True it is for media but there are some apps here too, Blender being one of them.
So, yes, I have corrected the spelling mistake. Thanks Dodic.

Also added Fam Fam Icons.

This is a first in the history of my visiting forums... a rockin' thread exists, I vanish for what seems like ages and ages, and when I return, voila! The thread is still going. Again Scraggle, you rock

Does anyone know of an audio clip site? Like, a place where I can find audio clips of politicians blabbing? I refuse to use google because it's against my religion, and hotbot didn't turn up anything useful lol.

OK it may be against your religion but it isn't against mine.
Ordinarily I would ignore a request like this because it screams of laziness! However, since you think I rock I googled for you ... try this

I just found this one websurfing

Axeman 3d

http://www.axeman3d.com/models.htm

However...
Quote: "Axeman: LEGAL STUFF: PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ! - These models were donated by myself and others for you to use in any non-commercial ventures, and as such are considered 'Freeware', in that the original author of the mesh still holds copyright of that mesh even though they let you use it. Some of the models you may find are from other franchises and copyright holders, and you therefore also risk the wrath of the design copyright holder if you try and used such meshes in any commercial venture without first obtaining permission from the original holder. Please don't distribute or directly link to these files, it can be construed as theft. Sorry for the heavy legalese but my last site got pillaged and some smart cookie decided to sell 31 models as his own creations on a commercial site, when in fact they belonged to myself and 3 other artists, and included material copyrighted by Lucas Arts and 20th Century Fox. He got found out within a day or so and paid the price, and it also gave me a rather nasty fright. Please be sensible, thank you and enjoy."

The axeman stuff is very impressive but I can't include it in the list for two reasons ...
1) Most (if not all) of the models are based on commercially licensed products, so, although the author is giving them away free, I doubt the original license holder will be too happy.
2) They look very high poly. Far too high for games.

I have however added three new links to: free planet,Nebulae and star packs.

Free sprites based off of Game consoles. Please do not use for commercial software. However, there are also custom sprites that might be allowd to be used.

Added 3Drt. They have some excellent free downloads available but I would also recommend looking at the rest of the site. Their models are aimed at game-makers and the UV mapping is magnificent. They share textures across multiple models really saving loads of video ram.

Definately worth a look

P.S. Don't be shy ... if you have some good free media sites in your favourites folder. Let me know and I can add them to the first post

@ZtEaLmAx That has been in the list from the start but thanks for your input.

[Update]

Added to Models:
The 3D Studio
3DExtra

Added to Textures:
3DExtra
Celestia Motherlode

Changed Limefly to reflect it's new name and website.

I strongly recommend looking at Celestia Motherlode if you want some space based images. There are a lot of genuine real world (real solar system(?)) textures and some wonderful fantasy planet textures too.

As always, please post any links you have that are not mentioned.

Thank you

@Scraggle

Have you got any sources for free cube maps? I'm going to browse your links, but it's not clear where to look.

I can't think of any off hand ... sorry.

If you don't find any in any of the supplied links but do find some elsewhere then please let me know and I will add it to the list.

[Edit] I am correct in saying that a cube map is just six seperate images used to assign reflectivity? If so, then a skybox would be a good solution. I have a good link for some skyboxes on my home PC that I haven't got round to putting up here yet. I will do it when I get home from work.

Not quite. The version I'm thinking of is the dds file format produced by DxTex.exe - the DirectX Texture tool that comes with the DirectX SDK. That format has 6 different images stored in a special way (you can also create volume maps which are bigger beasts still). There may be other formats which are supported by some applications. For example, I've seen some cube maps which are a single image with six different sections pieced together. Shaders for example support the dds format as far as I know.

I'll let you know if I find any useful sources - a separate category in your list could be useful then.

Ah, I see.

However, as promised, here is the link for the sky boxes:
http://www.octanedigitalstudios.com/

Although at the moment it is over it's badwidth limit, so it won't work

I have added two new sections:
SkyBoxes & Cubemaps

And added links to some that I have found.

I also found this plug-in for Photoshop which shuffles your six images to make a cube map.

Cheers!

I've found various sources for skyboxes (i.e. 6 separate images which can be pieced together into a single DDS cube map) but not DDS cube maps themselves. I think you've already listed the sources I've found though. I'll keep my eyes open for cube maps.

Thanks.

Could you change the Ozark Games links to this one now:

http://www.ozarkgames.com/mainsite/Freebies.html

Its our new site, and that link goes directly to the "Freebies" section of it. I've made everything MUCH easier to navigate and grab what you need, according to the format you want. Group 3 is still a work in progress at this time (hoping to have it filled out by the end of January).

Thanks.

Trying to keep this thread alive, so I have added several more links.

Three graphics thread from David Gervais - not sure why it has taken me so long to include these

Breakbeat Terrorism - Fallout's music. There is no reference on the site as to the royalty free status of the music but I recently used a track in Concentric (my compo entry) and Fallout was happy for me to use his music. So if you like what you hear (and I am sure you will) then drop him an email and see what he says.
.

The 'Learning to write Shaders' thread has aquired a link. It is a useful thread because of it's semi-tutorial nature and the fact that there are several shaders available in it.

If you know of any other free media threads or sites then post it here and I will append the first post.
