Looks very nice. Some good progress since the last beta (4) I saw in your last thread. Collision still needs a bit of work, especially with the jumping (I'm pretty sure you already know that). I am mainly curious to see how the scripting language develops. Good luck, I will be keeping tabs on this.

Thank you design runner, as you said the collision does need work. I am currenty using dbp standard commands for it, I plan to integrate sparky's dll soon, right after muzzleflash is added witch happens to be on my agenda for this week.

Anyways thanks for the support, its these kind comments that keep me going

Ow, well... I would work on the gravity & jumping . Also, add raycasts from the bullets when they hit something . It's good overall.

Old collision code now removed without any impact other than
a raise in frame rate . Now integrating sparky's col .dll

@Agent Dink
Why is the unreal engine called unreal? (rhetorical)

I chose that name for two reasons:

1. Sounds cool (to me at least)
2. Not used by anyone else (thanks Google)

Pretty much a random choice though. Why do you ask?

Well, thats the name of their game series too. Just was curious. Thought it might have to do with a game you had planned or some cool new feature. It is a cool name Good luck!

@Red eye
Thank you, I'm glad that people support this engine as much as they do

@Agent dink

Quote: "Thought it might have to do with a game you had planned"

I am thinking about making a game with this engine at a later time. Who knows i might call it "Paradox".

Quote: "some cool new feature."

I would like to say that the reason it's called "paradox engine" it that its a paradox how fast it is in relation to all its features, but that would be lying, I think my engine's speed is pretty good for what it offers though.

-ENGINE FEATURE POLL-

Hey guys, i'm adding some console commands to my engine one of
them is called "STAT", it will be available for your testing
pleasure in the next beta. But currently it doesn't do much,
heres its current output:

polys rendering: 0
resolution: 0 x 0
depth: 0
loop cycle time (ms): 0
screen fps: 0
objects loaded: 0

what else should I add? or rather what do you want me to add?

(sorry for double post)

First, get jumping working. But after that: mouseover menu.

I believe you misunderstood my question, everything you mentioned is all being worked on and will be completed very soon. What I am asking for in the post above is what in-game console features you guys want.

the engine is being rewritten with a faster set of librarys. Also it will be much more organized (the old version is quite sloppy)

the new beta (2.1.2) will be available within a week or two.

Features list for 2.1.2 beta

-in-game debug console
-sparky's collision .dll integration
-muzzle flash

Good start! My only real question is, what will set this apart from FPSC? Why would I use your engine over FPSC which has been in development for years and is proven to work? Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's an honest question. Also, following your blog

@Red Eye - Following your blog too. It's nice to know what competition I got in the engine department

@heyufool1 well a few reasons

1. Its free
2. It will be more flexible
3. About 4 second load times
5. It will have cars (later versions)
6. It will have airplanes (later versions)
7. Dark ai (i know fpsc all ready has it but still)
8. Physics (dark phy or newton)
9. ITS FREE!

no but seriously use whatever you want to use, this engine is for me mostly, but id like the TGC community to get something out of it aswell .

@Redeye I now have MSN I added you.

free as in no money, credit as in something like "powered by paradox engine" at your game start.

to make it clear:

Paradox costs no money at all.

Oh, this is what you meant . If it is good, i would use it for my nearest game else way, expect competition .
But there is one problem, you didn't release the engine yet.

It pains me to tell you but it is still far from done, however if you want I could get it to a use able form you can start on your game with that and then migrate over to the full release.

This is still very much a WIP. I am very glad you even considered using my engine
