Ah okey,
I was always wondering why you did putted my Tomb-Pack in your game.

I mean this is a quality game, but my models weren't.
Anyway it is still a nice idea that some of my models
are used in such a fine game!

And i am thinking of buying this game when i have the chance.

Oops, I meant the self extracting thing.

Anyways, the way you organized the files is terrible. You need to put all of the media and all of the .exe to one folder, and write the level that you want to load to the setup.ini file. That way, you don't need to include all of the media three times. This reduces file size a lot in the long run.

@Cheese Cake

Try to start the files kap1.exe / kap2.exe / kap3.exe, if the book doesn`t work - actually, we never had that problem...

Edit: Do you use Vist ?! And did you restart the PC after DirectX install?

@Inspire We had the space, as it was a DVD release anyway, and so we have the option the exchange and modify complete levels without a problem. If we want to add different textures for the same entity, this is a practicable yet space-demanding way

Ertlov i will try that.

I have Vista.
But havent installed the DirectX yet.

---EDIT---

I played the game and this is what i noticed.
The lighting was placed very good.
The sound effects where great.
Like when you where heading towards a room and just in front of the door.
You hear a radio or such that was pretty funny.
Also the enemy his voice was good.
But the lighting from the fire wasnt that good.
The fire itself was a little bit orange and the lighting
was red so.
The texture from the segments where great!
I died at the room where you hear the radio and then i just exited the game because i had to eat.
But i will play soon and tell you what i thought of it.

The game officially doesn`t support vista. A seperate Vista Patch with the book in .net format will be released.

However, if you have the DirectX installed, you can play the chapters by starting the exes directly. And the intro movie is in the root folder.

Stop thinking shooter-like, try thinking adventurestyle

The skeleton in the left corner holds a pistol in his hands, you can take this and blow up the barell in front of the window (from a decent distance), the window eill be shattered to pieces, and you can shoot again (2-3 times) to blow up what is behind.

Then walk to the window, jump on the window sill and crouch into madness...

The game is not about shooting, as I told sometimes before, its also about searching and finding necessary things, avoiding gunfights und solving riddles.

However, you`ll have enough opportunities to kill!

Yeah, but I missed that, and there is no way to talk to him again.

Also, I fell through the ground. This is probably FPSC's fault, though, but still, GRR!

I'm sorry Ertlov, but I don't like your game.

First of all, the visuals aren't that fantastic. I don't care about shaders, I don't care about high poly models, but there are some things that bug me. First of all, the lighting the fireplaces isn't good whatsoever. You should use a different color, one that's orange or something. The light in a fireplaces isn't consistent, either. Make it flicker. And since you're selling this game, I think that you should take the time and rig the MP5 hands to the Colt45, and give it a retexture. A gun without a hand looks stupid, in my opinion.

The menu graphics were top notch. But the game launcher looked pretty stupid when the command line popped up. As far as I can tell, this doesn't happen with DarkBasic, so you might want to give that a look.

The sound in the game was also very good. The voice acting was the best I've seen out of an FPSC game, and the music was good too. I love the sound the radio makes as you walk by it.

Last thing: the gameplay. This aspect of the game was terrible. The enemies were too hard to kill. It's not like I died, because there was health all over, but killing the enemies seemed stupid and boring to me. I'm all for puzzles, but these were repetitive and generic. Stack something to get to the higher platform. Rinse and repeat. They were also very difficult to me. If you want to have a jumping puzzle with dynamic objects, TURN THE FRICTION UP! The cylinders (for lack of a better word) were sliding all over the place, and made the game annoying and frustrating. I couldn't even get past the room with the electrical thing through the center because the jumping puzzle made me want to throw myself off a building.

My honest opinion: decent. Better than most people's games, but not nearly as good as I expected, compared to some of the other games around here that aren't funded and aren't being published.

I accept your opinion.

Most of the points (especially the balancing) will be tweaked with the coming patch.

By the way - there is no puzzle that has to be solved by stacking dynamic objects ?!

When you fall down into the well (tunnel?), how do you get out of there, then? The player says the the cylinders will be useful. Don't say I have to shoot them...Wait, I think I just figured it out. lol

You`ll never find a puzzle which has to be solved by stacking objects, and no action ever will be depending on friction of objects

But you will often have to "think around" the corner, in this case even "blast" around the corner...

Ok.

Here are my thoughts.

I really enjoyed how you made me feel like I was the character, and not some random guy shooting over explosive weapons at never ending guards. You could tell there was story put into it, and there was effort taken. The beginning room was annoying at first, until I shot the barrell out of screwing around for a half an hour, and it blew up!
So, I got the idea to destroy the generator as well. I liked it, but you could've made it more obvious to the player on what to do.

The only thing that really bothered me was the fire lighting. Honestly, that sucked. It was just a red light set to about 70 radius. You should've placed a light orange light over it, and made it flicker, by making it dynamic, and giving it light2.fpi.

Then, I played chapter 3.
Chapter 3 was short, but very entertaining. The lighting was too sharp and pitch black in some places, but it blended in well with the artificial, horrific atmosphere the player was in. I definitely give you a 10/10 on the sounds. (Laughter, etc.) I pissed myself when I heard it.

Overall, the cutscenes were great, the acting was believable, and the voices were also very nice. Reminded me of Max Payne. (You said he did the voice, right?)

8.7/10.
87%/100%

I will buy this game, and I will enjoy it, because the gameplay aspect was very fun indeed. I do not think the enemies were too hard, maybe it's just because Inspire isn't good at gaming.
(Just kiddin'.)

Awesome work.

The patch we are working on is also fixing the fire light issue. It looks really horrible and I can`t tell why I or the second LD didn`t fix that before going gold, but I can tell we were to stressed in the end to make some minor thigns we had in mind...

Quote: "
I saw Anderson & The Legacy of Cthulhu being pirated on a major piracy site, I was shocked they already had their hands on the game.

I can take down the pirated links for you if you want, or I can give them to you if you want to take them down yourself."

Pelase take it down.

And I AM aware of the pirated version:

http://forum.jowood.com/showpost.php?p=2121982&postcount=8

BTW: I think inspire is good at gaming, but I would give quite something to see his thoughts during gaming. I really choked on my coffee and spilled it over my keys when I read that he tried to climb out of the well by stacking barells...

This shouldn`t be possible at all!

There is no installer...

After extracting, you start the "book" exe in the extracted folder.

If you have vista, you`ll have to play the intro by hand and to start each kap.exe in the data\kap folders to play.

Ertlov,

I've been busy and only still in the first chapter. So far it's interesting and I'm glad I read your little hint about the barrel in the first room. I think I know better what to look for from here.

I was pleasantly surprised to see my Maintenance Stairs in the second room. I feel like a modeler now. LOL

Great work and fun to play.

Thanks.

Don`t rely on MHZ, rely on the CPU Type, only a fast Pentium D / Athlon 64, a Core2Duo, Centrino Duo or AMD X2 System will do the trick...

"Old-school" Celerons and P4s aren`t supported

Yeah, we don`t know the reason, but all Beta Testers with Athlon XPs had high framerates we couldn`t explain...

Perhaps has AMD a secret pact with the Great Old Ones, and Cthulhu himself lends those CPUs a part of R`ylehs power to calculate ^^
