Quote: "What is the difference in speed compared with Newton physics, Dark physic and havoc physics?"

I've tested it, this works so much better than dark physics, and it is a ton easier to set up then newton.

Quote: "but so far the best is sparkys collition system for physics, if you know how to set up physics that is."
this blows sparkys out of the water, the bugs are almost all crash bugs, the actual physics are perfect.

If you've played Half-Life 2 (which 99% of the gamers did), then you can see the power of Havok. The Character Controller is of extreme high quality, you can stand on a box on a moving platform, no problems. You can push boxes away, no problems. Boxes can push YOU away, no problems

and not to mention that xarshi is making a wrapper, so all the actual physics are already done, he's transferring it to work with dbpro. so we get the exact same bug-free physics system as half life, halo, and unreal...

@Xarshi: If not saying your giving up but if you do, just pass the project on to someone who can continue. Just don't let it die.

Hey, Xarshi. Haven't made a post in here yet, but have been popping in every now and again to see how things are going.

The plugin is sounding very promising from what I've seen and read. I would definitely love to have a play around with it! I don't find much time to enjoy programming these days but I can probably make an exception for something like this.

Perhaps the next time you're online and see this, we can indulge on a quick compile of what is already complete. I can understand your desire to have a proper release, bug free and all. However, if you're finding yourself strained for time, it couldn't hurt to let people enjoy what you've created thus far. You can always come back to update when time is more forgiving. Don't worry so much about the minor issues, or even some of the bigger issues. This is a TGC board, after all, we're used to it by now and we understand that things will come together when the developer finds the time to do so.

Take care and good luck in your endeavors!

From what iv read on the havok pages this plug-in may be stepping on one or two legal toes. No doubt Xarshi will have to submit what ever he wants to release to them first, not even god would know how long that would take or even if it would get an ok.
I for one hope it all goes well because it sound amazing.

I thought they mentioned earlier in this thread that Intel had come in to allow indie developers a free license that allowed you to use the engine for non-commercial use or for selling apps up to $10.. above that you had to ask the havok guys themselves for another "free" license. Either way, I don't think it will end up in a legal issue.

So Xarshi can still do what he's doing, but we can't use it in a commercial release.

Still, it'll be fun to play with.

You can sell it for $10 or less, but if you complete this form:
http://www.havok.com/index.php?page=pc-game-distribution-license-request
you can sell it for more than $10.

The Pokemon Engine is still alive.

I find that form to be a bit unfair/weird.

What if we aren't making one of the genres listed or using one of the engines listed? Or what if we're using Blender for a modeling tool?

Perhaps they need to add an "Other" to those sections?

Back on topic, I would love to have a play with vehicles with this plugin! I've been hoping for a great, easy to use, physics plugin that allowed for vehicles. The vehicles in DarkPhysics was so... hard to get working, unless you used the vehicle that was provided with the demo.

[I removed this- changed my mind about the content of the Havok license - will see how this plays out re the license - will be interested to hear from Xarshi on this thread]

Alright, I'm kinda back. I feel bad that I've been gone so long guys.

Anyways, I know I've probably said this before, but I am going to try to get a release out today.

I'm really sorry about the delays guys, and it is just my fault in losing interest for another project (well, not a project, just messing with Direct3D 10 really). But as a plus, I could probably make a Direct3D 10 plugin beyond easily now. So I might do that.

Other than that, the release I will have to take motorcycles out of (or at least, support for them turning and keeping them upright). This won't be a problem when I get constraints in as you all could do that yourself.

Again, I'm sorry guys. I'm back for now, but I DO leave for a trip to new york on wednesday. But I seriously have nothing to do today, and took the problematic code out of the plugin for now. So if I can create a small demo for vehicles, characters, and rigid bodies we'll be set.

I've also updated the plugin to 7.1 as opposed to 6.5. Not many notable features, but they include bug fixes at least.

Also, you all are quite lucky I have two hard drives. One was lost when I had to reformat due to a couple of issues. I don't generally keep programming projects on my 1tb hdd either. Luckily I foresaw something like this happening and backed everything up. But now I do have to download the free DarkBasic Professional on my sluggish internet connection, so it will take like three hours. It gives me time to get everything working.

Edit

I would also like to formally request content for any demos. I am not an artist, and I would like to have visually appealing objects as opposed to boxes. If there are any takers, here is what I would need:
Vehicle with wheels NOT attached, but in a separate file.
Small level mesh
Random clutter like crates and all that.

Generic, but that's the kind of stuff I need at the moment.

Xarshi, good to have you back man!
No problem with the motorcycles, we can eventually do it ourselves.
I'll see if I can model something for you to use

Yay! Soon we'll be able to play around with the newest version!

Uhmm... not to sound pushy or anything, but how is that coming along, btw? Are you waiting to get a demo up first?

I haven't had much time since I last posted as I am, as of right now, three hours for leaving on a field trip from my school to new york for five days. When I get back, on Monday, I'll have time to upload the thing. I have all the code done for the first release (this makes me nervous to say...), so I can release it when, you know, I actually get the time. I just felt you all deserved to know there would be a delay. If you want I'll upload a demo, or I can upload demos after I upload the plugin. There will NOT be keywords for this as I am far too lazy. Anyone wanna do that for me?

Well here are two VERY simplistic models, a barrel and a crate (I'm working on some more):

Like I said, working on some more.
The barrel is a bit blurry on the screenshot, should be OK in-game.
