Nice work my friend, your work is actually very inspiring to me. In my own digital paintings as of recently, I've been trying various works in a similar style as yours. You need to create a game all in that style, it would be a hit!

And I've been using GIMP actually, I'm much more acquainted to it than Photoshop (But don't get me wrong, Photoshop is a fantastic piece of art software). For the animation I used Apple Motion. I have experience with Adobe AE as well, which I wish I would've used because of the awesome lighting effects you can create with it.

@ Josh - it's the bog standard size 36 square brush, with opacity set to pen pressure. I've never really got into custom brushes.

Life drawing is something I should do more of, it's such good practice. I've only really started doing pencil sketches in earnest over the last two years or so, and I need to get better at it.

I finished creating and formatting a little super mario comic in pen this past week (I'll probably add chapters to it). Does anybody know what the laws are on selling this type of thing (like creative interpretations, parodies, etc.)? Just curious. Let me know what you guys think!











And Fuzz- First of all I would say split up your layers. Start with a blank transparent layer over a white background and do all of your outlining on that transparent layer. After, you can create another transparent layer underneath of that and do all of your coloring without going over your outline (Because the outline is on top of it). Then, after you get the hang of that, add to it. Make a layer for shadows, highlights, texture, anything!

So, from top to bottom:
-Outline Layer (Transparent)
-Color Layer (Transparent)
-Background Layer(Solid)

Well nobody's posted anything in a little while, so I figured why not. I just finished my girlfriend's tattoo of two dolphins loosely representing the ying yang symbol w/ a depiction of the moon and sun (the water and the beams). Took about 3 hours to make The final dimensions are (estimated) 6" x 7"



Watermarked and reduced to respect my own personal work to her, since she's getting it put on her body.

You know, for all the colors and light "watercolor" feel of your pictures, there is always a sense of melancholia that strikes me. That robot has it aswell. Also solitude.

However, your style would be an interesting texturing style for a next gen videogame, you know?

Very nicely done Josh! Concidering your style, I would suggest you to start a graphic novel or maybe graffity project?? You have these strong outlines and a nice way to work with few colors.

Beware: Censored artworks! I hope this is agreeable.

I had a spot in my hallway where my brother who used to inhabit the third floor before me had a painting of the ocean. It remained blank for a few years until I saw a picture on the interwebs I'd really like to have there. I decided to keep the compilation of it more or less identical and do a similar painting in large style. I'm pretty happy with the colors aswell....they fit in that hallway!

This is also the artwork where I really got deeper in the shading technique I learned in a drawing course. Its done in colored pencils.

If there is a living artist I really admire its alex grey! My parents wanted me to make a large copy of one of his pieces with colored pencils and some pastel. I embraced the opportunity to study the way he constructs and executes a painting. I was especially interested in his three-dimensionality... even though that is the part that does not translate into my work

Its been a while since I showed anything in here, I managed to find a couple more.

Something a little different, this was a backdrop for a theater play, I used to paint these live in nightclubs.


Something even more different, this was a graphic novel (Papercut) created in 3d. He's walking on the ceiling in the first frames.

Oh, lol. It's my own language code I developed when I was kid. I write all my notes like that. It usually reads left to right, top to bottom. But it can read any direction. There's common symbols I use that denote which way to read. Sometimes I'll write in a spiral for kicks. It also looks cool. I'm weird, I know.

Yeah, especially that last image, the beam of sunlight hitting the patch of grass, just works perfectly I think.

Also some nice work there Rolfy, I especially like the pastel redhead - I always avoided using pastels for some reason - I guess they make me nervous - like the actual image is quite fragile when done in pastel, I'd always be afraid that I'll lean on it and smudge it. Kinda need to have a bit of confidence with pastels as well I think, I always felt safer with watercolours or pencils myself. Even charcoal is a bit risky for me - but at least you can protect that somewhat, with that hairspray stuff.

I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more memes.

This might of course just be my opinion.

I hear you but there is a spray fixative for pastel too. still they are kinda fragile all the same (worst case was when a big dirty Newfoundland licked one, was irreparable as this too fixes the pastel but, in a different way)

I was working to storyboards so had no say in it

This is one of my favourite threads with all this lovely artwork and so many different styles.

It's been ages since I've trawled here or done a painting! I finally forced myself to do one today, and it turned out alright. I want to do a series of portraits of book characters that I have really connected with. Today I did one of the main character from The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. It's such a good book. Also got to try out some new brushes, which was a lot of fun. Different process, and lots of learning.

Greenlig, is Jumper an actual game yet or does it just exist in your head?

We don't know each other, but I love your art style and have been contemplating creating a platform jumping game for some time. 2D games are my specialty (I've made lots! RTS's, RPG's, shooters) but I haven't done a jumper before.

Been up all night..got bored, so I learned how to write in Gallifrayan lol!



Any requests for their name? This is actually quite fun, and building the designs is an art-form in itself. By the way, I don't use a translator, I do it by hand. I read an article on how to write in Gallifray and downloaded the alphabet. I tried a translator and they look horrible, especially if you get too complicated. Ones done by hand look way better.
