Oooooooh, psychodelic . I really like the seamless landscapes, I presume you made them with some sort of a 2D scrolling shooter in mind. The other textures would look good in a game menu or arcade game background. It certainly looks like you've spent a lot of time on these . Thanks for the generous contribution .

thanks Hamish,

yeah they took a wee while to make, I had to figure out a way to get the relief and shadow effect to tile seamlessly as well as the texture, but i sussed it out with only minor hair loss, then there's the incident with the landscapes, where i anti alised the images and created nice dark edges to screw everything up, so i had to redo those. They're intended for scrolling shooters just like you said. It's better to give than to recieve..... or so they say, have you ever heard such rubbish. haha.

cheers m8, grant.

Looks stylish, but what are the tiles to be used for in a game?

we use these kinds of tiles in 'arcade' style games, you know, like the backdrops in those lovely nintendo and sega games of old. you can also texture stuff with them, and because they are seamless and many of them are interchangable without seams.........ROFL....

@jeku, your very welcome m8.

It's the upgrade... basicly they sorted out a few bugs, added more functionality, and a lot more genrosity.

At any rate, I'm definately going to test out some of those seamless landscapes

hi big add,

I made them in corel photo paint, no generators used for any of the tiles, only other proggie was bryce for the landscapes.

cheers m8,

grant.

PS.
I can see why you ask, it's the relief and shadow wrapping right? it took a while but now i have a good system for making those kinds of tiles. i'll do a tutorial at some point as its a very powerfull technique for making textures, and it can be done with any decent image editor. no special softs needed.

I'll have to work out the best way to make the tut, a video in photoshop would probably work or paint shop pro. either way it'll be quite large, theres a lot to cover if your going to avoid all the pitfalls i fell into. I think I can pull it off though. half video, half documents.

i'll need to think about that.

glad you like the tiles peter.

cheers m8,
grant.

I had to start using PNG peter, otherwise TGC's server would be bursting at the seams with all the whopping great bitmaps. PNG is a funny beast, but the file sizes make it appealing.

cheers, grant.
