I got everything filled out for RTA and I now have a button that says "Ready to publish". With the option to publish or delete the app. When I selected publish I got the message that the app would go live in a few hours. Does this mean it has already been approved for publishing? Since I want to release it on Sunday I unpublished it.

There is no validation process on Google Play, so yes, once you click publish, it will become available to customers as soon as it filters through Google's systems and to the store front. Any validation Google do is done afterwards by browsing through apps already available on the store. However I should point out that the time it takes to actually become visible has gone up a lot in my experience. When I published my first app, it became visible in a couple of hours. However more recently, new apps have taken up to a 2-3 days to become visible. I'm not sure if this has improved now though since the last time I published to Google Play was about a year ago. I hope that helps.

Technically yes, apps for the Google Play Store don't need to be approved, so when your ready for your app to go live just hit "Publish" and it will show up on the Play Store within a few hours.

if u use alpha/beta version, u have a beta tester list,
and a extra be a tester link.
in alpha/beta mode the store entry stay invisible.
the publish take normal 3-4 hours.
be aware, if u set the app to "is cost free" u can not change later.

Thanks for all the replies

I want to release everything at the same time, including new website movies etc. The more happening at the same time the larger the impact. That is just how things work.

I have fixed some last minute bugs and I have published the updated version. We'll see when Google fells like putting it up. Now off to take care of that website before OUYA and PC releases.

If anyone wonders, the PC version was authorized 7 hours ago. The download was visible on my PC so I thought everybody could see it.

And I should probably direct people over to my WIP thread:

Thanks Rickynzx
