Spotaru

Here is a pic from the game that shows a typical platform. The reason they have to be made this way is so that players can go up through them, yet can land/walk/battle on them.

@ LBFN
Still not exactly sure what you're looking for. The pic isn't very clear. Anyway, Here is what I think you're after. If it's not let me know. Or if you want to make your own platform, just use one of the "urnskin" textures from the desert props download, on the first page of this thread, to texture it. That way it will blend in with the house models.

The platform should work great (I made one minor edit). Thanks so much for the models and textures.

Best to you,

Spotaru if you're still making things would you be so kind to make me some modern shops or modern houses that you can walk into?

This would be greatly sppreciated, if you're not making anymore I understand. Thankyou .

Some shops would probably be best .

I haven't posted anything in a while because I've been a little busy working on a castle for a project of my own. I'm not sure if I'll make this one available for free or not. It's taken alot of time to get the poly count down without sacrificing detail. It's based on a similar one I downloaded off the internet somewhere. It was a free model, but the poly count was like 60,000. Mine is only 12,000 Here's a shot of the untextured model. I'll start working on some more free stuff when I get it UV mapped.

@ Kerrby
I don't know about the houses. I might. It's a lot of work to do them with interiors.

@ First Company Veteran
They are just average. If you think those are good. You should see the ones that I don't make for free. Besides, I just love making models for the fun of it.

@ Beast
I'm sorry! I completely missed your request for a fortress post.
I saw it today for the first time.
As soon as I finish my castle. I'll see what I can come up with.

Spotaru,

Wow. Very nice work on the castle. Even if it isn't to be free, please make this available to the community at some point. Please?

Your stuff is top-notch, and it's very generous of you to offer these models, the way you do.

Thanks,

Seth Black

That's a pretty cool castle. Just a thought maybe exted the outer wall and give the central house a new roof( a roof that looks medeieval because that roof looks newer like modern where it is shaped to let water drain off), then again that's just my 2 cents. All the best,

Along with whats Beat said, you also have to make the castle walls alot farther apart or you're only going to be able to fit 1 house

I've made the walls alot farther apart to make room for more buildings. I also added a second gateway.

very, very nice models, these are incredible. AND FREE!!! W00T!

may i just throw in a suggestion for your future models though?
add more to the bottom so we dont have to put them on perfectly flat terrain, like this:

this way we can put them on hills and shuch

Almost finished with the castle. I should be done sometime today.
Thanks to TGC. I am honored to be in the newsletter, even though, I wasn't expecting it. Thanks to everyone for your support and patience while I worked on the castle. I had not made up my mind whether I would make it free or not, But I have decided to let it be free. Should be up for download in a day or so.

FINISHED!
Now I need criticizm or suggestions to help improve the castle before I release it. Final poly count is about 32,000. I can probably lower that count, but would sacrifice in detail. Here's a few new renders.

excellent, what do you use to make your buildings?

And a way to improve the castle qould to add a water fountain, that would make it look even better (unless that circular thingy is a fountain, then once ir has water, then it will look great.)

I use 3d Canvas Pro to build all my models. UV done with Ultimate Unwrap Pro.

Quote: "circular thingy "
is a fountain. Already has water in it. The flow from the fountain into the pool would need to be done in the engine, with a particle system.

Neato!

The only thing I would change at first glance would be to add a large, main gate, rather than those small doors you have currently. This would probably make it more useful in games.

Looks really awesome Spotaru.

Have you ever put any of your work into a game?
I think it really deserves it!

I'll keep you at the top of my list for the games I'm developing. Eventually, I'll replace all my lame placeholders with someone's professional work.

I think that castle fits fore a RTS, as it looks at least 10 times better higher up than close up.

Amazing work Spotaru! Some criticism, the towers on the main church/ building look extradionarly high compared to the rest of the castle, but could just look that way from the view. Beside's that the castle looks rather well laid out. Feedback for your founatin it would look more medieval if it were a special design. Loving your work. All the best,

@ Xenocythe
No I haven't put any of my models into a game. I've only been programing about a year and a half, so I'm not very good at it yet. I have built some worlds with my models. Just walking around looking at stuff, but no game play. I have been asked to join a few teams, but I don't think I'm that good.

@ Alucard
Thanks for the comments. I've been looking at your models too. I think you are quite talented. Keep up the good work.

@ Beast
I haven't forgotten about your request for a desert fortress. I'll try to get something going soon.

@ Sgt El Zilcho
Why did you remove your request for a windmill? I have already downloaded the pic and I think I can make something similar, if you are still interested.

@ bmaczero
I have rebuilt one of the gates. It's much bigger and will probably have an iron gate or drawbridge.

@ everyone
I am in the process of improving all the textures. The cobblestones on the ground are not really a part of the model. It's just a picture pasted on a plain to see what it would look like. I really want it to be grass with paths leading around the place with trees and plants everywhere. I just haven't gotten that far yet. Thanks for all the suggestions and patience while I finish the castle. I only get to work on maybe 1 or 2 hours a day. Some days, not at all.

Which Version of FPSC are these made for ?. None of them show up in the Library under the entities or the segments. It looks like the are missing the fpe files or something.
