Help me... eh... 'advertise' Signature code snippet:

So here I am... yet another model pack, but this is the first I'm showing off before I'm actually finished with it. This will probably be my biggest pack yet. I know, I know. The community released a massive scifi pack, I know. This isn't copying that or inspired by that, just felt like doing scifi This could get as big as that pack though considering what I already have finished...

So far I have a LOT entities finished and 2 segments made so I can display the entities in. What's surprising about those entities though, is that they all use only 7 textures. That's right, there's only 7 entity textures in the pack. But all of the entities use those textures in unique ways...

I have a few screenshots that only show about a fourth of what's in the pack. It would take way too long to fit everything in, so I threw together some stuff with only 13 different entities. The pack is designed so that you can construct scifi levels using a little imagination. I.E. rotating entities that are usually used for certain things to make them look like something else (you can make a roof support look like a ventilation duct if you position it right).

I need ideas from YOU to keep this going. I ran out of them myself, so it'd be interesting to see what the community comes up with. No, this isn't a request thread... it's... an 'idea' thread I will continue work once I get ideas from you guys out there I'll also try to make some stuff even if no ideas are flowing in.

Entities Finished: Over 170 (last time I felt like checking)

Segments Finished: 2

Media finished:
-56 Wall Trims
-14 Roof Trims
-11 Roof Supports
-49 Pipes (what a pain)
-7 Pillars
-7 Light fixtures with working illumination maps
-1 Console
-21 Arches/Archways

So I'm out for now, leave a comment

P.S. ... inspired a little bit by Beyond Life ...

-PwP-

ok.. here we go.

It would be nice to things related to Dead space.

*New doors
*New segments
*New ventilation shafts
*Some sci-fi tables.
*Sci-fi chairs
*Various sci-fi items such as: keys, key cards, little data pad thingies or things you would find laying around, folders large data base systems.
*Pipes (Lots of em)
*For gods sake something newer than the stock Sci-fi glass...
*Better sci-fi gantries
*Sci-fi animated signs
*Sci-fi rails

Basically take a look at some dead space game play, THAT kind of geometry. Screen look amazing PW, keep it up!

It sucks doesn't it?

Anyways. I've created quite a few new light fixtures before I move on to the ideas posted above. All 7 use one new texture. The texture (original size is 1024x1012, scaled down):

The texture has an _I map as well which is utilised very well by the illuminationmap.fx shader.

And all the lights in-game:

I love illuminationmaps I think I'll find some clever way to use it for other models as well.

I'll start working on your guys' requests soon

C&C welcome...

Yup. Can't sell it because it uses base textures from CG Textures anyways

Dead Space is a little grungier, but I can see how the ribbed type of architecture could be related Thank you, it's an honor to be compared to that.

Why not?

Quote: "I have used the textures on a 3D model/scene. Am I allowed to sell the model/scene and textures as a bundle?
Yes, under the following condition: You have customized the textures for the 3D-model or scene, and you are selling the model and texture in one package. Please add the following text in the documentation accompanying the model:"

*edit* I guess it forms part of redistribution...

You can sell CG Textures stuff with models if it's been modified enough for a uv-map or whatever.

I'd love to see things from your point of view but I can't get my head that far up my bum.

@Aaagreen
Yeah I emailed the owner today to double check pointing him to model packs from TGC and the TGC EULA and he was quite happy.Need to include the line he requested.

Also cleared it with Lee and he was quite happy that I requested written proof for future reference should there be any disputes as I too have used CG textures...and wanted to make absolutely sure.

I do think they have to be uvmap bound, I did mention this to the owner.

Sorry for the thread derail, just wanted to make triple sure.

No no, no problem - thanks for clearing that up

I decided not to sell it.... I'm not the kinda guy who charges for low quality things like this anyways

Plus:

There's a problem But that's alright, I won't sell it, like I said above.

Thanks for the help guys

@vortech, yep

New update for you guys (finally! Whew. Sorry):

I love how nifty this pack is turning out. If you flip the big striped roof support in the above screens upside down... it looks like a scifi dumpster I'm not kidding - it surprised me with how creative you can be.

The new total entity count is 157 entities. I'm going to update the first post soon with the new content and counters

C&C welcome,

Seeing this makes me feel I'm slacking big time...I should stop bs-in with that gun I'm making...

This is turning out great though, very grungy sci-fiish feel! The blue lights give it a nice touch, just enough not to get bored when roaming around the environment.

Combining this with some interaction from the player with the environment will make a game enjoyable, thats for sure.
