Yep, he's working with Lee on the stock version of FPSC.

No problem. Thanks for the beer

It won't run on a standard Mac because it requires DirectX to run. I'm not to sure if it can be run on bootcamp or one of the other Windows emulators though.

V1.17 doesn't work! When it goes to internalizing player, FPSC encounters an error!

It's not supported yet, you'll have to wait for an official release.

Hey guys. I have something sad to report. It should be fixed in an update or something.
When I finished the level 3_1 of Canalyst and wanted to build it, FPSC crashes always. When I used Thraxas' ragdollmod, which shows the currently used RAM while building, I've realised, that FPSC only can use 1.6GB RAM for building. When it gets over that limit, FPSC-Game.exe crashes. I would like, if someone could look into that and make that limit higher or remove it.

Maybe someone knows some tips to me, how to get under that limit, but without taking something out of the level...

Thanks in advance

Best,
TheK

@ TheK

Lee is aware of this problem and is working on it. The problem is that FPSC freezes at around 1.7GB and does not provide a error message of any sort. So Lee has or was going to put a cap of 1.7GB for it to give an error massage, but I can imagine with this unoffical patch is still WIP we'll have to wait until work is started before we have idea what progress Lee can make on the freezing.

The only way I have been able to work around this is to limit my games to about 6 or 7 levels. Also the best thing that I found that helped also was to disable Imageblock as this tends to use alot of memory.

Hope this helps

@ TerrorNation

I don't main to correct you, but that is not the solution it only disables the cap. You'll still have the same problem. You'll find that this problem is in 1.16 also which is why that cap was added. I had reported this to Lee a couple of weeks ago and he was able to explain the problem.

Kind Regards

Much as I would LOVE to take the credit for creating a ragdoll mod, I just compiled the sourcecode that Lee made for people who were having trouble getting it compiled themselves. I still had to get help from Hockeykid to even do that

Anyway if you go this thread and read the third post I linked to the compiled mod. Make sure you download the extras file (also linked) and put the scripts in your FPSC folder or ragdoll won't work.

Just remember, Thraxas did NOT make ragdoll, so don't credit himfor its creation. He just compiled the code. It's Lee and Hockeykid that made it.

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but I would like to have more control of the title, pause, save and loading screens without the use of a mod.
Simple things like a an option to load an image sequence or a video without having to edit my scripts everytime.
Mouseover animations of the buttons.
Loading screens that can play animations, videos and new load boxes the can go up and down all while loading the next level.
Maybe even add the options ability and a tutorial options to explain the gameplay, before playing the full game.
Now I realize that all of this possible with a little effort, but we keep upgrading everything else but the editor. Is this to much to ask for?

Sorry guys I have quickly scanned through a few pages but I couldn't see a full explanation - what exactly is this migration thing?
Is it sort of like upgrading FPSC to FPSC X10? (As in adding all the new features but keeping compatibility with model packs etc)? If so does this mean FPS Creator X10 will become defunct?

Maybe this information should be added to the first post as the old migration thread's not up anymore?

Also if there some sort of FPS complete deal (inc all model packs at a reduced price, or if not any news on a similar deal) coming soon?

Cheers!

It Updates FPSC with more features. It's not all the same stuff as what FPSC x10 has but it's close and in some aspects better.

The closest thing your getting for all the model packs on a deal is this thing which has 8 or 9 of them and a copy of FPS Creator.

This is the old migration thread, except the name was changed to official (thanks to approval from Lee), and I heavily updated the information on the first page to cater for the new information we received a while back about the migration. Oh, and I updated the graphics.

Thanks for the info!
Will the eventual release include Bloom and Water effects?
I bought X10 when it was released but it hasn't really been updated and none of the model packs are compatible, so I'd be happy to switch to FPSC for the compatibilty and support.

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update on release date. Currently Hockeykid and I are working through some major additions to the internal version of V117, which of course means LOTS of new code. So we don't inflict a lot of bugs on you, we are going to spend a serious amount of time testing what we have added before hurting you with a beta. The plan is to open the V117 beta as a google code beta, which means once we start it you will be able to tap into the google code repository daily to see how things are going with the beta source code. Of course there will still be beta builds so you can just run the update and start using FPS Creator as well. As we have thrown caution to the wind in respect of the number of new features we are adding, patience will be a virtue, but we will keep you updated on what we're doing back here and rest assured we are taking all your wish lists very seriously.

On that subject, I am pleased to announce that I've just put the finishing touches to 'timer based logic' which means FPS Creator now runs at your monitors refresh rate as standard (between 60fps and 100fps) and I can tell you it feels smooth and slick. I think you will approve.

While Hockeykid toils away in the DarkAI engine room,. I am also working on the FPGC variant to bolster the 'easy to use' interface side of things which has some side effect benefits to regular FPSC mode including increased support for both XBOX and DUAL ACTION controllers.

There has also been requests on us to improve the stock media of FPSC as part of the migration. I think once you see the media being rendered with new PS2.0 shaders and under a full screen effect system, you will have a new appreciation for the stock art. Of course we will continue to release new model packs, and increase the quality and functionality bar as FPSC evolves to benefit model packs such as light emitting entities, more shader variable hooks and talking characters.

Any hoo, back to work for me

I drink tea, and in my spare time I write software.

OH

MAH

GOSH

That is some nice update info. Let me get a list here:

Timer based logic
Dark AI
Dualshock controller support (I tried it and it didn't exactly work out )
New PS2.0 Shaders
Fullscreen shaders

Does this mean certain shaders will be included? Motionblur, bloom, etc.?

God, I'm more excited than ever.

If the stock media is getting the PS2.0 shaders like in X10. What about the media for da models packs? like model pack 3 & 5 for example? Will they get the shader effects too?
