How did solidz get 0?

In my original poll I had him down for 1.
Assuming that he'd voted for himself.

Rich ain't gonna take any of this seriously (i don't see how anyone else could tbh) and i think with Mattmans Bush Style vote counting i don't think that anyone else really stands a chance

i still wouldn't mind seriously seeing a TPF forum

pros
-delete/lock posts
-ppl listen to you

cons
-monitoring the newcomers section
-monitoring team request section
-ppl asking you how to become a mod

well, i guess the cons, outwieght the pros.

i think Indi mentioned once, to be a Mod, one of the requirements is at least to have a game/dll/anything useful or fun, made in db or dbp.. i maybe wrong, i know i saw it somewhere in not so recent previous 'i want to be a mod' topics..

I'd probebly be a mod if they asked me, but I'm rather fine not being one now anyway.

cons
-having to constantly rewrite rules for newbies
-always have to be careful about what you post.
(during flame wars/ when helping someone/etc.)

hehehe, i would love to mod, i spend too much time on these forums, and i read, i may not write a lot, but i do read nearly everything. Although at the moment i ignore some posts, like Database' ones. But if i were a mod i would be contacting rich about issuing a warning about his constant need for money from us lot.

I personally think it should stay as a head-hunted thing. If DBS/TGC feel they need another mod for the forum, I'm sure they'd already have ideas about who they'd want.

Being a moderator has a few more implications than you may think. You will effectively represent DBS/TGC in their online presence. Your decisions could be interpreted as reflecting their policies (which is why you get big disclaimers on corporate emails nowadays).

And it's with that heavy weight on a mod's shoulders, that DBS/TGC must choose wisely...

*remembers that bit from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade where the old dude says 'you chose ... wisely'. errr... sorry - went off track a bit there*

OK, I'm making it sound a little too serious, but you can still see how it's important they don't get some snot-nosed kid.

ohhhh who wants to be a stupid mod anyway? you will hardly ever leave the forum any more. They should make a test ppl have to take and pass to become mod, like...

A newbie has just told you rudly to get lost, do you...

a) Ban him and tell him he can't code his way out of a rat's ass.
b) Yell at him till he leaves the damned place himself.
c) Tell him politly that he is an idiot and he has to repect mods.

something like that. Which do u think it is?

Megaton, none of those should be done. You should
1) If it gets worse delete or lock the topic
2) Politley tell him that rude and innapropriate comments should not be said wthenin these forums, and if it happens again...
3) Then you can ban him after contacing Rich

Haven't u noticed how many?

I doubt that a newbie would do such a thing, because its gonna result in the same thing: its another user on the other hand anyhow. Warnings will be given, if the post contains extreme nonsense + vulgalarity without any direction & simply because of personal feelings / being a jerk, the post might be removed.

If continuos posting of such manner, that leaves the mod no choice but to ban (or temporarily ban) the user, after all, its his/her fault anyway. The mods are just doing their job, serving the community and maintaining the site as it should be respected and utilized by 'matured' and casual users, instead of bombed by spammers, jerks, and psychos.

We are human anyways, so why blame the mods when its the users fault?
