Hi Benjamin,
bond is right, the sprite plane is intersecting with the wall geometry. The smoke sprite is simply too big for the room you've created.
To make it smaller, adjust the values in the gamecore/decals/litsmoke16/decalspec.txt file for scale (also adjust the offsetY value to scale divided by 2 - this adjusts the pivot point height to be at the base of the sprite plane as opposed to the centre)
Alternatively just make the room bigger.
