access controls) before the program would run completely. I have Windows 7 and Norton.

Created an environment and had a walk through it. It really is awesome. The character entities are so real (especially compared to earlier ones).

Main problem is that it jerks about a lot. Has anyone else had this? Or perhaps this was because it wasn't a saved game.

The sound was ok most of the time.

Looking forward to exploring it more.

We have changed the download to a zip file. This should avoid the virus checking issues.
