As a judge, i advise everyone to make a showcase thread, not to put the moderators in overdrive, but if you made a mistake here and there, or you were unable to achieve a desireable outcome with certain aspects of your game, the /20 points for making a thread is something to fall back on incase things go wrong, everyone makes mistakes, and a thread isn't hard to make.

Just my word of advice.

I agree, being that this topic has a new page everytime I log on, you're game may not be judged, because we over look it.

You worry me, crispex. What does that mean? I didn't look back to see if you're a judge in this, but if you are, that's a pretty sorry thing to say.

Best.

Don't worry about that. I'm tracking this contest and nobody will be overlooked. The progress threads are optional for extra points. They're not used for tracking. Your submission to our server and emails with links to your server is what I will go by. Crispex is a judge, not an administrator.

I understand why.

However, a vague description and a generic, though relevant screenshot will suffice for the minimum points.

@Contest Judges: I will compile the scoresheet and evaluation guidelines this week and forward them to you. I know it's early for
this, but you will have a heads up as to what you'll be doing.

When you make your progress thread in the Showcase, make sure you include an in-game screenshot or it will get locked immediately without any warning or explanation.

It's not limited to those listed. Why did you think that? The list is to aid in keeping track and so everyone has an idea of who's probably entering.

I've added you to the list.

@darkfact when we build our game should we have shaders on or off, i think that it can be adjusted in the setup text file, but which should we do?

@i want to game: You can turn them on or off. I always turn them on before building a game, even if I'm not going to use them. This way, the correct .fx files are copied into the game directory. If I later want them off, then I do what you said and edit the ini file.

Hi all, this is looking good. Good luck to all that enter.
Sorry if this has been covered. Just have 2 questions I would like to ask.

1.
Quote: "You must submit your entry non-packaged. Zipped only
for verification of files.
"

If people are making custom media, what is the safety of the media not being leaked once being judge? (To all judges, Im not referring to anyone)

2. As this is classed as a mini game contest.
Are games intended to be cut short at the end of the required levels used. So that if the game was made into a full game the mini game story would lead on?
Or. Is this intended for a mini game that has a ending? (ending I mean end of the story, not just the ending of say level 3).
Thanks.

I trust everyone I have asked to be a judge. The list is posted on the first page. If you have a reason to believe any of them would leak your media for some reason, please send me an email and tell me why.

The conclusion of the last level does not have to conclude the story of the game. It's up to the developer. Each level should have a natural stopping point, with some sort of closure, but not necessarily a landmark in the story of the game. A level change can be done simply to move the current part of the story along without a definitive line denoting a plot change.

The short answer is this: It's up to the developer.

Thanks for the fast reply. I have no problem with this, just thought it hadn't been mentioned.
I have full faith in who ever judges and yourself, this question wasnt directed towards anyone, just a general Q. and thanks for your Answer.
