Exactly. I had an issue today where my packed game was suppose to go in a WW2_BF folder but ended up in a folder called Game. Forgot to delete the old WW2_BF folder and it was driving me nuts. One of those moments- I like to call it "Sergeant's perogitive" since i have worked hard for my chevrons.

Well, I'm still not going to tell what I did, but here's a tip for s4. You shouldn't be able to pick a folder that doesn't contain a game.

Heh Heh no wonder it was running like the energizer bunny.

I may be wrong, but I'd guess the reason he has that option is because you can specify the folder in FPSC when doing a build (Build Settings Tab). If FPSC kept it to a specific location only (example: FPS Creator\MyGames\), then I could see where Vishnu could only point to that folder only.

The downside is that not all of us use the default install directory, or maybe some build on a different drive all together. That may mean Vishnu would have to know what folder to locate only (using the MyGames folder example above). May be a headache to do that for s4.

Besides, I'd hate to give the lad grey hair at his young age to do something like that.

I look into having it check to make sure your packing a game and not fpsc itself or any other folder.

Hmm, not sure about the new look, it makes it look like one of these cheesy small apps made by nobodies that'll never get used. I suggest making it look like a proper pc application.

Thanks for the comments knxrb but I like how the app looks at the moment, you seem to be missing the point the idea is to get away from the same old same old app's look.

@I am TheFirst Person : This is the wrong thread to ask this but to answer No you can't use obj files in fpsc.

Update :

Vishnu Fpsc Packer version 4 is released today.

This use's less cpu power than the other release plus you can only pick fpsc game folder's so you dont end up trying to pack your fpscreator folder by mistake or any folder thats not a game(lol xplosys knows this old issue.)

Some small bug fixes as well.

Update :

Working on vishnu v5 that fixes bugs that stop you packing x10 games plus adding a min hard drive space check so a machine with little space can't run a vishnu packed game, this will stop the app from crashing when someone trying to run the game when they have like less than 4gb of space left on there machine.

A nice little app here. (Inside joke)

OK. Down to business. First, I've downloaded it. As ND said works with W7. Packed one of my Grandson's games.

So, now, where the rubber meets the road. . .

There is only one thing that the player or a small app of my own (game_starter) needs access to the setup.ini file. And that is when one is using or not using an xbox controller. No big deal for most developers that won't be distributing to a ton of users.

You cannot simply place xbox=1 into the setup file as then a person who only uses a mouse will not be able to play the game unless they can keep up with going around in circles. Mouse users will need either no xbox flag or it will need to be xbox=0.

I'm not sure if anything can be done about this other than have two packed games. One of mouse use and one for xbox controller use. And then there's the situation with what if the controller user wants to actually look down when the stick is pushed up. Xbox=2 is the command parameter for that.

This is absolutely a great tool though.

I'm certain s4 could add that to his application, yes? Since we can already specify a loading page and background music, could you not add a feature to check for XBox controller? If they check it before clicking launch, then it would add the xbox=1 in the setup.ini for the player. He had a version that allowed for remapping of keys IIRC.

Update : Version 5 released.

I was going to call this release version 4.1 but I changed a few things so it ended up version 5.

Whats new :-

Faster unpacking of game.
Use's less Hard drive space.
Bug fix so you can now pack x10 games again.

@Gijs :- It has never been tested with FPSC IP and prob will not pack it due to vishnu checks that its a fpsc packed game.

If you like to upload a game made with FPSC IP so we can test it and make it so vishnu would pack it that would be great.

Update :

Vishnu version 6 is in the works with a new re-write yet again.

Whats being added :

1. You can now pack fpsc games and none fpsc games so if you using a launcher or fpsc ip these can now be packed with vishnu.

2. New end user screen thanks to errant.

3. New protection methods.

Version 6 will be going into beta testing very soon so keep an eye out for the new release coming soon.
