Hi there,
I run an online t-shirt shop and after finding these forums and seeing that there are plenty of talented artists around here, I thought it would be a good idea to start a competition to find the best retro games development inspired t-shirt design. Vector designs are what I’m looking for.
I will be accepting submissions for the next four weeks and the winning designer will receive
$100 plus a free t-shirt with their design on it.
Before submitting this post, I spoke to one of the moderators, Richard Davey. He said that I should make it clear that I won’t be using any designs submitted to sell except for the winning one. I would like to make it absolutely clear that any designs I use I will pay for. The winning design will receive $100 prize money and if I want to use any other designs that are submitted I will get in touch with the designer and offer to pay them my standard rate.
Here are some guidelines for anyone that wishes to submit a design:
4 colours or less
Pantone Colours
No gradients
As high res as possible
Photoshop or Illustrator images preferred but if not, a vector based program.
Nothing offensive
Copyright free
Each color seperated onto its own layer
Please ensure that colors do not overlap
I use american apparel t-shirts. Here is a link to the colours they supply:
Male
Female
Here is how ownership of the designs will work:
If this is one of your original designs, you will retain ownership of the image and will give me permission to print it onto t-shirts and sell them. I would appreciate it if you didn’t sell the design to other t-shirt websites. At least while I was selling it from my site.
Please send designs to designs@bangbangt-shirts.com with the subject "TGC Design Competition".
Have fun and good luck!

Additional tipcs courtesy of Jeff Miller:
1. The four color limitation does not include the color of the blank. So e.g. four colors other than white printed on a white shirt permits use of white as an additional color within the design.
2. Please use spot colours
3. Designs preferably in CMYK.
Jeff has made an excellent post regarding these three tips on page 2. Thanks Jeff
