Ya, I know, I hate the little interface right now too. If I would just get around to buying BLUE, I could do it much better. The problem is, I also want to buy everything that comes out for FPSC, Milkshape, and other things. I think I should revise the expected updates. I am going to just skip 1.5 and go right to the nice GUI. Don't expect to much though.

Well, I'm almost happy that you figured out how to use the "Edit" button, even though you keep trying to bump your program to the top of the forum.

One thing you might think about trying to make easier is cinfiguring the texture itself. For example, say I want to make the picture below an overlay, but as you can see, theres a black background, and it wouldn't look to nice if I used the image for an overlay, then used the overlay on a white wall. Instead, if you could find a way to easily edit these textures, so all you get it the light switch, then you would have a good worth selling for a small fee!

Technacly, it already makes the black dissapear. It is automatic in FPSC, but it doesn't show up in my decal maker. Something to add to 2.5.

New Screenshot!

New Features:
*Moused Based Preview Rotation - Click and Hold Right mouse button to rotate.
*Mouse Based Scaling - Hold Sift Key and move mouse to scale
*No Longer Full Screen - Window Based

I'm going to add more before releasing this version though. A seperate programe, DEP (Decal Editor Program) will hopefully be seen in the next release. Not much of any work has been done on it, but it hopefully will allow you to edit your textures with cool effects. Keep in mind I am limited to what DBPro can do, but I'll try my best.

Can't you upload this somewhere else, or to the forum.

Filefront just sucks, having to wait up to an hour or more just to download a file.

I can't stand Filefront either. Quite a few people here use it though I see. I agree on not waiting for an hour or so for a file download. There are probably other places to put these things, I'm just not sure where.

Thanks for creating a free resource though, Conner.

Conner do you mind if I host this?
It is a nice program, and ... noooo... a GUI (I hate making GUI's, I never understand how people manage it)

@Merranvo - Sure, please host it! File front is only realy good for big games you can't find space. Oh, and for the GUI, its really a pain in the neck. Basicly it draws all the stuff, centers text, then checks the position of the mouse and all this junk. I actually have an entire "base" GUI file with several GUI functions. It's not great and needs alot of customizing for use, but if you want it I'll give it to you.

@ChrisB - Go ahead!

@Bosco - Which "thing"? The box with the buttons? Or the flat thing? The flat thing is a decal with a stupid bird texture I made

The new version should be ready soon - I hope.

EDIT: New version is looking good. New texture loading system - it browses the files in the directory! I haven't tried yet but I want to make it make a thumbnail and FPE for use in FPSC. I'll work on that after school.

Screenshot of the new Texture loading system. Black areas, like in FPSC, are now transparent! Ya!

P.S. Just to note, as you select a texture it does NOT preview. Though that is something to think about.

EDIT: Textures are placed in a special texture directory, so you won't acidently select something that isn't an image

Not sure...every little tweak brings it closer to prefection

It mainly depends on what features people want - the more, the longer the wait. However I fully beleive in releasing version by version so it isn't forgoten. Here is a screenshot of the slime decal in game!

Edit:Ugh - just noticed a new button. Try not to click that when pressing view

Version 2.3 is released !

Notice it aint filefront Also, 2.5 will hopefully have a better saving system. Since it isn't much more than just typing it, input seemed like the choice - exept it doesn't draw my boxes when I run the command

Locks up? You are using the arrow keys to select it, right? I hate bugs

EDIT: I just tried it and it doesn't freeze on me. Again, it doesn't use the mouse when selecting the texture. However I might look into such a feature.

it gets annoying to have to fill everything you want to be transparent with black. Especially when black is a major part of a picture. What if you let the user choose what color to be transperent?

Also, what if I wanted to save the overlay as a picture file? All Decal Maker currently supports is .X. What if Decal Maker supported .BMP, . JPG, .TGA, and .DDS?
Thanks for all the hard work, this is really a very handy program!
-Sunflash

P.S. Hey, this is also really nice for making splash screens for the start of programs, all it needs is the ability to save as an image file, and a shading effect option that makes the image look 3D.

Black is the default transparency color of FPSC. If I let the user chose, it would no longer be transparent in FPSC.

As for saving it as an image - FPSC doesn't exaclty let overlays be images. However, I can make it export the users texture to another format. The save system right now is terrible, I'll work on it later.

Text file - can't you just tell DBPro to make a new file with a .txt extension? Or is it more compilcated

I've only been in DB for - 2/3 years. I think. I have just recently gotten into fancy files and making a utilety period is something I haven't done before.

Unfortunatly, the code right now is a bit messy, and might not go with that Rainbow editor for BlueGUI too well. I'll figure something out.

.x is a model format, not a texture format. Your textures can actually be used in FPSC as any format DBPro supports (I beleive).

Here is a screenshot of V3!

BlueGUI provides a WAY better interface. Also alot of fixes, and the saving is obviously going to be better (again thanks to Blue). I'm going to work on FPE generator now. See ya later!

P.S. I'll upload this soon, hopefully. However I might want to re add the feature allowing you to rotate your decal.

Ok, I'll see that in a sec...

Also:
New FPE Screen! Does a bit more now, too. It can't really make it yet, but you can set up everything. I do have a problem with editing FPE files though - I still need to figure that out

EDIT: Ok, you can download Decal Maker under Decal Maker at:

And I like the index thing - I'll use this as a 'download' site. What is my limit?
