I've just finished a new build for my shooter game Kaisertal. You can download it from this website http://www.kaisertal.com. Just go to the downloads section and get it.

This new build features my ORS (Online Ranking System).
Check out the Ranking page to see the current top 9 shooters.

I challenge you to play the game and try to beat the current highscores!!

As always there will be all sorts of problems and bugs, post a reply or drop me an email if you run into any kind of issues.

Also I'm very interested to know what kind of average frame rates people get..

I hope you enjoy this update!

Very very cool! I played and played until I managed to get onto the highscore table

Can't wait to see more of this game, it's wonderful. No bugs that I could see - my only comment would be that I didn't know about the smart bomb until I read the text file (it should say in the game) and sometimes there were moments of real speed-up when very few objects on screen (like just a few coins falling, the game seemed to notch up another 20 fps and they fell down really fast!).

Awesome game, as in your last thread. But you should have the enemy list in the game as well as on your site, and I still think it's far too easy to die. You should have a shield upgrade that can take a hit or two as well as the three lives. You should also be able to get more lives somehow.
I did beat the demo, but it took me three tries, and I assume this is going to be the first stage of the final game.
Most of the game I got an fps of 49, but there were a few moments when it went down to 4 for a second.
Excellent game. Great work.

Bizar - You can earn extra lives by scoring enough points (10.000 for the 1st one)

I've cleaned up the high-score list just now so you can have fair go and get your name listed

For people who don't know it, press the Shift button to drop a bomb.

A new build will be available around Friday this week.
It will feature a player/ship select screen, new weapons and ... music!

I was hoping that wouldn't happen, but it did.
The problem is that someone shutdown the game while entering a name, and it doesn't like that! (yet)

The level actually rotates around the player, which looks quite cool.

Averaged 5-6 FPS, 16 top(yes my computer sucks bad), also when I go to the desktop and click back into the game i get a runtime error and then it crashes(once again, probably my crappy comp), very good looking game though.

Yes, rotates like in Nanostray and other shooters like Ray Crisis or Ikaruga.

There are shadow effects for the player fighter and for the enemies, but I forgot to turn them on when I made this screenshot

I love the new update, great job.

I had only one problem. At one point I crashed into a massive asteroid right in front of me, and when I was regenerated, I ended up inside the asteroid and thus died immeadiately, losing my last life.

Maybe some raycasting to check if the respawn spot is safe..

Very nice. I did have some problems though, at one point, when I was touching the bottom of the screen, I got killed for no apparent reason, and another time I destroyed an invisible object. Otherwise the game plays great, the new models are awesome, and the game overall feels more playable.
One thing that really bugged me was that I got pretty far and my score was quite high when I died, but when the game went to rank it, it said someone else was entering a score and I had to wait. Them after a time the game up and told me to try again later. I was annoyed, because my score was lost. I then played again, and the next time I tried to enter something in the high score list, someone was there again, and I once again told to try later.

Yeah, some enemies that disappear at the bottom of the screen still fire backwards, if your ship is also at the bottom you can't see them firing at you.

That invisible thing you killed, where was it?

About the highscores, this problem only occurs if another player quits the game while entering a highscore, the server then keeps waiting until the player has finished typing (what never happens). And it probably has also something to do with connection problems with firewalls. But I'll look into it again!!

Thanks for addressing my complaints. I think you should consider making the ships stop shooting as soon as they're off screen, and the invisible thing was in the asteroid field.

great stuff m8, this is what it's all about. PURE ARCADE !!!

please add support for Xarcade professional controllers, is is basically an extension of the keyboard and is detected with the keystate() command.

up = numpad 8 = keystate(72)
down = numpad 2 = keystate(80)
left = numpad 4 = keystate(75)
right = numpad 6 = keystate(77)

fire 1 = left CTRL = keystate(29)
fire 2 = left ALT = keystate(56)
fire 3 = spacebar = keystate(57)
fire 4 = left SHIFT = keystate(42)
fire 5 = z = keystate(44)
fire 6 = x = keystate(45)
fire 7 = c = keystate(46)
fire 8 = 5 = keystate(6)

adding this would be sheer awesomness for those of us who have real arcade controllers.

Game has come along nicely since last time I played it.

Few annoyances;

1. Get same problem as Bizar Guy when you respawn inside huge asteroid after dying and so you lose another life straight away. Mainly happens when those spinny aliens appear who seem to be able to fly about behind the asteroid and fire at you. Not sure that should be allowed either!

2. Choice of keys is bad. On my keyboard it is impossible to move diagnally and fire at the same time. This is most infurating when trying to dodge lots of bullets. This is why most shooters use left ctrl or left shift as fire.

3. Font could do with upgrading a bit as it's really quite difficult to read. As main game graphics have been improved over previous versions I hope you will get around to the font.

Other than that the game is great!

1. Spawning inside the rocks has been fixed, won't happen again.
And those spinning enemies haven been removed there as well.

2. Left CTRL is now used as the fire key (instead of space bar)

3. About the font, i'm not sure how to fix this, it has something to do with sprite scaling. Some texts are scaled to 101% to make them readable but it doesn't work in all cases. I might change it to a different font.

These fixes and changes will be in the new build, which will be released soon.

wow, really awesome game here. glad to see the in-the-rock spawn is fixed...
that got me once. i especially love to wavering plant-life that you have to destroy...it looks so cool.

Cool game - ran at ~25fps on my laptop too (which only has 32MB built in ati graphics!)

Spawning inside the rocks happened to me - glad to see yo've got it fixed. And the online highscore table is very fun too.

Hey all!

The new build is finally ready for download!!

New features:
- Solid 60fps
- New bullet routines (faster and more accurate)
- Player doesn't spawn inside rocks anymore<br>
- Level 2 added (finish level 1, kill the boss, play level 2)
- New font (should be readable now)
- Support for Xarcade controllers
- Improved name entering for the highscore list

Woo Hoo!!! I'm at the top of the high score!!!!!!!!!!!!

Works great, my only complaint is thqat the first level now runs at 20fps for me, and the second at 2. This is anoying, as it was running at 50 fps before. Just so you know, I do meet the recomended reqierments on your website.

20fps? that is bizar, I tested it on multiple machines and it ran at 60fps each time

i did notice some slowdowns when other programs in the background were running though, maybe it is that?

- Enemy bullets now have the highest draw priority so they don't disappear behind explosions or player bullets.
- Some geometry fixes
- Player spawning fixed for level 2
