The contest started May 21st, so technically it's fair enough for Daten to enter with this one, isn't it?

As Freddy 007 said, I think it's fine as long as it was made since may 21st. That's about 2 weeks ago, so it should be fine as long as it was made within that period.

I had a go at one last night to teach myself Hexagon 2.0, 4 hours so far. I knew amapi previously, it was like working in that program at times.
I have run out of time for this weekend, work will dominate another 5 days until the weekend again. If I run out of time dont keep it running just for me, I cant guarantee ill have security in time to complete it. its incomplete so it doesnt count.

I like it indi. It's got the indi style to it, very low polygon. Once you optimize it, it'll be very efficient for use in games.

thanks mate, theres a lot of optimisations i can do once im happy with the over all shape. the smoothing in hexagon makes it look incredible but i cant push that button until the polys are right.

Yeah, I'm afraid too that the model has to be made for the competition... What a shame.

But then I will have to vote for Heckno. I really think your model has that awesome dragon touch to it.

I must say that daten's model is just amazing! If you used bump mapping and normal mapping on it you could easily put it in a game with less that 1k polys for it.

Indi and Daten...

Although they are really nice entries and are done within the time limit and had you got in sooner they would be valid according to the rules made, however Daten is a new member and could be sympethised with, and well the rules are flexible around the satisfaction of the participants, some would see entering the two pieces now would be unfair and others would think it would do know harm. I personally think its best to enforce the rules to keep things fair, although a shame to our new member, but he/she will have plenty of opportunities to show off his/her skills. So I am going to say lets not allow the entries in, because I'm a mean old bast*** Which would be shame, however if anyone has a sensible reason to allow Daten's I may reconsider...Sorry Daten and Indi

Anyway, I like the models from both of you, I can see Daten will make some WIPs that will give some of us something to work hard up to and Indi I like it, its a good start to Hexagon, it beats the dragon I did in the demo.

I concurr regarding my incomplete model. its no problem, the learning factor is reward enough for this exercise.

I wanted to show you this anyway, here is what it looks like in nurbs and smoothing of 2
I know the show is over but I cant get over this amazingly cheap 3d program.

Nice stuff there indi, I'd like to see you try the displacement brush on that thing for extra detail (but will probaly need smoothing of 3-6)

Well this is the last day for votes, so I'll end the contest and count the votes tomorrow

I'm voting for RUCCUS. All modeles were good, but the bold colors and smooth design won me over (some of these dragons look too much like dragon statues rather than living dragons) Nice job everyone.

@indi, cool, will be interested in seeing it

This contest has now ended, lets count the votes.

Ooga Booga: 5
Heckno: 3
Mike S: 1
Musashi: 1
RUCCUS: 1

Ooga wins once again, congradulations, I don't need to say all the you have 5 days yadayada stuff, I'm sure you know by now without me patronising you

However, If Ooga does not come up with a new theme by the end of today, then I will email MikeS (As he is the main mod supporting the contest, and I need a mod to be able to edit the main thread to keep up to date)to see if he will start off the next one, as I am away as of tomorrow and I'll be back on monday as I am going to be seeing some of my favourite bands at the Download Festival.

I vote for wigget and an extra half point for the joint work, but minus half a point for the texturing, but a half a point for that disturbing avatar, but that doesnt count so lose half a point. however practically speaking yours is more "complete" then every other one.
( modelled, textured, bone/jointed, hopefully animated. )

so technically your the only one to actually pass the contest so congratulations! mate woot. !!!
you won seriously if the rules are rules

I think these contests should be kept to strictly modeling(but textures and special effects are a nice touch).

I'll be glad to start off the next compo if Ooga or HeckNo don't pick a new theme. Congrats to Ooga for a nice model.

I loved the old Amiga 500, Theme Park, Monkey Island, Lemmings, Stunt Buggy, Lotus challenge, Gunship 2000 and pushover are all classics...too bad my Dad ebayed ours.

@MikeS, thanks I appreciate it, Ooga is likely to a pick a theme in time, I'll just need you to start the two threads and edit the first post in the stickied thread, I'm sure the regulars would be willing to help enforcing rules over the weekend, as they do help anyway If he doesn't post by this evening, I'll email you all of the details, although I'm sure you won't need most of them

When voting, you can't vote for yourself

No Wips in the entry thread

Thanks to all those who voted for me , and good job to everyone else, there were some impressive entries this compo.

The next compo will be a Weapon contest. This means anything from a rocket launcher to a pocket knife. Basically anything that is commonly used as a weapon (Don't model an iPod and say you could thow it at someone).
