o ya, forgot to tell you guys, im doing a diff. system than monthly payments...

i think ill be using paypal for this one: ill be doing sorta what they do for xbox live, you purchase "Game Cards" worth either 6 months($5,may change) or 1 year($9,may change)

i think monthly payments are sorta a hassle

Thats pretty much what they do for WoW. I'd suggest a one monther though, people would want one a more trial period rather then starting off with an obligation.

i hate them too.. its just, i need a little bit of money to keep the site up(i purchased a domain and im working on the site with a friend; when its finished ill release it) and stuff like that, thats why im trying not to make it too expensive like other MMOs (ex. WoW is like $15 per month ; but i dont care much, i hate WoW )

aha
well im covering MY server costs by making and selling plugins..

anyhow. why he cant use his own money or something
or make the server on his own computer

Cause most internet providers dont let you use your home line as a server. Selling plugins wont make you enough to keep a server live for a mmorpg.

how many isp`s actually say you cant host a server off your pc? 1st ive heard, ive hosted a few server apps off my various pc`s and havent had any problems, and i dont think its a very good idea to think about howto charge people for your game before youve even made it, and you havent got to the stage where you need a dedicated server with a really high badwidth line.

atleast there not negative ones :p,

so your telling me that paying for the main site is more important than getting a server for your mmorpg?, and besides hosting a site doesnt cost much depending on how much bandwidth it uses.

@dark coder: SHUT UP!!! UR ALWAYS BOTHERING ME!!! i dont need a HUGE server right now! i only need that when i have like 1000+ people!! right now i have 3! my 2 friends and I!

@oneka: idk, i think mine just gets more posts cause of the cost controversy, not really anything to do with the game itself... but i do look at urs though, if that makes you feel better

Jason, if you need to pay for something, get a job. Don't make gamers pay for a game that 1) Is extremely unprofessional, 2) Is no where near complete, and 3) Isn't as fun as some of the other, free, mmorpgs.

common people are walking in line.

@gogeta: thats the list of characters that one person has on there account, you can have up to 5 per account; since registering is finished yet, you can just click the login button with the user and pass blank and just choose a character name for testing

@open: "1) Is extremely unprofessional"; well, that not very nice and quite obvious as i dont have a bagillian dollars to fund a true company
"2) Is no where near complete"; that is such a lie, what do u think im doing? sitting around all day and acting like im doing progress? i have the server working, you can select creatures, chat, collision, gravity and im working on inventory right now and my friend is working on battle and then AI is next... i wouldnt say "no where near complete", im definetly more than half way
"3) Isn't as fun as some of the other, free, mmorpgs"; how would u know retard? the only way you could have played it was if you hacked my pc, made it a zombie to turn on my server and then run the game off ur pc, so you wouldnt know

im not sure you realise how much work an mmorpg needs, if it was 50% i would expect to see caracter creation completed, with accessories and npc`s and battle scenes, tbh all youve posted sofar is a terrain and sky with a overlaying sprite be it a 'login' screen or 'inventory'

while i have no problem with people posting mmorpg`s, its just i dont think you even realise how much work needs to be done in an mmorpg, you seem to think you know everything that needs doing and you think your at around half way, but the truth is your closer to 5%.

and whats with insulting everyone? were just stating our opinions, as you seem to have briefly planned some aspects, i mean youve planned that your going to charge customers a monthly fee, yet you probably havent thought about how you will make the transactions secure, etc etc etc blah blah

i never once said i didnt doubt how long youve been planning it. just i doubt what youve been planning, realistically if you showed any avid mmorpg player the screenshots you have presented they would most definently not agree that its 50%.

and my main gripe is that your screenshots dont sem to ever support your 'hype' for instance you said that you can now select creatures, not exactly sure what that means but where are these creatures? wheres this chat system in action? wheres this battle system? etc etc

Jason, having ideas for a game, is not working on a game.
From what I can tell, I've progressed more on my game, in the 4 years you have supposedly been "working" on your game, in the past 2 weeks and I'm lazy.
I work on my game about once a week, and play Guild Wars the rest of the time, and I'm progressing alot faster. And whoopy, a login screen. I had that on day 2.
And Dark Coder has said basically everything I wanted to.

and I HAVE MORE THAN JUST A LOGIN SCREEN!!! JEEZ! I SAID ILL POST THEM IN A BIT!!!!

you don't need 1 penny to make a quality game once you have the right software (and im assuming you at least have those)

you're not even close to half way. and my point was, not even close to the point where you should be charging people to play.

Quote: "

, not like thats any better.

but seriously how long does it take to post acreenshots of you and a friend online? using your semi complete battlesystem using the monsters youve picked, im sure that if most people had made all of the features you say they would be very happy.

That was dumb.
How do you know, what I don't?
If you keep thinking people don't know jack squat about MMORPGs,
you're basically saying you know everything there is needed to be done. So don't tell me what I don't know, because buddy, I know how hard it is to make a MMORPG.
If you have been really working on this for 3 years, it'd be a ton farther.
A ton farther.
That's all that need be said.

However, I still think you could be farther.
And by the way, those ever green trees have a very nice and cartoony style to them. They fit with everything very well.
How come you aren't using that character model you had shown us a while back?

well, an update even though no new screenshots yet:

-added file encryption so that no one can copy my files
-added a loading bar
-FPS now doesnt go below 21 yay!

the only problem is that decryption is a little slow and it increases load times... but thats about it. am also looking to export the human, bee, and mandragora soon

I'm sorry to hear that, not to seem to negative on this project but, meh free-speach + constructive crit...

What's up with the out ragous number of poly's used?!?! Standard levels consist of well below 100k amount of poly's.

As some people have pointed up above... the FPS 7????
Quote: "FPS now doesnt go below 21 yay!"
your yay'n about 21 fps???? You really require to optimize this game so it can even be playable.

Now for the good points: I'm glad to see your still optimistic about your project being successful its the key to success you know . One serious question though, do you plan on optimising your game with a farrrrrrrrrrr...rrrr..rrrr...rrr*deep breath*rrrrrrrrrrrr lower poly count?

Good luck

@Froz: thx

@General: ya, im yayin' about 21 fps cause thats its lowest while doing a lot of calculations(ex. this happens while in a forest) it goes up to 30 fps in normal grounds(like towns and plains ect.)

and the 500k polys, well, i dont see too much of a problem since i want to make a camera radius as far as possible, and mind, that most of these screenshots are on the highest settings that im making available(medium settings display about 400k polys in that same spot) and im still working on it, so there is always room for improvement

also, before i showed screenshots of the forest, it used to be 1.5 million polys, that scared me and forced me to lower it by removing more than half the polys on the tree models

do this: make a the radius of the camera huge, if you want, but do a function that if the distance between you're object and another object is higher than a number tat you'll make, hide the object else show the object. That should reduce the polygons count, if you aven't already did that. Then, if the object is not in screen, hide it, it should also lower the polys, if, again, you aven't already did that.

but anyway, good luck with you're project, it's coming along good. Hope to see some multyplayer screenies soon.
