Ok. I downloaded 1.2a and generated a launcher version of my FPCS demo. Most of it works. Then i packed it with vishnu packer v9.0. This works too, but inside the packed folder there are two .exe files. One is the game plus there is "Vishnu-Free.exe". When starting the game, there is a blank window (launcher) with that bloody buttons again and it does nothing when clicked on it.

...hum...

I'm trying to figure out what you have a issue with does vishnu launcher work or is it vishnu packer you having issue with.

Could you email me a step by step what you doing and I will personal help you out with all your issues.

If you naming the game exact the same as before and do not del the folder in the packed games folder or launcher folder sometimes this can cause a conflict.

Make sure to del all your old game folders before packing again.

sorry for your issues and I will do my best to make sure to fix them for you.

Oh, sorry. I deleted the old folders and tried again. I now get no "vishnu-free" anymore, but after unpacking there is this (see attachment).

Yes. When i pack my game with vishnu packer only it works all fine. When i pack my game with launcher only it works fine too. When i pack the vishnu launcher output with vishnu packer, i get the result shown in the screenshot above.

There are still ishues. The state of the options on the right side are not stored. When changing to "menu preview" and coming back to "options preview" they are reset. When i try to store the theme from options preview i get the error shown in the attachment.

I'm going threw the whole code at the moment and making a lot of changes to how its been working before.

Vishnu launcher v1.2c will be uploaded later on today after more bug fixes and testing.

I can't believe the program had this many bugs and nobody picked them up before.

Yes, but you can go back to the "Menu Preview" and save the theme. We tested it and can save the theme only from the "Menu Preview" section, not the "Options Preview" section. The error does come up for us as well if in the "Options Preview".

That issue is fixed as is many others the re-write is due to the changes I made in the code, and its now a one.exe that writes the folders as it goes along.

There where an issue with the load themes that seem to mess up the option bar but that seems to be fixed now by restarting the application after the theme is loaded.

Just a few more fixes and should be done for testing

Update :-

A new update will be up later tonight just one more bug fix to do , while I'm re doing Vishnu launcher would you like to see some sort of protection for your game files.

This would be basic protection as vishnu packer is for this but I like to hear your feedback on this.

Nice. But... Why isnt it possible anymore to change the text color on the options screen? And why there is nomore text "Resolution"? See attachment. Btw i didnt try packing a launcher package with vishnu packer yet.

@Snake675 :- I'm not getting that issue at all.

As you can see from the attached image.

You made sure that the exe is in the folder and you have not taken it out of the folder.

In fact it does not matter if its in a folder or not as it make the folders it needs, Are you using an old theme as this may not be compatable with the newest version.

I don't know if Blackfox mentioned people like me who have made several games but have not required them to be packed and launched.

However, I hope to be alive yet when I finish the game I'm working on now that I might want to use a product like this.

BTW, s4real, you basically own this thread so no need to apologize for double posting.

THEORY - you know everything but nothing works. PRACTICE - when everything works but don't know why. For me, theory and practice are combined: nothing works and I don't know why.

We don't use it because it does not make our coffee. I believe that was a request made back in the early development stages.

Seriously, you know how we structure our launcher for our FPSC developments and why we use it as it fits the developments we do. I do have non-FPSC games that we would use Vishnu Launcher with if it could support non-FPSC games like Packer does.

So true. But its a pitty, i have problems again. Packing the game with vishnu launcher works - as mentioned. When i pack it with vishnu packer (v9.0) then i get that white background with the bloody buttons (see attachment). I am sorry to be that persistent, but i like those tools and would be so glad they work together (as promised). I got the same result repeatedly. So its no strange behavior of my computer, i think...

There will be a new update soon and sorry that you still having issue with packing the game in vishnu packer.

Update :-

Vishnu Game launcher v1.3

Well I'm working on Vishnu Game launcher v1.3 and looking into a new more advanced method of protection better than vishnu packer due to the product being a paid option.

Also looking at it bypassing fpsc menu so when you press play on the launcher it loads the game.

Hi when I bought launcher it was v1.2 I wonder if you have got 1.3 ready yet. I see you have been working in fpsc 120 so you dont have a lot of time Im thinking. I did drop a note to Blackfox where I bought it but have not heard as of yet. I think I bought it on the 28th of Jan. No hurry just wondering.

I sent it to you in your Web site. I think the problem might be that when I made the purchase I used the wife’s email in PayPal so look for it under Carol. I should have made note of that in the email.

I was not looking for any one thing just like to keep up to date. As far as the Video capture I thought you would be the one to put one together. You know the inn’s and out’s of FPSC. So I thought if you made it so it could be in FPSC editor in a dropdown menu along with launcher. Then also if you could set up a dropdown menu in help to handle all the manuals that are for FPSC and even manuals on model packs. I think it would be a lot easier to have them at your figure tips. Just something to think about. I know that I would pay 25 to 30 dollars for that.

just maybe a stupid question...:
I think a big problem to deliver FPSC games is install Directx9c drives.With Vishnu can I put the files ( directx9c drives and game.exe) and the user will can instal all?
If not , can you show me a way to do this?

@0Alemar0 :- At the moment there isn't a way to have vishnu install Direct x9 the only thing is to add the install into the built install folder and have a readme.

For version 1.3 I will do a check and have the option for the launcher to install the latest version or directx that you pick.

I do hope you can add something so you can bypass the FPS Start screen (*Prays*)

Anyway i'm just asking but hows Version 1.3 looking?

I saw that Game Launcher is compatible with other Vishnu Products. I was using Vishnu Packer and wondered how to use them together. When I use Launcher I have no problem it works fine but does not pack the media file. When I use Packer I like the way it packs all the media , but don’t know how to get them to work together. Can you please advise.

Some people have issues with vishnu launcher and vishnu packer due to they pack there game first then use the launcher second.

1:- Use vishnu launcher first to build your game with a launcher.

2:- Then use vishnu packer to pack the launcher folder.

This seems to work ok for me but some people have had problems with both products not working together for some odd reason but if the game is packed in a machine that packs the games ok it runs ok on other machines.

I'm adding vishnu packer protection to vishnu launcher for v1.3 so that this problem is not needed anymore.
