Maybe this was already mentioned, but Hockeykid has added scriptable flaks (at least it looks like that), that could mean heatseeking rockets etc

I'd just like to say V118 beta is absolutely fantastic.

I've always enjoyed having FPSC open on my desktop even when I'm not using it. Now I enjoy it even more.

Does this mean the reference to the "override code" in the source is being removed?

Happy Birthday FPSC!

It was 5 years ago that v1 was officially released. (2005/09/22)

There have been so many changes that I can hardly keep up with the features now.

Happy birthday FPSC. Its been a pleasure seeing you reach your potential with V117+. Every aspect of the engine has been improved, made more robust, faster, more powerful, more advanced and we are still in beta.

How flexible will it be? It would be cool to have a particle command to have some cool plasma effects, or no that would have to be a scriptable projectile... Could this also mean that we could have scriptable weapons?

these bullet tracers explode in new versions of FPSC. I'm talking about flak tracers that can be used on all guns, and won't explode.

They won't explode if you lower their force to 0 and remove the explosion decal. That's what I did with my AC130 25mm cannon.

Won't removing the explosion decal affect other things you want to use it like explodable dynamic entities or grenades etc?

We just need a flag in the flak script 'explodable=X' to resolve this properly.

No, it won't affect other flak as you can alter each flak's individual setting in the flakspec folder.

Can the new WEBLINK action be used for some sort of leaderboards in single player? I'm still working on my puzzle game and I don't know if FPSC IP's leaderboards work either with single player or how I need them too, so this might be the beginning of a way to do that in stock FPSC if it will.

The cake is a lie!!!!11!!!1

One thing that is needed and long over due is a way to change graphical settings along with player controls, etc. from the main menu, inside the game.

This new versions should really be integrated to have some features that RPG mod provides.

Some of them includes quests, inventory (the most important),mission briefings, provisions for the user to come back to the previous level anytime he/she wants to,etc.

Features like:
Inbuilt 'change screen resolution' for low-end graphic users,
Provision for creating a 'display map' sort of hud or compass,
a moving vehicle from one place to another(not controlled by the player/user) just for story sake, good frame rate(32-35) without any mod, dodge incoming attack with the press of a key/special attack.(eg. final attack to the brute-chainsaw from bond1's pack),
'credits' screen/option.

should also be highly appreciated!

These would make FPSC a 'Craker' and hence commercial games can be created !

-Thanks...

I'm sure knxrb could work on something like that with Lee's permission.

Possible with 1.18.

Possible bug in 1.18?

I'm having trouble disabling the Blosser shaders.

In setup.ini, I have 'newblossershaders=0' but when testing stock levels (specifically, the WWII level), it reverts back to 'newblossershaders=1'.

Also, cannot disable fog in the build setup (keeps going back to '1') and the blue ambient remains at 255 no matter what value is typed in.

EDIT:

Problem resolved. How, I don't know.

Gremlins?

I will be integrating RPG Mod into v1.18. So I'm not sure Lee will be, at this point, interested in doing that in the official release.

Since RPG Mod has, for the most part, a completely different set of commands and abilities, I personally see no reason, especially anytime soon to have it included in the official release. I had contacted Lee before he even seriously started work on v117 and at first seemed interested in using some of it in an official version. However, I have not heard from him since.

Again, I will be integrating RPG Mod into v118 so there is no real reason for it to be an official release from my perspective.

@ bond1

Wanted to let you know that the problems some of us (with older graphics cards) are having with the shaders in 1.17 & 1.18 are NOT exclusive to the 'newblossershaders' (apologies for the implication) but to stock shaders as well (specifically, both 'bumpbone.fx' shaders on certain character entities).

I've tested this under two different comps (specs for 1st: Intel Core 2 CPU, T7200 @ 2.00GHz, .98 GB of RAM, RADEON X1600, running Windows XP on Mac Bootcamp; second specs listed in signature)

Possibly a bug in 1.17 & 1.18 exclusive to some of us with older graphics cards?

This would be a good idea:

"Integrate v1.18 with RPG mod. and then have hockeykid mod this official release."
This way we can get the best of both mods all-in-one. This would drastically improve fpsc.
Moreover both are excellent mods and will definitely lead to a revolution.
I'm sure some people might agree to this...

Unfortunately, there is more to just having RPG Mod integrated into FPSC source. First off, there is compatibility issue, where you will have to fix the issues and conflicts between RPG and any other mod code in the FPSC source. If that is the case, then who determines what code is kept and what code is dropped (does not require answering). Second, we would loose the ability to see it's true direction and potential, particularly when said integration hacks apart the mod to "make it work". Third, it is just not good business to hand over every mod source over for integration. There are some that have a vested interest in this mod and like the fact it is independent of the rest.

When ready, RPG Mod will get updated for FPSC v1.18. I doubt you will ever see the source code of RPG mod get handed over to go into an official release.

i heard about Project Blue's variable system. now ive come to understand that P.B. is a more advanced version of Ply's Mod and other aspects integrated. however, does this mean well get the same scripting abilities and expanded limits from Ply's Mod as well as dual wielding? I would really like that with the ironsights!

I think he meant it would be cool to have the dual weilding features and the aim down sights feature, not both together

No, as far as I know only the variable commands were added as well as the internal variables such as $PH, but iron sights are already available thanks to AirMod.

In the game killing floor. You can have dual pistols or handcannons and aim down the sights. So im guessing it shouldn't be a problem for FPSC. Maybe, maybe not...

I'd like to see (in the future; doesn't have to be for this next version) a "global replace tool". If you have 25 Barrels (X) and you want them all replaced with Barrel (Y); you can select Barrel X in a menu, and have Barrel Y replace it. It would save huge amounts of time in placement. This could also be applied to segments as well.
