Hello,

I'm having a go at making a Zelda-inspired game in DBpro. Just wanted to share this very early screenshot with you guys. Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome!

Looks really cool! You should upload an image of the game in action!

Don't forget that you can embed images etc in the post, just use [ img ]URL[ /img ] (without the spaces).

cheers

Thank you! I will as soon as there is any action to show

Ah yes I forgot about that, thanks. I'll embed them next time

Really great looking man, you do the hand painted style well. Looking forward to see how this shapes up.

This sort of project has a lot of potential, the challenge will be to give it something unique that makes it zelda inspired and not zelda clone. Good luck!

Thank you very much guys for your kind words. I agree with you Ortu that it needs something special to set it apart from the Zelda series. Any suggestions is appreciated!

I am for example thinking about some sort of basic survival system in which you need to gather food and drink to stay alive instead of collecting hearts.

I like the idea of having a, somewhat, simple survival system. Maybe you could grow crops outside your house? Just a thought.

cheers

A little bush chopping action I'll try to get a video uploaded soon with some enemies and perhaps an indoor scene.

Thank you. All thanks to Evolved's advanced lighting routines. The overall style is inspired by 3D dot game heroes which is an awesome little game.

I agree with the other posters, really awesome looking graphics-wise and it seems like you are well versed in the programming aspects as well what with the quick implementation of the harvesting feature
I'm looking forward to see how this will develop.

Also nice to see more swedish people around here, let me know if you want to team up on something sometime...

Here is a shot of the first enemy of the game; the nasty Swineosaur!

I will try to get a video up by next week to show some of the current gameplay.

Sorry for the slow updates but work has been getting in the way of game making. But I've got most of the physics sorted as well as enemies, attacks, blocking and some effects up and running anyway.

The water looks a bit flat right now as I've had to rework it due to some graphical glitches, but it'll get better

It does remind me of 3d dot game heroes, great game right there. I like the stars above the monsters head after being hit, more bugs bunny type cartoon effects like that would be awesome.

Great looking screen shots. Evolved shaders really make it pop.
At this point we must have video clips.

Are you using a physics engine?

This looks really good. Agree with Chris, need to see some video clips or, even better, a playable demo.

Hi guys, sorry for the late replies but I've been busy at work again. I'm hoping that I'll be able to spend some more time on the game in the beginning of April. Also with any luck I'll have a video up by the end of next week.

Thank you Much of the credit should really go to Evolved, though.

Yeah I totally agree! It lightens everything up and makes it more fun

I hear you! Still, would be nice to be able to earn a living from making games. Seems to be something only a few lucky people get to do.

Thank you I'm hoping to get a video up by the end of next week. Hope you'll check it out I am using good old Newton for physics. Perhaps its a bit dated but it still gets the job done (sorta like DBpro, really) and I really like Newton's super fast raycasting and collission checks.

Thank you very much. It really means a lot. A video is on the way, but I fear that a playable demo is still quite far away :/
I just checked out Purple Complex and wow, really nice game! It felt very polished and I really enjoyed the art style. Reminded me somewhat of System Shock

So here is a little video of the game so far:

Sorry for the low quality but my computer lags when I record in 1080p with FRAPS so I had to go half size.
