Seriously, is there no way to get ahold of him? Can somebody call him again? This is really starting to get me irate. Paypal will do nothing as it's past the 45-day time (for me anyways), and Kang is doing nothing to alleviate our problems.

Every day that goes by just makes me more angry, and I am the type that doesn't angry easily. But when it comes to my money, which I do not like to throw around, I expect a certain level of support and comfortability.

Anybody want to buy my EA copy for the EA price?

I think if they got enough complaints, and why we waited to report, as we were duped into thinking it was a handful of different problems, they may investigate, fraud is fraud.

I have all the emails Sam sent me, with all the excuses, so closing his web site, to hide the con wont help there, yes we can't access the site, but I have taken a screen shot of the message, to give to Pay Pal as well, but I am waiting until Friday to start any action, that should be plenty of time for Sam to do the right thing, which he won't.

No news yet ? Maybe Cobra_One wants to call him again. Everybody wants to know if we still can except the software.
I am sure everyone will appreciate it.

I seriously doubt we will hear a thing now.. Shame.

I just think it is very low and totally unprofessional to go about "business" like this! There needs to be some sort or explination for this!!!!

Someone at TGC must be able to contact Kang!!! They endorsed his product in the newsletter!!!

It is a shame, but I did make a couple of good acquaintences there while the site was up. The real shame would be to see something with so much potential get dropped. But, I guess it's about time to wrap this one up and stop checking in. Maybe.

Seems like I promised somebody a while back on the Q forums that if it didn't work out I'd buy the rope and the beer. What the hell was I thinking???

Yeah, I actually thought I'd be working on a game right now. Everything he promised for Quikly seemed doable, though I was worried about his timelines for adding media and stuff. I think something more than just a scam must've happened given the work he put into Quikly. Unless it was just something he was playing around with and decided to sell to cover a mafia debt or something. I'm still expecting the e-mail that says the software is now available for download. It's probably time to move on though, regardless of what happens. I wish I had my $35 back to put toward BeyondVirtual or something else...

Yah, I am more than a little irate that I lost fifty some odd dollars from this. I will not forget about this, and most likely not pre-order any EA product from anyone ever again. This just messed up my ability to trust people on the Internet.

@Aoneweb - Please let us know when you send the complaint to Paypal, so we can lodge our own complaints at the same time. I hope that somebody over there will listen to us if there are multiple simulataneous complaints.

I was kind of hoping the same thing, moogal. I have more irons in the fire than I can keep up with right now, but I'd have taken time to play. I think the early timelines was a big part of the problem, you can kill yourself like that. I don't think it was a scam, there was already too much there that actually worked. Just didn't get far enough to be production software.

I keep thinking the same thing about the email, but I'm not going to think about it anymore. If it comes, great. Meantime, the problem is decent hovercraft physics in Torque and some believable AI. Right after I get my partner's script work done I promised him two nights ago. Always some glitchy little problem to hold things up. Before you know it, my partners will be starting a thread wondering if I'm scamming them...

Probably true, Dave. Just that people needed a place to air things out a little and this seemed like the place. People tend to gravitate toward the last sighting of what they're looking for.

As I've said before, I know there are people who spent money they probably couldn't afford and I feel bad about that, but for myself - I've lost a lot more money on vaporware in the past. Not saying Quikly is vaporware yet, just that I'm used to it.

We live and learn, but we still have to take a chance once in a while...

Just one old man - I like Corona

I bet a bunch of drunk coders showing up at his house might make him change his mind about finishing this software... especially if we were intent on hanging him. Lawl.

If you let him get away with it, he will do it again, set up another web site, use what software he has under another name or somthing.
No I will be writing to PayPal, with copies of the emails he sent me.
I will be in England this year, and me and some freinds will pay him a call.
Nobody is gonna rip me off, no matter the amount, I mean that, I am Pi$$ed.

i agree scams are gay, people curing all kinda of dieses are one thing, but actually pretending to have a product in development and charging people for a cd is pretty lame, if someone did that in my country and was near me i would do what aone said, cause they will just rename the files change the art and just do it all over again elsewhere :/.

What goes around comes around if a scam is the case. However, lets stop with the theories until we find out what really has happened.

