Thank you! I have no idea how I actually learned this.

Yes! I wonder how anyone could NOT know Led Zeppelin
Speaking of 'em, THIS is an amazin cover of their song "no quarter"

Call me a geek, but the first thing I did this morning right after a hot steaming mug of coffee was this:

My 4th Model and I think I'm getting close to rigg-able quality
I should have some time to texture it this evening.

Looks amazing for a 4th model, but there seems to be some polygns that don't need to be there, for example the cylinder on top of the gun, and maybe the sights

wow, wolf you are a badass modeller

although, i have spotted a couple of problems with your FAL. nothing too bad just many uneeded polys. It seems that when you are using the cylinder tool you use too many stacks, really for the areas highlighted you just need a one stack cylinder which reduces like 6 times the amount of polys in these areas.

im no modeller so i cant really comment, just something i noticed when looking

Aw man.... I get 80% finished texturing, after I UV mapped it, then I realize the cabins are backwards to the balloon. Looks like I'm back to square one.

That's going to put you to square one?... Improvise.Flip the cabin window on the other side.

Send the thing to me if you don't want to fix it yourself.

P.S - CP,I'll be sending you an e-mail shortly with some media.

Yes! I found out that I could adjust the amoount of stacks for the cylinder towards the end when I made the shoulderpiece (out of a cylinder)...but then it was already too late. My next model will be a lot cleaner and low poly'er with this knowledge! Thanks for the input

@nomis: Nice to see you and your models around here

So ... I textured the FAL... and it didn't turn out as well as I hoped it would. However, I'm still learning

I guess this is an Okay Polycount for a HUD Weapon?

I made 2 terrain pieces. I can't get them FPSC ready at the moment, so i've included the 3DS and .OBJ files in the zip.

Textured.

I might make another one with a smaller explosive, as by the looks of it that one would blow the side off the building, never mind the door.

Special Thanks to Ben for the FAL Rig... but it will be "classified" until I produced a better texture

@TGPEG: Oh! its fine...one can never use enough brute force (and children, this philosophy applies only to videogames and B-Movies)

@Nomis and Design Runner: Thanks fellas!

My Modeling skills have magically increased over night and the new gun has only 840 triangles

If there is any trick or useful tool to UV Map available, I would certainly like to know about it. Call me a smug, but I believe that the attached model will be AWESOME if I can texture it decent

The Jeep that I am working on for this has under went a major face lift. I had completely redone the tire and gas can to minimize Polies. The Jeep Body had a few renovations done to lower the poly count. If I got time, I will included with this a shovel and axe.

Wolf: I'm glad that you are enjoying, and have found this an enlightenig experience. As with any journey, it's always the first step, which is the hardest to take. I'm looking forward to adding your new models to the pack.

And now you don't have any excuse for not joining in on my next community pack either. (There's only 2 left before I'm done with them. Fantasy, and Horror)

A screen to go with the projector.

The Union Jack flags are there just to entice you. You can't have them as I got those models off Turbosquid. I might try and model something similar but it's a bit beyond my current skills.

Well,I've done Sci-fi, Urban (Dark city), and now Modern warfare. The 2 left will cover, Fantasy, and Horror themes.

But who knows, if I, or sombody else, come up with other themes beyond these, then of coarse I'll do those as well.

Arctic Station? =D

I'm kidding. What comes to my mind is:

"Dino Park"

"1920 - 40" (these times where somehow incredibly stylish

"Ancient Cultures"

"Wild West"

I had the bright idea of actually playing MW2 today to get some inspiration for things to make, the first of which was this quite basic ammo crate:

@yohan12: I get the feeling this was inspired by Area 51 warning signs?

@TGPEG: Looks great! A specular shader would make it look excellent

*****************

Bootlicker kindly rigged my flawed FAL Model
I gave its texture another go and it looks...slightly...better.

However! If I manage to give the AK and the UMP a somewhat cool texture, they should make a nice addition to the pack.

Even though its flawed...it is my first weaponmodel ever rigged in FPSC and that only after 3 days =D

It's already got one - just not really visible in that shot. Here's some low-poly barricades I did as well. If you play "S.S.D.D." on Modern Warfare 2, I just walked around that with a pad and pen and made a list of things to model (minus the basketball net).

Oh and the FA(i?)L is not bad. Not bad at all.

@Cosmic: Do you have any ideas how to reduce texture sizes? I usually convert mine into FPSC-friendly in GIMP but all the compression methods I've tried end up producing strange artifacts and gltiching on the spec+normal maps.

As you can see, the 17 items I've made so far add up to 213mb - which is going to slow people's machines down considerably. Is there some way of reducing the texture sizes without sacrificing the quality? The spec+normal ones are a lot larger due to them having alpha channels and masks and things like that.

Then send it to me and I'll take care of that for you. I have Photoshop, and I can batch process the whole folder.

I might do that in the future.

I made a gate which is static at the moment, although I don't see any reason why it couldn't be animated.
