Well, before I carry on with the rest of my game, could you all help me critique it? Such as game speeds, and images and what not, you don't have to do it for me, just tell me. Here is the link:

Hope you all like it!

Oh yah, I'm still looking for a name

Hi David - that's some really nice artwork your producing here. Might I suggest that you consider creating a website for your material - assuming that there is going to be more of it? The advantage would be that you could sort the artwork into categories to make it easy for users to find what they're after, and perhaps even for users to add to the resource. You could make it worth your while by charging for more complicated work, or commision work. Just a thought.

Good idea Ric, unfortunately, I'm second fiddle on my brother's account for accessing the net and do not have any personel web space. That's why I have been using Imageshack. (to a-make my artwork available and b-not eat up any of your bandwidth.)

I do have experience in web design, but unfortunately again I do not have the finances to have my own website.

(I put all work on hold while I take care of my mom here at home. She has Leukimia and Empuzima and has just survived a bout with pneumonia. Tomorrow we take her in for a regular transfusion, Hopefully she'll be back home by tomorrow night.)

I'll continue doing things this way for now, and if finances permit I will consider setting up my own web space.

Cheers!

Easy, I have a website and I don't pay a dime for it.

Visit www.madmanhosting.tk for free web hosting with no bandwidth restrictions, and 1gig of space. (No ads either)

Edit : You can also ask for templates to be made

I would be happy to set you up with some space on the Open MMORPG site. No expectations to create art for the project, but you would be free to post all your work and state what (if any) limitations you would like (for example; you could even prevent the project from using your art if you wanted, and we would abide by your restrictions). We can set you up as a moderator for your own art board. There are only a few rules about file types to help keep the cost of the site reasonable (.png files are perfectly acceptable).
Kenjar has been paying for the site (I think he had it paid up for a year), and I just made a contribution to keep it going and/or upgrade it. So it's not going anywhere soon.

Just take a look here: http://www.gamersol.co.uk/OMMORPG/index.php

Your artwork can also be covered under the project's EULA, if you choose, which basically protects it to remain open source and freeware.

Cheers!

P.S. DBPro Guy I think Dabip's comment was aimed at me (And if you need help, just post a request, if it's within my abilities I see what I can do.)

Edit: Oh, and size info and or any other specs would be aprieciated along with the requests.

I hadn't been up to downloading lately. I have been going through tutorials on dbp. I am still new to DBP (I learnt it originally from someone not interested in using it for making games) I dropped DBP for a year, when I realised how much money I spent on DBP I decided to get back to it. I have been learning for about 2-4 weeks now.

Dabip, I gave your game a run,.. I found this tiny eyesore..

Just a slight offset shift needed. +2 pixels on the x axis will align them properly.

Cheers!

Edit: To keep the edit streak going,.. I got accepted for free hosting at the madman site. I'll set up a quick page when the passwords etc get set up.

Comming along nicely, I made this quick background,..

It seems to work fine in the game, feel free to use it or not.

Cheers!

P.S. if you need the right hand panel to be more interesting, let me know. That would be easy enough to plug in.

Edit: I updated the background pic..

WOW!!! You took my idea, and expanded it further. I like it. Yah, if you want to, go ahead and make the side panel better. I forgot a score panel on the right too. So if you don't mind adding that if you make it better? Thanks!

Ok, I'm gonna take 1 image request, preferably a sprite tileset or somthing along those lines, for fun since I can't think of anything worthwhile to make myself. So in your reqest also specify what image format you want, bmp or png. If you choose png you get the option of transparencies and alpha maps. So, anyhow lets have a go at it. Then you guys can criticize/comment on it to help me do better.

Great, I don't need anything atm, but If I do, I'll just ask. I should of visited this thread earlier (as in weeks or days from when I first did). Then again, since I don't have DBP, I've never been here before.

DBPro Guy, that's strange, I sent an email and got a reply within minutes, of course I attached a few pieces of eyecandy to break the ice so to speak. here is the link to my site (under construction)..

http://madman1337.ftpaccess.cc/degart/

I would suggest you try again. Try a new heading like "David Gervais (or Dabip) told me about your free web hosting.." And tell him what you plan to use the site for and send a sample if possible. I suspect he gets allot of requests and is forced to filter the simple "Can I have free space?" one line requests.

Cheers!

EDIT: Dabip, I edited the earlier post with a new updated background.. I took the iniciative to slightly rename your game to "Xfighter". I hope you don't mind.

Hi,
Although it's been said by everyone else I'd also like to say thankyou. I really appreciate you taking the time to supply the community with free media, I've tried my hand at pixel art before and it was a lot harder than it looked , you must have some real talent. Thanks again.

EDIT:: And the site's looking great.

Of course I'll keep this thread going,.. Much mor fun to post and recieve feedback than just to upload to the website. I have some pacman sprites almost finished and I also have a new background/UI I'm doing.

Cheers!

P.S. I got most of the site set up, I even resurected my avatar emporium. (Warning, watching that page load is hypnotic. )

Here's some buttons and arrows I produced using vectors, I've included them in a PNG with background set to alpha which should make them easier to use in any 2D app. Hope you enjoy!

I made this mockup of the beginnings of an idea.. a pac man construction kit. where you could design levels and share them with friends. of course the construction kit would also allow you to play a game as well as build one.

The entire game board is made up of 32x32 tiles, and 32x32 sprites.

I'll post the ghost sprites and maze pieces later.

Comments are always welcome.

Cheers!

Edit: Here are the sprite files to go with the above UI..

Yeah, like I said, just some vector graphics I made, aside form the blue arrows they are 64x64 in size, and the long buttons are 64x32 which are nice sizes for sprites, and it's easy enough to cut them out with any package, or with DBP code.

@Gamefreak
There's a button on the side tool bar called "Draw a preset shape" (appears in the status bar at the bottom for PSP 7, might be different for later or eailer versions) then click on "Tool Options" and there's a drop down menu with a list of shapes. You can alter the styles as well by removing the tick from retain style.

Sorry I haven't been on for a while, my computer deleted all my documents, so I spent all 3 days from today trying to search for them on my HDD (through a deleted file program). Anyways. I'll have to redownload my game, and start from where I last posted. *sigh*. At least I did that.

I'd like to see someone create a decent lightsaber effect with DBPro. This has been raised time and time again in my 2.5 years in the community and nobody has managed it yet.

Wow, cant wait to see your work in Space Empires. Mind I ask you, did you do the planet work in it? I also have maybe a small request, what about a few flags? Just like made up flags, such as the small icon that represented races in Space Empires 4?. Sorry if this is something you cant do.

Undercover, I did all the UI stuff in SE5, including the stellar eye candy that is on several of the game screens. I also made a bunch of the planet textures, but I was not alone to make those, Aaron made a bunch himself. I also made the different 'event' pics, the surface pics, and just about anything that needed done on the 2D end of things, including the race flags/logos

A quick way to make flags is to use a dingbat type font and paste the symbols over a generic flag background.. What size flags do you need/want?

Cheers!
