hay all.
Made a fair bit of progress lately, especially after the major brain fart i had. Anyway, heres a new demo for ya's.

Now I know it looks pretty plain still, but i have been mainly working on the engine lately, tweaking ect.

Ok. Onto the demo, the keys are:
(When u begin you will have to press t to start with, its a bug i keep overlooking for more important things )
T - make map tiny and zoom in
R - restore map to original size
upkey - turn volume up
downkey - turn volume down
if you have enough mana:
I - will raise ground around your hand
U - will create a mountain at your hand, evicting the enemy(or yourself), becarefull where you use it.(only way to kill enemy for now)
`escape` - will ask if you would like to quit ect...(u know the drill)

Some sound effects have been incorperated.

and thats about it for game play, but be sure, the enemy wont go to long with out trying to defeat you.

Ok, now this is still early beta remember.
No fighting yet.
No map testing on evil god.(if he builds outside map, it will crash).
Try and resist the urge to build on enemy land.(u cant drown them now)
The mana cheat is gone for the demo(work for it )

and theres a few other things that need doin to, but just wanted a new demo to hand out .


sorry, no screen shots, looks the same as before.

And thats it, for now. Enjoy. And as usuall, post any critisism/notes/ideas.

Looking for artists still if anyone is interested.

ok back again.
Halo Man , nah not giving up. just struggling doin it all solo, im learning as i go, so some things i add, do get takin out again and re written till i think i cant optimise anymore ect.


Hawkeye, everytime it loads or just occasionally.

And has had a face lift.(not this demo)
The buttons at the top arent actually buttons, they apear when u have enough mana to cast that spell. You will see that in the next demo.

Looking good. I got slightly addicted already in the current state .

I noticed that the enemy seem to be expanding like a thing possesed and your player seems to plod along very very slowly. I'm not sure if I remember from populous the rules for this kind of thing.

Keep up the good work. I know that feeling of learning as you go solo. It wasnt until someone offered to help me with the graphics on my project that I ended up progressing a lot faster.

Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next demo.

ok,
in this demo the ai has been restricted, no more crashes(if u had any). Mainly had a face lift, some other small bugs squashed.

I chose another map, the first one is really hard at the start, and as you will see with even terrain its pretty easy to keep up.

the game doesnt detect if evil is wiped out yet, if u do kill him off, it will just keep running.

You can no longer build on enemy territory or even build outside ur area of influence( sounds cool aye ).

spell icons appear as u gain mana to use them. Oh, and the 2 bars are:
top = your mana
bottom = evils mana(was for debbugin, but im liking the way u can see how fast they grow)

flag pole has 2 flags, green your population, orange is evils.





Keys:
up & down arrow = volume
U = cast mountain
I = lift terrain
mouse keys = raise and lower terrain
escape = quit


and that covers everything this update, next one in a few weeks, when i add some more spells, Any 1 have a spell they would like to see?

It doesn't work. It loads about 2/3 of the stuff and then it closes and it says that it cannot load bitmap at line 800. Looks cool though. I have an idea for a spell. It could be a lightning storm that you can do over the enemy base, and whatever the lightning touches gets destroyed.

Worked fine for me. That was Awesome!! The day to right cycle was great, but you should consider making the coulds 3d parts of the world, and have them become transparent if they obscure your veiw. It could even become a dynamic part of the gameplay.

u mean trees and housing become transparent if your hand is behind them?, If so, yes working on that aswell.

Might make them semi transparent and let them float above the play area.

you need a way of being able to see how much mana you have, or something. correct me if im wrong but i cant find any indicators. i managed to mountain my base twice by accident
