Ahhh, have you done the UK one? - it's not culturally biased, no currency stuff etc. Each test is different and measures a different IQ band, so some might go from 90 to 250, like Mensa IQ tests, not many easy questions on those I bet!.

ROFL, But people don't realize that the BBC IQ test is not what you would expect from a Real closed room IQ test. The point of the test was to get a general feeling of what the Nations IQ level has become, whether it has gone up, or down depending on peoples life style. Take me for example, according to the end survey, I drink FAR in excess of the recommened limit <GG> yet every time I do have a drink, I have a moment of clarity which could be described as err.. erm.. ah yes.. Intellectually stimulating LOL.

.. Maybe I should have took the IQ test when I was pi**ed.

Where is this US test, and how come the grading is different. Surely that means that you can't make a fair comparison between US and UK?

I'm beginning to think that some of these scores are overexaggerated. Seriously, 115, 130, 129, or whatever, thats's B/S. No way were they first attempt scores. I just don't buy it. There was one chap in the whole of the UK that did the test once and got a score of around 130-150, and he was 70 years old. The avarage should be around 80 - 110 (FOR THE FIRST ATTEMPT). It's obvious that higher scores are going to be based on further attempts at the questions. Sorry but I'm not convinced

Its in Oakland... the name of the suberb starts with an M... o_O I was in that room for 4 hours then I got to eat at a very good local Italian resturaunt... Yummy! Then I continued... the last test was telling what the pictures were... o_O I called a duck a pig... and a chair a sofa... ^_^ but they understood... =P now for the ranges...
70 and below on US is usually mentally retarded...
70-100 is average
100-142 is above average
142 and on is genious... o_O I have the highest IQ out of anyone I know... but then again I don't know many people... I bet the test I took was flawed... the lady was pretty... she could have just had the hots for me like all the other women in the world (with the exception of any that might read this.... o_O)...

If you're referring to Puff's or my scores, that's because they are on a different grading scale. And the US tests being simple compared to UK tests is complete BS if you're actually taking a valid test. ETS does the questions for both 'valid' tests. They are written up before the nation is decided upon. That is, ETS writes two separate tests, then one is randomly selected to go to the US and one to the UK as to eraticate bias. And moreover, if you think these tests are hard, try taking an AP test. All these tests determine is your ability to work with haste and accuracy under minute pressure.

the British and American tests are done by different agencies (that don't believe in each others methods - i've taken both and they're SERIOUSLY different), so i'd love to hear the explaination on how they could possibly be written by the same people and randomly assigned.

quite frankly but this is a thread about the IQ test that was posted on the link, if you didn't take that test then don't post your scores - because it has no relivence to what is being done here, especially as they are different scoring systems and quite frankly i don't give a damn if you got 6,000 on a US IQ test we're trying to grade people HERE on the exact same test... and if you were so damn'd intelligent you'd know that - but that said you posted scores from the UK one and claimed you got higher than the highest score possible which means you're just Bullsh*tting us.
you either join in and tell the truth about what you get or you f*ck off and claim to be some hyper intelligent person somewhere else.

if you ever need proof that these tests are just a waste of tome Large Nostril is probably your best example (provided he isn't bulling about his US test score)

Apex, I hope your not disputing my score (125) - I really don't think you know me well enough to guage my IQ. I did the test once, on interactive, so there was no way to redo it, I haven't done it online because the test would'nt be accurate. The last UK test I did worked on the same scale, and I got 125 - so I trust that. I have done far far better on US tests like IQTEST.COM. Bearing in mind that 100 is the average, I think it's fair to say that computer programmers might have a higher than average IQ, in fact most PC users in general tend to do better in these tests, as do people who read a lot.

I agree that as a first attempt, you should'nt pay too much attention to your score, because doing more IQ tests will improve your score, you can actually practice and boost your 'paper' IQ, so everyone do the test next year too, and compare your scores. It can be Puffs job to dig this topic up in 12 months time . I have a lot of friends who got really embarasing scores, but I don't think any of them did the test correctly, too many destractions, not reading questions properly, not understanding questions - people who've done tests before are prepared, and always do better.

Van-B to me, sounds like a very smart person And yes I agree, I think most computer users (yet alone programmers) have generally a higher IQ then the general public.

Ill have to take that IQTEST.COM quiz

Van B, I wasn't disputing your score because I actually considered you, based on the content of your previous postings that yes, you appear to be an intelligent and mature minded individual. The same goes for Raven. Like the old saying goes, never judge a book by it's cover.

My point was that some of the postings earlier were just not feasible, if people are going to post their results, they need to also explain what test they got the results on. Whether it'd be the UK or US tests. Gives us a bit of clarification as to whether they are bullshitting.

Anywayz, I hope that I didn't offend you

Yeah, IQtest.com was where I got 150! Most of the answers are true and you only get 2 choices for all of them, so it isn't exactely fair (50/50 chance of the right answer, I'm not that bad at maths).

well i just think that because this thread was about the UK IQ Test on the BBC site, no-one should've posted what their results were from other tests.

i mean not to be funny i'm not bothered about people doing better than me, but to be shown up by almost 3x what i got!? especially when it just isn't possible.
how stupid do you think we are??
think my point should remain, you either take the same test as the rest of us or DON'T BLOODY POST! ... still don't understand how those of you who are suppose to be much more intelligent believe that you can test you IQ against someone else's to prove your more intelligent by showing results from other tests - how exactly is that a fair test?

i know this shouldn't bother me, but it winds me up when people decide thier gonna cheat to show off - this is just a bit of fun so what the hell was the point in them doing that???

