I love it.

I want to shoot this thing off. Do you plan to use it in anything?

I like everything but the handle looks a little bit too much like marshmellow

Thanks for the comments, i am back from a short holiday, which was great apart from a have managed to rip a muscle or tendon in my calf, which means i can barely walk.

As for the softness Camo, its soft so that i can make the normals bake come out nice, the final product will be a lot more defined.

No problem, its just that a few people here have the idea that High poly=bad. Didn't mean to offend.

More updates, sort of leaving the scope until tomorrow as it will be a very tricky piece to make, judging from the reference pic.

Sorry for the double post, would anyone benefit from a walkthrough video of how i do some of my gun? A few people have requested one, so i thought that i would ask.

More updates, feel free to crit away. Biggest issue i have now is with the smoothing on that foregrip. Working on it now.

No doubt one of the best models I've seen in a while, are you planning on texturing this?

I'd also like to see how you do this via a video tutorial

Thanks, yeah i will be texturing this, may be a while yet though, as i still have to make the low poly, uv map it, and bake the nrmals and AO.

Looks nice. My only crit is the gun grip looks too wide and uncomfortable. Also seems like the type of heavy weapon that requires a small tri-pod stand to help you stabilize it.

Thanks for the crit, the angle is probably a bit off, but the gun is not as big as it seems, if you look at the handle. The grip is a funny one, im actually sort of making a thinner section underneath for holding, and using the chunks piece to act as sort of a guard from someone slipping their fingers into hot places. I am planning to add in a bi-pod stand soon also, so that should even the weight out, busy making a more side-angle render.

Very cool. For some reason I see that large cylinder part spinning when you fire...though if your shirt got caught in it you'd be in a whole heap of trouble.

I just intended it to be a cylindrical mag, but an incredibly dangerous spinning firing mechanism dangerously close to the body sounds just as good.

That Sci-Fi rifle kicks cheese.

Which is my weird way of saying that it's awesome. I could see [insert game character here] kicking some zombie/alien/zombie-alien posterior with that.

More updates, almost done with the high res mesh(1.03million polygons is sorta killing my pc)

Drafted out some colours, next step, low poly.

Thanks, the low poly started at 150,000 polygons, managed to get it down to 50,000. Looks like its going to be tough to get it low poly.

Really looking forward to see the low poly one, and a wireframe of both, becouse taking a weapon from soo much polys to 8000 is not an easy thing
Looking great asteric

Sure thing, the low poly is a pain, manually getting rid of 142,000 polygons is rather tedious, managed to get them down to 28,000 now, still a fair bit to go.

Managed to get 150,000 polygons down to 4,600, which i have to admit was not much fun. I still have a few places i want to optimise first before moving on to the uv map.

looks good, a few areas that i think could be further reduced but they're few and far between, and from 150,000 to 4,600 is impresive, now the only thing left to do is have one of these , good job

Thanks Josh, just to clear up, any tri's were originally quads, but i have collapsed them to save polygons, in some areas they blend from tri's into quads, this is because i could not removes some edges due to the shape of the mesh being deformed.

I am almost ready to upload a 25 minute video which is basically me just making the mono-pod area.
