I'll be coming too - hoping Paul Johnston can answer some awkward shader queries ...

Not convinced the counting is right (I think this excludes TGC):

@Mnemonix

Know any cheap deals for travel from Exeter?

Exeter eh? I'll have a look. Watch this space.

Edit: You can go by coach for £16 return. It is a long journey however but I will post the details. (Note that this is for the weekend 5th September to 7th September. October is not bookable yet).

5th September
Depart at 02:45am Exeter - London. Arrive at 07:00am
Depart at 08:00am London - Leeds. Arrive at 12:15pm

7th September
Depart at 17:00am Leeds - London. Arrive at 21:45pm
Depart at 23:00pm London - Exeter. Arrive at 03:15am

I know its a dodgy journey but if the price is an issue, all 4 coaches only cost a combined price of £16.

I have done journeys worse than this before.

Just an update on travel advice.

Virgin Trains have a very nice price for the pendolino between london euston and manchester piccadilly. If you book a few weeks in advance you can get fares for £1 each way!. You have to print the ticket yourself though.

Hi All,
I haven't read all posts because I didn't get enough free time for.
(I'll do that later).

I'd like to come at the convention this year. The only problem is that I came from France by Air plane and, due to prices, I must find discount prices that meant that ... some destinations are not handled ...

In fact, I'd like to know if someone come from a big city like Manchester. That should allow me to take the airplane to this city and come with this person from the big city to the convention. Of course, if this person travel using his own car, I will participate on gazoil (price) needs for the travel ...

Regards,
Fred

Im going from Manchester City Center, as I assume Mnemonix may be again, last year we got the coach from Manchester to Leeds, only took about 1 Hour, I think there is a Coach Station in Manchester Airport which you could also go from.

http://www.nationalexpress.com/bp/b2.cfm?id=134467375

Alternativley I think Leeds has an Airport?

Hey Freddix. I would be happy to meet you at Manchester Airport and direct you to the convention . The cost of transport from Manchester is not significant.

Good, another committed Conventionite
People need to start speaking up with a deposit to confirm a place. We cannot ask the conference centre to hold specific conference rooms / bedrooms without the numbers behind it.

I know we'll get the numbers, so we need to make sure we get the best room too

And if anyone wants to design a T-shirt for the con, we might just be able to convince Rick to get something sorted I can't promise he'll print anything, but if something good turns up, we may be in luck.

"I attended before this convention got locked" is not acceptable.

Thanks for the confirmation, Jason.

On the subject of T-shirts, just to rule out the obvious ones and make you work a bit harder...

GG, cheque arrived, thank you.

Unless a few more people sign up soon, we'll be able to forge Lee and thus DB Pro into our very own creation. He was able to hop between requests and somehow evade many of them last time.

Is there any chance I can paypal the deposit and email the form, Batvink? Otherwise i'll have to wait about a week before I can get a new cheque book sent out.

You can use Google Checkout, although we'd prefer to wait for a cheque. We only cover the actual costs, so try to keep down any charges from money launderers...sorry, banks and financial institutions

It could be a week or more before I get a cheque book from by bank. Would a postal order be ok or even just a ten pound note?

I will set up a Google Pay Page as soon as I can, Google Checkout is down at the moment. You will still need to send the form (scanned and emailed is fine too).

Knowing who is seriously considering coming would be useful (although paying a deposit would be better!), time is moving on and planning for numbers is becoming a problem, people are leaving it much later this year!

You can now pay by Google Checkout using the following link:

www.devink.co.uk/convention

This can be used for:

1. Deposits
2. Remaining Balances
3. Full Payment

Please send an email to michelle at devink.co.uk to tie your payment in with your form and forum name.

We're at the point where the venue needs to know numbers in order to plan room availability, and the best room to fit the number of people. So if you plan to be there this year, do let us know ASAP!!!

I've been trying to find out what will be in the "TGC Goodie bag" for the attendees this year. Rick's either keeping it a closely guarded secret, or still scouring the shelves for ideas!

From looking at the Posts, I think that I can spot:

From TGC
Mike, Lee, Rick, Ravey, Paul, Steve and Rich.

Attendees
IanM, Me, Green Gandalf, Scraggle and El Goorf.

I've only scanned the posts so I may (I hope) have missed some and some people may have not posted here.

BTW If anyone is interested, while I'm there, I might be able to show some of the new Microsoft Tech that is out.

Linq (Linq to SQL/Linq to XML)
WCF (Windows communication Foundation/Web Services etc.)
WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation/The new Forms)
XML Literals (Also using Linq)

I've basically been learning them as I'm working on an On line game.

I'm hoping we get a few more takers in the next few days. I realise it's hard to commit early to these things, but it's equally as hard to plan for them!

We've had a couple more today, names I haven't heard of around the forums (unless the missus gave me duff information over the phone earlier). It would be good to see a few new people amongst the regulars.

I know Mnemonix will be there, he is a confirmed addict. There are another 3 confirmed that haven't posted here. I'm not being mysterious, it just wouldn't be right for me to post on behalf of others.

I enjoyed last year but due to my new job October is already scheduled to be a really busy month because of various deadlines. Working weekends has already been mentioned. The drive from mid Essex was also a nightmare.

Hopefully everyone will have a nice time. Try and drink the bar dry again!

Boo!