The thing is Raven, it's not really clear when you take a test what the limits are - I mean it's like I said before, go by your performance percentage if the test tells you. Like some tests will say "You scored in the top 90% of people taking this test", that's a relational score that is a much better guage than IQ. It's just the way of the internet, a lot of popular IQ tests have money making schemes tied in with them - like send us $10 and we'll send you your intelligence profile, stuff like that - so they tend to make the tests easier, to encourage people to buy the extras. I'm sure you could imagine people noticing the posted scores were a lot less than their 'IQ' and wanting to post their scores.

Why not take a look at the IQTEST.COM test, I'll bet you get at least 30 more IQ points than a UK test, but at least at the end it tells you your percentage, apparantly I'm smarter than over 99% of Americans

lol... well normally i score 12x on the american tests, but thats not really the point is it.
point is the post is for the UK test that the link was provided for, i suggested that others post the scores they got on it ...
just to have one or two people post score that were not possible.
So how could've they been either a)telling the truth or b)taking the same test.

if they didn't take the same test why did they post thier scores?
kinda getting sick and tired of people joining in who just don't seems to understand what is going on, its just a bit of fun not about being the best.

You can't compare any two IQ scores together =P... What if they don't test well and get nervious?... My sister took the same test as me a week before and only got a 109 and shes now taking Quantum Physics at Sanoma State... ^_^ Just based on her IQ I didn't assume she was stupid... People make the same mistake in school concerning there GPA (Timur just said this last weak) "If people are so smart then why do they got 2.0's"... O_O Some of the brightest people I know have gotten F's in school... One of them was extremely smart... I even asked him why he got such bad grades ... heres his response "My grandaddy was a truck driver... my daddy was a truck driver... and I'm going to be a truck driver too..." o_O He liked what he did... but according to Timur because hes not makeing at least 80k a year hes stupid... =P Oh yes!... I posted that score because I was going to take your UK test and the first question was about British currency... = So I gave up and joined in with the only score I've actually gotten (with an actual test... O_O)...

same as what the poop is 23c
both countries use Decimal Money demonination - infact the ONLY thing the americans don't use Metric which the Brits do is for thier gas/petrol.

everything else is essentially the same... that always bugs the hell outta me really - you have americans who come over and say
"i don't understand your money "

but i'm not sure what is so hard about it, 100p = £1 the same as 100c = $1

infact if anything our money is simpler to figure out and use...
1p/2p/5p/10p/20p/50p/£1/£2 ... those are the coins
£5/£10/£20/£50 those are the notes, the more a coin is worth the larger it gets and the dearer the metal is it made out of is (or rather the colour)

1p/2p are copper
5p/10p/20p/50p are silver (they're not anymore but they suppose to look it)
£1 is suppose to be gold
£2 is gold with a silver outside

you then have the notes, which not only get larger the more money they are ... but they're also different colours (which i wish to god american money was)

i'm not sure what is so confusing, i mean we don't call out 5p's nickles or some crap like that - we call them what they're worth.
we don't call £1 a single, only notes we have nick names for are Fivers and Tenners (which i think it pretty obvious what they're worth)

honestly i prefer british money, its the most colourful around - however south african money is pretty cool, very colourful notes

Until we're forced to switch to Euros...

BACK OFF BRUSSELS!!!!

I like British money, I always know how many sweets I can get for a nugget (£1), WTF is 1 euro anyway, let me guess - about the same as $1.

...and if you American people haven't heard enough about the wonders
of English money from Raven, here is a picture of the coins, photographed with my own two hands (my wallet doesn't streach as far
as having one of each of the notes )...

1p 2p 5p 10p
20p 50p £1 £2 (two pound coins only came reletively recently)

(also they don't come in size-value order as Raven said, which is a
bit stupid, AND Raven!... the £2 coin has a silver inside with a gold
outside, not the other way round, get it right! (only joking))

Why the hell'd you ask me for crying out loud!?!

... i've not been in the UK much since they've been around - i've only actually seen 3 ever lol
and yeah the Euro's are the same as $'s but only in exhange and denomination.

They also have a quite colourful coinage and note system
(still not as pretty as Brit cash )

I scored 151 once.
and 136
and 128
not to mention 119

my g/f has scored between 95 and 127

intelligence seems to depend on the time, how much caffine is in your system and the number of minutes passed since you last got laid.

Btw I only have one GCSE, so I wouldn't take IQ tests, or even GCSE performance, too seriously. Chances are if you find something you like, you will be good at it.

I got 128. No offense, but I'm amazed anyone who can program a game could ever score below a hundred in that test.

I don't mean to get into a flamewar here but what the hell are you talking about?
I am 16, so to get a score of 128 I got 60 out of 70. That is 86%. There are plenty of people (especially, you would think, programmers) who should be capable of doing tests and getting an average of at least 80% without cheating or studying.
