Hi guys, thought you all might like to know what TDavid and I just found.
He found his game, Birney's Run, on Android Pit and it had 14 downvotes and 1 upvote. We thought it was a bit harsh, but who knows, right? So he looked at Sudoku In Space, the same exact downvotes and upvotes! So I started digging... and the following all have the same:
Best Night Light
Kayak Escape
Keep In
Prove Your Worthiness
Rush To Adventure

Seems a bit too much to be a coincidence and other android games on the site don't have this same 14-1 score. Also seems to be games just in the past couple of months.

Just way to coincidental for my tastes, but anyway...
Can we all go to this site and upvote each other's games?
I haven't done anything yet except for Sudoku In Space and Birney's run because I wanted you all to see the numbers.

at my games at google play i often have same count of 5 and 1 stars.
i think some of this bad votings are people that provide game marketing. also possible are someone that want bring up his own product.
at google i made a request that people must select a reason
or explanation at votings.

you can do that in the play store ? How ?

On topic, the fact that the -14 +1 ratings only concerns us agk users is quite suspicious. Other games have different ratings. It's not like we all released our games at the same time before someone ran a script on the whole website.

A bit of paranoia doesn't hurt.

Anonymous ratings, are useless, unless the user base for that project is enormous, like movies, that millions are watching.

If people had to sign with a real name, to vote, I think things would be different.

I'm sure that kind of behavior probably goes against the terms and conditions of the site (i.e. "We expect people to treat each other respectfully and maintain a friendly and polite tone" and "Only one account is permitted per user" - 14 down-votes for every new app sounds like one person with multiple user accounts to me). Might be worth submitting a complaint query to the site owners? http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/contact/form

this does not only happen with android. it also happens on the apple appstore

you can leave a 1 star rating with no text review, and no one will ever know who you are

your game will just go down in the ranks even if you have 50 5 star votes, you won't get back to 5 full stars overall

someone left such a bad comment on one of my games and the download numbers suddenly fell miserably! mind you this is a free game. if you don't like it, fair enough, just delete it, you wasted no $ on it!

so in the end this story happens to all of us and curators of the appstores are not here to help!

This isn't in the Android store. This is a separate site that doesn't really have anything to do with the android store. Sudoku In Space has 21 5-star ratings and 1 4-star rating on Google Play.
Android Pit is a fairly popular review site that pulls app data from the store and then allows users to downvote or upvote the apps.
This thread was built specifically to address Android Pit, not the Google Play market. If you want to discuss that, please let's do it in another thread (I agree with some of your notions, but Google won't listen anyway).

On Android Pit you must create a sign in and after we saw so many of the same exact number of downvotes for AppGameKit games we started to be suspicious.
For this reason I say "Check you games on Android Pit"
Post a link here and go and upvote each other's games. It only takes a moment to help out your fellow developers.

is android pit something that you need to submit your games to or do they just take the playstore library and rank them?

if its something to submit games to then im just not going to.

No, they automatically pull from the store.
I had no idea my games were even listed there until TDavid pointed it out.

RTA have 4.3 average on Google play, only 4 1-star ratings. The rest are 3 and up. With 51 ratings.

I didn't find RTA on Android Pit. But taking one in the list, Temple Rush Maxx Adventure also have 1-14 in ratings. And I don't think that one is made in AGK. And same with Monster Orc Rush. Some do have other ratings like Relic Rush have 4-1.

They're actually quite popular.
How old is Mass Conflict? My apps that are more than a couple months old don't have this 14 downvote thing either.

I just sent them a report of this and a list of the apps that I found with 14 downvotes that are AppGameKit apps.

Also I am finding all of these games via the Showcase thread.
Shape Time didn't get this treatment and was released in April/May, so it doesn't go back very far. This seems fairly recent.

same here (3x apps), seems it is a bug from android pit.
one game is not agk, it was made with fusion.

I don't disagree. Unfortunately there are a lot of sites like this, just Android Pit seems to be the only one that is popular. We get Google alerts pretty frequently for sites that have mirrored the play store for our games. Almost all of the sites are junk, but AndroidPit is actually used by folks.

massconflict was released this year around feburary/march area.

my oldest game on there is ice brawlers which has a 4 up 1 down... fairly simular to massconflict.

maybe my apps got in just before this started happening.

One AppGameKit app I have on there has 3 up, 1 down. Another (non-AGK) has 4 up, 1 down (both very old and the AppGameKit one wasn't added to gallery as I recall). It looks like this site just scraps all the app data from Google Play including download count, so you really have no insight into how many may be downloading it from that site itself.

Either way it's peculiar to get such downvotes. AppGameKit V 2.0 also has 14 down and 1 up. If this is someone's agenda it is quite pathetic--but similar things happened at the FPS Reloaded forums where anyone who submitted new content to the gallery would get downvoted like crazy. Hmm.

I think the one responsible for this (if anyone) started to do this recently.

My game wasn't on the gallery so if there actually is someone behind this, he finds our apps directly on the forum.

Thanks for the help guys, it seems more like they are the apps listed in the Showcase thread as that's where I went to start matching them up and found all of the above so immediately.
Hopefully it is not someone maliciously doing this, but I contacted Android Pit in hopes that they will investigate. If it is the same accounts downvoting those apps then it's pretty ridiculous and I hope they ban the accounts.
Why someone would do this is beyond me so hopefully it is just a weird glitch in their system that just happens to be affecting us.

Trionix doesn't fit the profile. It's on page 4 in the showcase forum. From what Naphier gathered, only the most recent games were downvoted.

We still don't know if it's a coincidence, though.

It's been over a week and no response from Android Pit to my query as to why this was happening so frequently. I sort of doubted they would comment anyway. I'll make sure to post if I ever hear from them.

Wrapping this up.
Seems like they admit to having a fault in their system that cause this issue for our apps and many others. They claim to have fixed it and removed the erroneous downvotes.
Here's the reply I got on the forums:

FYI Android Pit App Store will be shutting down at the end of this year. I say good riddance.