I think everyone should do what they feel comfortable with, whatever that is. Can't really blame anybody for that. I still don't think it was meant to be a scam, just something that for whatever reason didn't get finished. Doesn't make it any more palatable, but there's a difference for me.

I don't know that we'll ever find out what really happened, but I suppose at least some of it will eventually come out. And look at all the things we've learned in the last few months - for instance, I never knew that Lynx liked Corona...

Well theres nothing more to do when until (and if) Sam comes back, I hate being scammed, but I don't make too much of a big deal about it, I try to contact the scammer, if no reply, I report them to the admin, and if they scam me with pirated software (Which hasn't happened yet) I would call the authorities, but I think the idea of waltzing to his house is silly. I mean I was almost scammed for £40 on ebay the other, good thing the idiot made multiple posts of the same product (heck the same post) all saying I only just bought it and lost the manuals

The implication in what you are saying is that you propose to threaten him - that would be a criminal offence. I wouldn't try anything like that unless you want to round off your lovely British holiday with a stint in a British jail.

Can I make an incredibly practical suggestion? Someone who has his phone number, give him a call. If you don't get any satisfaction from that, write him a polite letter advising him that you need to hear from him within 14 days otherwise you'll raise the matter with Trading Standards and the police.

If it is true (and note the "if") that he has taken your money without having any product to sell, he might (note the "might") have committed offences contrary to the Theft Acts 1968 and 1978.

TDP Enterprises, Why are you even posting if this has nothing to do with you, go out and try to make some real friends, I know it's hard talking to real people, but you can do it, and remember, making fun of other peoples misfortunes while sitting behind a computer screen, playing with yourself, will never make you a man, no matter how brave it makes you feel.

just an idea for guys who have cd's with a key on the sticker's
most scams don't bother to randomise the keys ..
possibly pm each other for those who have posted they got teh cd's

so if you all have say the same last 4 digits/char's the same then well it's prolly a scam .

but you all would have to post the say the last 4 chars only ..
and if they all match move to teh next 4 ..

and well hey if all the keys are the same ...

Please, let's only have constructive posts here. You obviously haven't been following this story, as we all waited a long time before anyone even used the word 'scam'.

And I too agree with Philip. A fellow UKer has called him a few weeks ago, but I say do it again and see what's up. I will write a snail mail letter to him because he hasn't replied to any of my emails (and he most likely won't).

Does anyone know of a UK government entity who will work to resolve money matters for foreigners? Since I'm so far away I'm not likely able to knock on his door and request the money, or take him to small claims.

I was the one who spoke to Sam on 2nd April and he told me he would have some good news in a week or two. As he has not posted on the Forum I will try to contact him again tomorrow (as it is 2310 hrs here in the UK at the moment) and let you know what he says.
I will emphasize again everyones concern and that most of us will be looking for a refund if the software is not forthcoming.

Hey, i've got my Copy of Quikly game studio (CD-ROM Version), it looks quite proffesionally done, however I can't install it as Sam has added a security feature to it requiring me to be connected to the internet in order to install it and to also get any updates for it. However I can't install it as his server is "under construction", i've had my copy since before april. I'm surely not the only person to have got their CD-ROM come through the post?

I have sent PayPal the below email, and also filed a fruad complaint with PayPal, I suggest you all do the same.
If nothing else, we will stop this happening again.

Quote: "I am writing to complain that I have sent money to an account hosted by PayPal, and have not received the completed software as promised.
Please let me say at this point, there is a number of us that have not had our orders for filled, and I am urging them to write to complain as well.
Despite a number of emails, and a phone call, I have had no offer of a resolution to my requests, in fact, my emails were never replied too.
I was given many excuses over the last few months, and have been patient, but know enough is enough.
It may not be possible you can help with the recovery of any monies stolen by this person, but I do feel you should not allow him any more access to PayPal, so he does not do this again.
Thanks for your help.

I have contacted legal advisors for getting my money back. I asked them first to write a letter which is a refund request and otherwise to handle it through a incasso agency.
It's only 30 Euro's but the lack of respect towards his customers pisses me off. Therefore I follow this path.

I will keep you updated how it goes.

Greetings.

He's about 1 hour away from me, even though we're in the same County. Argh, why can't the UK be smaller?
