If somebody is interested, I've started writing a program that can open original .AMOS source files and view them.

http://www.geocities.com/gaultd_81/programming.html

I started it just to study the format of the file, and I don't think it'll ever be finished, so I've included the source code for anyone to play with.

For people with amos and an amiga, or emulator, it's still alot easier to just load the source code in amos and save it as ascii then transfer it to your pc.

Is the AMOS compiler available from anywhere, but of course producing windows .EXE files?

The 3d chat is coming...
In the meantime, come in the IRC. Ask me for details!!.

Perhaps there is an amiga emulator that would allow me to run it.
Cant be bothered going to find it though...

I'm shocked someone who's been around here as long as you would ask such a newb question

I remember seeing something ages ago, the source code to AMOS. It may have been for an amiga emulator or something.

You can get the source code to AMOS from the ClickTeam web site (they made it and released the assembler quite some time ago onto the web).

You can get the AMOS, AMOS Compiler, AMOS 3D, AMOS Professional disks from http://www.back2roots.org/ and an amiga disk viewer from http://www.viksoe.dk/adfview/
That will let you extract AMOS programs from the amiga disks, and load them in my program

But if you want to run AMOS, you will need an emulator, the disks, and some roms.
You can get the emulator, WinUAE from http://www.winuae.net/
You can get the roms from a real life amiga that you must own
Or:
You can purchase the commercial package, Amiga Forever, from http://www.amigaforever.com/ which contains WinUAE and special versions of the amiga roms

You should find AMOS is very similar to DarkBASIC

STOS ??? loool
Amiga was better than Atari ... so AMOS was better than STOS ....
It's only my opinion

I have many amos source code in my Amiga emulator drawer ( I own Amiga500,A500+MKIII[ActionReplay],Amiga500+,Amiga1200,AmigaCD32 .... personnal collection )

And amos was really excellent ... ( and STOS too I presume )
There was AmosPro too .. does STOS Pro exist ???

you can grab Amos/Stos compiler source code here :
http://www.clickteam.com/English/download_section.php?PID=2&SID=5&Sname=Main+Download ( Official website )

The top should be to have an amos data bank loader/saver in dbpro
wow wow wow ! the top

Awesome program! I am using it in Virtual PC right now on my Mac...

Thank you! Now I can open the AMOS source code files I have on CD with the Windows XP Pro system I am building very shortly.
