I know its a polygon but do I have to place texture in 3d editing program?

I don't know what modeling program you're using, but it looks like the model isn't mapped correctly. I'd check the uv's.

Yeah, I agree with Watty - looks like all the UV cords are at 0,0 - so everything is just coloured with the pixel at the top left.

Lithunwrap is a pretty good UV map editor, well worth experimenting with and figuring UV mapping out. I think it's free and you should be able to get a download somewhere. The commercial version Ultimate Unwrap 3D is better, but the free version is still great.

My guess is that it hasn't got any UV coordinates at all. Some modelling packages, such as MilkShape, don't provide UV coordinates by default so you'll need to add them.

Thanks I appreciate it.. I put the object in fragmotion and the UV map was all over the place so I ended up making a sofa from scratch in MapScape until I understand more about UV particulars.. thanks!!
