I'm getting the following error when I try to run FPSCapture:

I click continue and it seems to run, although I can't seem to change the output folder, it's just stuck at 'My pictures'.

Windows 7, GeForce 8800 GT, 4gb ram.

Hi Nickydude, have you installed the Microsoft Expression Encoder?

This should fix your problem:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=75402be0-c603-4998-a79c-becdd197aa79&displaylang=en

Version 1 had the pictures in the 'My Pictures' folder only but Version 2 will allow for anywhere.

I've installed the encoder (and Net Framework 4) AND reset the machine but still the same error.

Does FPSCapture have to be in a specific folder?

Hmm, it should be working after installing the encoder.
I'll check the source and get back to you on the problem.

It doesn't need to be in a specific folder.

this program is awesome, but I am finding that I can't upload the video I make to you tube. I don't get it they support .wmv. The program makes a .wmv. Any ideas??? The you tube error says "unable to convert"

actually, I can't share any of the videos I make. Something about a missing codec.

Try to convert it using different codec (into .avi or .wmv). Youtube is picky about codecs used.

I have tried it in about 5 different formats. Basically the same result, Youtube can't process, and if I send the file to someone they can't open it. I love this program, but I would love it more if I could share my work.

You've now just experienced the problems with using Microsoft codecs to encode videos. Not a wise choice.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

I just recently installed the free version of Microsoft Expression Encoder, who's dll your program uses as I understand it. It allows up to 10 minutes of video capture without paid registration. Testing both your capture program and the capture program built into Expression, I find that Expression has noticeably less lag than your program. They have extra steps to actually encode the video afterwards, but they offer other features such as size and quality too. Both programs have their benefits, but if I have the time, and since I need the expression encoder anyway, I'll probably just use Expression. Of course if you somehow manage to improve the frame rate and add some options....

Brian.

@Johnski
I haven't been using it too long but I love it. I had to download the Expression though since I didn't have the dll and I think both are good, but in your v.2 it should definitely have more options. I'd like to see this and a search thing for entities and segment(like the one on xplosys's website) integrated into FPSC.

What editing/viewing player did you use for that video you put on youtube? For me it says that I need a MTS2 codec and my Media Player doesn't have it... Any help?

I use Wondershare Video Convertor and select the "Youtube HD" option to export for Youtube.

I can't get it to play... I press the play button and nothing. I press the start button and it brings up this thing that says evaluate(a click-able button). How do you do it?

@Johnski
I just want to give a word of advice for version 2.0
Change the codec that FPSCapture uses to record! The codec that it uses to record is one of the worst to use. I suggest using a codec that is Youtube ready, which will not only help with easiness of uploads but will be available for about everything.
Here is a link to a list of Youtube ready codec:

Thanks for listening!

Cheers.
