Here is a basic thing from the game code involving just setting variables to switch a gun for one of the earlier versions of the game when there were only three guns:



That code may not be completely accurate because I was doing it from my head, but you get the point that you will be able to go through and look at each and every part of the code and understand what it means.

Pretty classic example of bad commenting. For example:
`Hide current gun object
hide object gun

and

'show the new gun
show object gun

The comment is almost exactly the same as the line of code. And another classic:

`end the if statement
endif

What is the point in that comment. This level of commenting just confuses the reader in my opinion, better of with a block at the top of the function describing the basic behaviour and fewer comments in the code, not comments for every single line.

Okay, so it is not that much commented. But I am just trying to show it will be highly commented. It will be to the point of saying maybe just how the variables work. More aimed for the noobs who have not a single clue about dbp, but also pointing out good programming techniques.

Westy, be quiet. I signed up on GameDev.net, so I will be posting around there a little. So, I am working on the demo guys. I think that I am going to download Newton for physics and collisions, and maybe sparky's dlls for collisions. The game is about 9% done right now.

I think it's rather strange how some people consider themselves intellectuals if they can make a sarcastic comment against another person over the internet. Very brave . But the sad truth is that those who get angered in such a way that they must justify their lack of intellectual confidence by "flaming" or "pwning" a person through words that they believe will accomplish their goal of making his/her (probably his most of the time) opponent feel as miserable as they are. Westy, if you had the ability to take yourself off your pedastol and look at yourself for a moment, you would see a sad little nerd who's greatest accomplishment in life is making some kid feel bad over what you typed about him on some forum. I'm not saying gamedev is in the right, (you both really have made fools of yourself) but there is no point in your existence here if all you are gonna do is say that stuff to people. "oh boo hoo! this kid got his accounts frozen! its the end of the world!" Ok. I feel you've gotten a good enough taste of your own medicine. Moral of the story: Get a life.

Hi everyone. Okay, here is what I have done with the game so far:

1. Reported Westy
2. Got 3DWS and started some new level work
3. Finished Player module
4. Reported Westy again
5. Added in new enemies (no enemies that shoot yet)
6. Made some new graphics
7. Lastly reported Westy

Westy, just to let you know I am not banned on GD.Net and I have only had one account. If you are mistaking me with someone else, ban yourself fool. I also said please keep this topic down unless you have something to contribute.

PS Westy does not own any TGC products. Have you all noticed that he is only posting in my topics and flaming me for some odd reason.

And why you took the trouble to find him and criticize him just as he states he's building a demo for us and regularly posting realistic updates is beyond me. Seriously, get a life.

@Gamedev, if you could show some screens of the actual game with some of the updates you've mentioned, that might stop a lot of spam. But only show them if they take place in one of the levels you modeled, or people might be critical.

He was originally banned for taking someone elses work, someone on this forum, and posting the work as his own as an IOTD. If you are happy to be lied to and credit for your work to be stolen from you then thats your call, having spent 20 years in game development I have a little more respect for honest members of the community. I started out trying to help Gamedev, offered him help and advice if he would stop his lies, and after numerous emails where he said he knew he was wrong and would stop he just kept coming back and doing the same again. I actually stopped other more annoyed people from reporting the guy for having copies of 3ds Max and Maya, but again that was thrown back at me. I want to see him to make his game and for it to be a success, Iam still more than willing to help him if he needs help, but he needs to stop the attention seeking and lieing to members of the community.

I would be happier than anyone if he came back and just followed through on one of his promises, be if 'real' in game screens instead of faked ones, or a video, or a demo that his own work and not someone elses. I will congratulate him and show him the respect that his efforts would then deserve.

As for getting a life, no need, got one thanks

I'm not banned on gamedev, don't have 3ds, and you should shut up and ban yourself here. Okay, so lets make this topic about my game.

The new name for the game is Time Wraith and I am just trying to get some stuff to work with 3dws and then a demo will be out. I want my levels to all be terrain based, and now I can make um that.

But to get back on the main topic, maybe you should post some other screen shots for showing us some action, like, a combat between an enemy.
