Thanks, bad news, for some reason vegas is taking over an hour per ten minutes of video to render, so, slight delays im afraid.

I think that the two cylinder objects can just have flat tops, or just less inset extrusions. It would save some polies and all of those inset details can be added to the low poly via normal map and the high poly AO map I might be wrong but I'm trying to give more crits to people lol

Yeah, i have reduced some of the extrusions, but if i got rid of them, it will most likely look cheap if you know what i mean. If you notice most of the higher detail objects are in the rear to mid section of the gun, which is most obvious to the player. Thanks for the crit.

Do you manually reduce the polys by hand? I can't imagine having to reduce the polies of such a high poly model like that by hand, I'd completely give up

Ok, so here is part 1, sort of embarrassed putting it up, because i think i explain things badly, but i figured the worst that can happen is that people find it crap, so here it is.

SJ- Yeah its all done by hand, its tedious but worth it.

Yeah, i need to work out a better way to record and upload stuff. The underwash was from the noise removal filter, so i need a new mic too.

I haven't looked that far ahead if im honest, i think a full auto would be best fitting. While im at this stage does anybody have any requests on video tutorials/walkthroughs? Maybe a uv-mapping one or something? Just let me know and ill do my best to make one. I think i may just record the uv process on this weapon anyway, and give it out if there is any interest in it.

Good to hear Toasty, when i started doing the video, i just found out a very useful way of mirroring a uv map for certain pieces, which you will see in the first uv mapping section.

A quick tutorial explaining what control edges do.

Figure 1
A base mesh with no sub-d or control edges.

Figure 2
The base mesh with a turbosmooth, no control edges. We can see that all of the edges are smoothing together.

Figure 3
The base mesh with control edges added near the areas that we want to keep hard.

Figure 4
Turbosmoothed mesh with control edges, as we can see the areas without control edges are smoothed, whilst the areas with control edges are left harder.

The top tube needs to be consistent. It seems to funnel.

But so far it looks good. Good job.

Nice cannon!
make a hole or like some sort of scope above the cannon so the spotters can actually spot with it

Cool cannon. Might want to warp the wood a bit, but other than that, good job.

And for my suggestion, I would like to suggest a silencer. The only ones I can find are a cylinder with a slightly smaller cylinder next to it. And %50 of them have that lame photoshop clouds texture.

So could you do a good silencer? With like, the small holes in it and everything? Because a normal silencer has small indentations in it, and that is not usually represented.

The wood is slightly warped right now, but im going to give it a zbrush pass and detail the wood, an keep this is a good base.

For the silencer, sure, i can probably whip something up for you, what kind did you have in mind exactly?
