Finally, after much work, have been able to release beta version 2 of my new map editor, Map Edit.

Map Edit is a map editor for matrix deforming and world layout. It exports Dark Basic code to load the map. This is for Dark Basic Pro only. It now comes with a world loading file that you can include in your DBP project to load worlds in your games.

It currently has matrix tools, lighting tools, and hotspot tools. It is very easy to use and is explained further on my website.

You can download the latest version off my site:

Guess I'll try it after my French exam!

Sorry about pics. I made this post before going to bed .

@andrew neale
It's real easy to use and not hard to learn how to use. I've got most of the bugs out of it so far.

Cool!

This would be very useful for my games... You need object placement now though! Could you make it so things could be placed with the mouse?

and add the feature to add cubes and basic primitive objects?

But anyway cool, keep up the good work !

Working on it

Quote: "you make it so things could be placed with the mouse"

You can . In the menu, there are things with the word tool in it, like 'position light tool'. In the treeview, you select the one you want to position.

So lets say you select 'position light tool' in the menu and in the treeview, click on 'Light1', you can position Light1 with the mouse by clicking anywhere on the screen.

I have made a little clip of me using Map Edit for those who need extra help learning how to use it because the help file has not been made yet.

It was recorded at low quality, using a bad screen record until I get a better one, and at a low frame rate. That is why it looks like it is going really slow. I will not be held responsible for any injurys that take place by watching this clip

Edit:
Clip is now outdated and will eventually make a new one.

I have created a forum with proboards. You can post questions about Map Edit on it. There are other sections on it, but I created it mostly for Map Edit.

I have gotten most object tools done and object creation, but have run into a little problem(s) .

1. When I make a cylinder, most of the object does not show. Why is this? BTW, if it is any help, my camera is rotated at 45 degrees.

2. The color object command is not working right. It is the normal color object number, color command, but for some reason, it doesn't work right. It only does different shades of grey.

3. I need to see if my download is working right. If everyone could tell me if it is working or not when you run it on your computer. It works on mine, but some people say it is not working.

No replys

Anyway, I got another, and much easier to use file host, www.savefile.com, and have downloads redirected to new server.

Also, Map Edit V0.3 is out ! Almost everything is done in that version except the help file. There are only a few unsorted bugs left to fix and stuff so expect V1.0 in another few weeks. Images below.

Would you like to intergrate Map Edit into my current editor I am making: SpecterEdit. My editor will be able to place prefabs for Cshop into worlds, and it can put in objects with an entity flag that will be read in DBP so you can determin how the object will act. The program can also do paths and timelines, but I am having trouble with some of the matrix editing. Let me know if you are interested.

I wouldn't integrate Map Edit into your Specter Edit, but I would gladly program you a matrix editing tool for your editor, seperate from, which would not be map edit, but it would be similar.

All I would ask would be my name in the credits, with a link to my site.

Let me see a current copy of your program so far, and a link to information about it and I'll concinder doing you a matrix editor.

I am pretty busy at the moment, so this would have to be worth it.

BTW, my email is neodragon64@hotmail.com.

Doing the main menu for the help file and changing a couple things in the actual program. Expect it being done in a day or so. I mean it this time

I am also working on, seperatly, version 2.0, which will support many new DBP features and have a redesigned GUI that is easier to use. Expect DBC support, Matedit matrix loading, heightmap to matrix functions, more sound functions, and maybe shader support in the Version 2.

I'm so f***ing mad
I have worked on Map Edit for almost 6 months, if not more, and it was working prefectly. All the sudden, when loading a map, the object won't load properly, and wont show up.

I am, though, also working on Version 2.0 already, which is completely redone, making it fast and more powerful, likw DBC and DBP. I may just release this very buggy version and then release Version 2.0 later. Or, I can just release Version 2.0 when it is done. I am working on fixing these little problems, but if I can't get them fixed, you'll have to deal with a buggy program that doesn't work properly until Version 2.0 *gasp for breath*

EDIT:
I found the problem and am fixing it. It was a problem with the alpha mapping
