Well, last night I had some "thinking" time while I was cutting the grass. I came up with some new ideas for approaches to the Body Size.
I think I am going to do it like this:
There will be a range that you can choose from and the character will morph between-
AVERAGE -> THIN
AVERAGE -> MUSCULAR
AVERAGE -> HEAVY

So, basicly, your character starts out with an average build. You then select another Build to work with. You adjust a slider to go between AVERAGE and the other selected build.
This will be able to work with the entire character OR individual body parts.
This should offer a almost unlimited range of builds for your characters, instead of the 5 that I mentioned before.
Hopefully, it will all work as planned

Also, last night, I was able to finish the THIN build and get a good start on the HEAVY build (which is looking pretty cool).

Progress continues.....

@WOLF:

Let me know if you need any help. I have a few ideas. I used to use a program similar to this called Creature Creator, but it didn't have the skinning part and therefore I had to paint the model myself.

I also built something close to what you have for Manga characters (quiet or people will ask me to dig it up). I will see if I can send you some samples of what I did.

I posted earier that I may be looking for help sometime in the future. If so, help would definately be paid on a royalty basis. I think that I am going to try to complete the main app myself. After that, I have too many ideas for addon packs to possibly complete them all myself. If you are interested, send me an e-mail with some sample work and we will talk more.

Of coarse, if you do have any ideas that you are willing to share with me, I would love to hear them. That is one of the main reasons that I started this WIP thread.

Thanks!

The latest progress was posted about 2 or 3 hours ago. Not a lot has happened since then (I'm at work).

I don't have a list of the animations yet. None have been done so far. I have a lot to do before I get to that point.

I am still a few months away from release. Just taking a guess, hopefully I'll be close toward the end of summer. Then again, it could be Christmas.

No, I'm a programmer, I know how this works...

Example: I came to Honduras for a "2 week project". On May 26th I would have been here 1 year.

I have so much going on right now that it isn't funny. I know what you mean. Things are progressing a lot faster than I thought they would though.

I'll definately be looking for a tester or 2 in the near future. I'll keep you in mind.
By the way, I don't plan on charging "mucho $$" for this. You could always send me EXTRA though

Keep in mind, that is really just the vertex/poly arrangement. He could be made to be "thinner" or "fatter" with the scaling features. I'll see if I can knock-up a couple more pics.
Thanks for the comments!

edit:
I've attached a fatter fat guy for example :

Good Point. I'll have to fix them.

Prime_8,
Your already on the list
With the stuff that you have done with EZrotate, I was going to see if you had some time to try this out.

Well, not much was done over the weekend. I found some problems with the rigging in the shoulder area. There was a lot of pinching and bad deformation. Shoulders are HARD to tweak properly to get good deformation. I have reworked it and have pretty good results now though.
The rest of my weekend was spent working on my house. We sold it a couple weekends ago, and have the inspection this week. I'll be moving soon! I can't wait!

I'd love to get hold of this as soon as possible (it'll be great for my RPG/adventure/RTS game) and it looks beautiful

So roughly how far into making it are you? (% wise?)

I should have some new screens soon. I now have the mesh changing integrated into the editor. That was a bit more difficult to do than I expected. I had to change my approch to some things. It is now working very good though
The next part to get working (hopefully over this weekend) is the individual limb scaling.

Quote: "So roughly how far into making it are you? (% wise?)"

When it comes to getting all of the features worked out, I am probably about 30% (and moving nicely)
When it comes to CONTENT, well I'm not very far at all. lol
Even after release though, I will always be adding to the content, so it would be hard to put any kind of percentage on it.

As I said before, I'm hoping to be pretty far with this by the end of summer. More than likely though I won't be ready for release until winter.

Looking sw33t WOLF. Been trying to model humans for ages and have failed miserably, I have even resulted to looking for freebie models off of places like 3dCafé . I will definately buy this software, and sign me up for beta testing if you could. Do you have any idea of a release data for the software?

Anyway keep up the good work!

Repeating what everyone else says - looks really useful. I'd be willing to beta test it and I'll certainly consider a purchase when it's all completed... sdk? facs to add and save out your own custom animations?

Hi all!

Sorry for the lack of progress updates. I'm in the midlle of selling my current home and moving into my new home. So, I've been pretty busy over the last couple of weeks....

Since the scaling features are now done, I am working on the skin features. The skin features are what creates the characters texture for all exposed skin areas (except on his face). This includes things such as nuscle tone, skin color, and body hair.

There probably wont be much progress to see over the next few weeks. A lot of the stuff that I am currently working on is internal to the application. My time will also be pretty limited throughout June. Between painting the new house, packing, moving, unpacking, and a week at the beach, June is going to be a busy month. That is not saying I'm not going to be working on this during June, just not at the rate that I have the last couple months.

Thank you everyone for your comments!

Ron

lol

I wondered if anyone would bring this topic back from the dead.

Anyway, progress continues.... well, sort of. While working on EZactor, there were some tools that I had to create. I realized that one of those tools would be of great use to some other people. I've been working on that as of late.
The bad news is that EZactor hasn't been my only focus. The good news is that I should be finishing this OTHER tool this week. The only info right now is that it is cool, and will add great and easy customization to your games. Watch for news real soon!
Then it is back to EZactor with 100% of my programming time
