@ Nickydude,
I downloaded this file a few days ago and have made my way through most of it. This is beyond helpful. I printed it up and put it in a binder, my many thanks to you.

No problem, version 6 should be out soon

Would anymore of you like to submit a picture for the front cover? Made in FPSC, the funnier the better (of course you can add your own stuff to the pic as well).

This is a few days late Nick, but when do you plan on releasing it. Heck, I got an idea for issue 6 thats kinda cute. I can always do with free advertising(if your still placing the artist home page that is).

I didn't realise I was on a schedule! I'll only release revisions when there's been sufficient addition to warrant it, adding a few questions or a script and then releasing it is something I won't do, I have to find the stuff myself as only two people have sent anything in

I've already got a pic for R6 but I'm always on the look out for more! RC6 will be released on monday (and is already 83 pages long!)

You'll just all have to twiddle your thumbs till then

This guide is a must-have to all newcomers (like me).
I really liked the ScriptBank section.
Thanks a lot, Nickydude.

Is it just the guide that crashes it?

Absolutely brilliant Nickydude! As a complete newcomer to FPSC this is exactly the type of document I need. Thanks for taking the time to put this together and maintain it.

Thanks

Not sure why it crashes, it's just a plain pdf file

I'm still working on this but other things have got in the way so you won't see an update for a while.

I was having the same problem so I right clicked on "Download the guide here" and selected "save target as" I saved the PDF file to a folder and then went from there. At least this worked for me. Not sure why trying to open it up directly from the website crashes either and I have the latest version 7.09. Of course, it must be a problem with Acrobat reader. Sometimes new is not better as oldversion.com always says.

As opposed to Highlander.

I'm going to be taking a break from FPSC for a while, I've just bought Multimedia Fusion 2 and want to get to grips with it, which means the guide won't be updated for a while, sorry but (in the words or Arnie) "I'll be back".

side note: there's an example game that comes with MMF2, written by one "Lee Bamber". Is he doing other stuff besides FPSC! How dare he!!

Very nice.

I have a (different) problem with the dead bodies.

I'm trying to change the leg position... and well.... look at the screenies in this post and the next 3.

....soz for the countless edits.... but i thought of something else....in the current version of the guide, after the last question in the Q&A section, the guide just finishes.

You should have a finishing paragraph like:

Hope you learned something from this guide

Happy game making,
Nickydude.

Just a thought

E.D.

Oh and you should add to your Q&A section:

Q: How do I have the player start with multiple weapons

A: Place all the weapons (up to 9) that you want the player to have under the player start marker.

(Excuse the terrible grammar, i was in a hurry)

Even if it was stickied in 10 foot tall bold letters in bright pink a new user called "New to FPSC need a hints & tips guide. Where can I find one?" would make a post titled "New to FPSC need a hints & tips guide. Where can I find one?"

@Nickydude... looking forward to the new revision...

We don't usually sticky threads like these. Not that I don't think this is an important thread as I have my own copy of the guide but simply becuase if we stickied every thread like this that deserved it the whole front page would be stickied.
What we usually do is Kieth usually posts the links to these threads in the appropriate stickies at the top of the forum. When we can get around to it that is what we will probably do.
Thraxas is right though. We used to have a sticky called "free stuff" in the models and media forum and we still got 5 posts a day about where to find free stuff.

It is stickied, kind of, in this thread: "Consolidated FPSC Chat Stickies: AKA Vital info for your FPSC experience." but as Thraxas say's people don't seem to read the stickies so I though it might be an idea to 'push it in the faces' of those who might need it (and to stop them asking the same question 5 times in a row!)

Butters, have you received my email?
