Keep it going, I'm going to need lots of characters soon, and it would be fantastic to have them all coming from this app.

Sorry guys. I haven't been around much lately. I haven't had much time for 3DCM either. I'm still working on it. It is just moving very, very slowly. I've had an offer to help from Scraggle, which is great. Things have been busy for him too. So, the project continues, but at a snails pace for now.

I'm so getting this, the interface looks very easy to learn and use (I don't yet know how to model, I want to learn) are these exportable and combatable with FPSC

good frame rates matter...

Things are starting to get back on track. I spent some time last week working on textures. I fixed a few UV problems that were on the base model, which will now make texture creation a bit simpler. The thing that I'm struggling with is making the body skin textures. It takes forever to get them done which makes it easy to set aside and get busy with something else.

Yes. You can export the models and use them directly in FPSC.

Hi Ron,

Just an email to ask how it's going with 3DCM, whether you have any screenies or vids of it in action yet?

This would be really cool if you could find time to finish it. Maybe dedicate one day to getting a lot done on this, then give us some screenies or vids (vids would be better)?

this looks excellent, but it definitely would dramatically affect the purchasing of other characters due to the customisation featured in this great piece of work.

I think that I've come to the conclusion that this won't get done unless I enlist some help. Honestly, I am a bit burned out on the project and it is hard for me to work on at the moment. I don't like saying that because I like to FINISH things, but its the truth. I was trying to go the route of not working on anything UNLESS I'm working on this, but that has just led me to not working on anthing! This has also led me into avoiding the forums. I figured I'd miss you all enough to help me be inspired to get my butt moving again, but that hasn't really worked either. So, I think I am going to try another course of action. I think I am going to start being active on the forums again and start working on a game idea that I have. It has been YEARS since I've worked on a game. I've been too busy working on tools! In the mean time I am going to keep my eyes and ears open for the right fit to get some serious artwork help for 3DCM. Hopefuly the motivation on this project returns soon! I want to finish it and release it much more than anyone elso wants to buy it!

@ Ron,

Good to hear from you. Can understand the project getting you down. A long haul. From my perspective, simply something allowing you to export a male, jointed, rigged with anim character without any of the textures would be outstandingly helpful - something I would pay for... Maybe consider a couple of tiers of release?

How I wish I was anything more than rubbish at art.... sure someone here will get on board - the finished product would be so very much worth it...

@Ron

This is truly an amazing piece of software, and one that I have hoped for for a long time. I can do static models all day long, but animated/organic models..... well thank god for generators, and model packs.

FPSC is one of a few engines that I use, all but one are 3D engines. This will be an amazing asset to those who fall into my genre of game creator "storyteller with limited technical skills". When you finish this software, you will make a great deal of money from this community. Also, on a personal note, (and I mention this, only because TGC provides a number of links to this engine) the realmcrafter community would eat up a piece of software like this. Might be worth looking into.

Best of luck in completing this project!

Only in the imagination, can the truth be found...

@ Ron,

Hope all going well and you've found some time to move this fantastic project forwards.

To be honest, as long as it more or less worked as RC and exported, I'd pay for the RC -

Things have really been moving over the last week. I've been working on some clothing options. I reworked my texturing routines and things look so much better now. It is a lot of work creating new media, but the more I make, the faster I am getting at it. It's actually been a lot of fun!
I need to add a pair of pants for the poor guy. That is next. After I do that, I'll post a new video showing it all off.

I finaly got some help to do with the cloth example ..
well what I thought was such

it turns out that it was a window blind that fell to the ground
but was linked with 6 peaces

it basically fell to the floor and moved when the mouse was clicked

I tried for a bit to build in a reset and a set hight
but had no luck

it dose lead me to the idea of building a program
ware peaces are linked together to give the appearance
of moving cloth

Really hoping Ron is still running with this (at whatever pace) because it would be one of the most useful utlities ever for DBPro and hobbyists who cant 3d model for toffee... fingers crossed.

I am still in the erily stages of 3d building

I use Milkshape 3d

It's take me some time to understand how to build 3d
and people are the hardest to build

objects are not so bad

I found a couple of add on's for it that give close to the
$3,000 usd for 3d studio max and the owner is working on updating
Milkshape 3d of which has been over 2 years since the last one

from what I understand 3d is like lego and plado
the only bummer is you can't put your hands on such
so it takes longer to get to ware you want things to be

texture mapping and building in moment are the other peace
I am finally understanding how it works

I have yet to do those parts ...

all I can say like programing keep plugging away at it

Nice to see you kept at this and are still making progress!

I think given the time you have put in that a female model would be worth adding and make it appeal to even more people... Any thoughts on .fbx export?

So is this still actually happening??

Really, Ron, if life's so busy that you can't even reply for 4 months in a row, you should donate the source code so people can get some benefit from your work. At the very least, you should email some trusted people (such as me ) with the source so they can continue working for you.

P.S. I'm serious about you sending me the code. I love helping people out at the expense of my own time. Really.

Hmm...doesn't seem to be alive anymore. So sad

Maybe he died. Who knows. Actually, no one, as he hasn't said A SINGLE THING since April '11.

We will keep this thread alive in case he comes back, but it doesn't look likely.

If he takes too long it will probably be locked by a mod.

Oh well.

I will simply have to tear down the test chambers and go to sleep for [insert large number here] years and maybe in [insert large number here] years you will be dead.

Oh dear. I seem to have become a murderous computer
